Streaming Options

The new 'we're not kidding you can really access this' stream has been up for quite a while and according to 99% of you, it's working.

Good news, you can use it on virtually any .mp3 player. (I say 'virtually' because computers are quirky and have their share of issues, to put it non-technically. So if one player you're trying to use won't pick up the stream for some reason, forget about it and use another one!)

Most people will be listening in moments with no problems by clicking on this link:

Caveats on listening online:

To hear the show live, we have to be broadcasting live. That takes place weeknights 10P-1A (ET)/ 7-10P (PT).

The remainder of the day you'll hear a streaming replay of the previous show. It generally takes an hour to edit and upload a show. You'll hear something during that time, but the replay will generally start at 1:30 A (ET) / 10:30 P (PT) and will replay continuously until the next live show.

If you can open a webpage, you can probably open this stream. There are no firewall issues. It's http. Port 80. You don't need to know what that means.

If for some reason the link above doesn't open a player and and/or stream doesn't start, then you'll have to do it yourself. Here's how:

1. Open your favorite player. In the unlikely event it doesn't work, open another one. NOTE: QuickTime users skip to point 4 now.

2. Find the menu where you are able to enter a URL (hint-- on Real Player choose "File" and "Open Location" and then you'll enter the URL I'm about to give you. Using iTunes? Choose "Advanced" and "Open Stream". (It's Control L on Winamp, but since I don't use Windows, you're on your own to resolve it if you have a problem.)

3. once you have the URL pane open, copy and paste this:

http://mac.mystreamingserver.com/Rollyestream.m3u

4. Using Quicktime? Choose "File" and "open URL" . Once it's open, enter this:

icy://mac.mystreamingserver.com/Rollyestream

(If you don't have QuickTime Pro, you'll have to enter it by hand. If you do, you can copy and paste. It will allow you to hear both the live show and the replays. It will also work for iTunes.)

5. Once you access the stream, save it to your favorites. If you're a Mac user, iTunes is probably your best bet. But all players should have a way to save the URL so you won't have to enter it again.)

6. When we're not on live, both links will continue to work. You'll hear a replay of the last show. As it's a stream, you'll pick it up in progress and can listen until you're bored.

7. We are also doing premades (.mp3 progressive downloads). We'll put up selected interviews and leave them up for a while so you can hear what you missed. Click here to access what's currently available.

8. If you're a very experienced user, and you're using a Windows based machine and you want to know how you can capture the show for playback later, listener Dennis has just the thing. Email me and I'll send your address on to Dennis who will get back to you with instructions.
