DECEMBER 2008
NEW YEAR'S EVE WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 31, 2008 Hard to believe this is the last night of the year but here we are. Several things to talk about-- but first your requests.
Steve in Connecticut wanted to know the 'rules' for labeling something non-GMO. Well Steve, I found a really good newsletter that features just that. Click here for a free copy. Read page 4.
Monday night we reviewed Tom Daschle's plan for Health Care. Be afraid, very afraid. The incoming secretary of Health & Human Services is enamored with Britain's National Institute for Health. A day doesn't go by when I see the horrific results of that scheme. From the denial of medicine which really could change the quality of life to the inadvertent deaths of patients from the lack of money, compassion or god knows what, relying on Britain's socialized medicine is downright injurious to your well being.
Read the latest horror here and realize that it's symptomatic of the whole system that Daschle would have no trouble approving. Think it's isolated? Here's more from the same hospital-- and it's no worse than others in Great Britain. Lots more, but we'll leave that for tonight.
I promise we will get more in depth over the new moon of December 27th. Not suggesting you put much credence in such things, but as far as new moons go, this one's pretty notable. Talk to you at 9 (CT).
SATURDAY DECEMBER 27, 2008 1:30 AM (CT) New moon this morning and a very interesting one at that. We talked a little about it last night and we’ll get more into it Monday. But you’re probably here to find out about trivia. The Bumper Stumpers are up under “Who Did That Record” to your left.
As for the Questions Of The Hour: In 1996 this company announced it was laying off 40,000 workers making it the largest single cut ever to that point in their industry. Criticism was so widespread that they wound up laying off only 18,000. What company? AT&T.
In 1996, the USDA proposed allowing this as an alternative to meat in school lunch programs. What? Yogurt. (The Meat Institute had a fit, and much like similar proposals in 1981, 1985 and 1989, it was withdrawn.)
From the mid ‘80s to the mid ‘90s, more and more companies adopted Casual Fridays as the dress norm at work. This varied industry by industry, but the trend in the advertising industry surprised many. What were they doing? Instituting dress up Fridays. (The ad industry—along with the computer industry—was primarily casual all the time, so the dressing up was welcomed by many.)
RadioLogoland.com question: KHJ in Los Angeles popularized The Big Kahuna character—but according to Bill Drake, the name actually came from a disc jockey he never hired. Who was it? Roby Yonge, WQAM Miami. Back atcha before Monday’s show!
FRIDAY DECEMBER 26, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) Trivia tonight.. may be easier to get in as the day after Christmas is generally quiet, so if you always get busy signals, tonight will be your night-- three hours starting at 9 CT. Talk to you then.
CHRISTMAS THURSDAY DECEMBER 25, 2008 1:45 AM (CT) Thought it might be appropriate to talk about awful Christmas music. I know that sounds redundant, but some standouts are just worse than all the others. And who better to join me than Steve Bryant! A lot of you have asked for copies of his "I Still Say Merry Christmas" and you can get free downloads at stevebryant.tv. We'll have a good time, and hopefully you'll join us. Talk to you live tonight!
CHRISTMAS EVE - WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 24, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Thanks to Mike at PaRightToBearArms.com for providing GOA memberships to give away. The phone lines were swamped--- proving my point. For every news story you hear about an armed citizen creating havoc with his or her weapon, there are thousands of stories you'll never here about how being armed saved you or someone in the vicinity from violence-- almost always without violence-- without you ever having to discharge that weapon.
Just having a gun did the trick. When the perp knew he was facing an armed opponent, that was the end of the attack. In some cases your actions resulted in apprehending career criminals. In many they saved innocent lives in addition to your own.
Those are stories you won't hear on the news-- and you should. What you will hear furthers the gun control lobby and statistically you've got to hunt to find them. On the other hand, we've had so many positive stories involving being armed that we've held over the contest through tonight's show. So if you didn't get in and you have a personal story how being armed saved the day for you or someone nearby, by all means call.
We'll have five total winners thanks to Mike. And if you don't call, there's still a great opportunity to join GOA (Gun Owners Of America-- the real deal when it comes to protecting your second amendment rights-- no capitulating by them, unlike the better known group that will bargain away all sorts of critical gun rights). Go to PaRightToBearArms.com and check out the buy two get one free deal. Or go directly to GOA at gunowners.org and sign yourself up. This will be even more critical with the incoming administration. Needless to say, we'll be live tonight, tomorrow and Friday, hope you can join us.
TUESDAY DECEMBER 23, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) Well this is it, other than local last minute stuff, this is the deadline for serious Christmas shopping. I've got something I'd like you to get. That is if you can do it. You've got to have a small budget and big heart. Please adopt a big black dog. Preferably over 100 pounds.
Why? The economy has people turning over their pets to pounds in unprecedented numbers. Some are abandoned, but many are brought with tears in their owners' eyes who just can't afford to keep them. As you probably know, more pets are euthanized than adopted at most shelters (and the no kill variety are almost all universally full right now). When it comes to euthanizing, the less adoptable animals go first. The old and sick of course. But you may not know that the hardest dog to adopt is the big black dog. Most are loving wonderful companions.
Big dogs in general are harder to place than smaller ones (which I'll never emotionally understand) but big black dogs are almost always gonners. We have 3 Bernese Mountain Dogs. If we had room for a 4th dog here, I'd go find something Newfoundland-ish and cherish it. If you can, please do. It will return your kindness with unconditional love every day. (One caveat-- while most dogs will do that, some are behavior problems due to their previous treatment and you don't want to introduce a problem into your home if you have young children or other pets, especially-- so make sure the dog you pick has the disposition you need. Then go do it. Please.)
Last minute gifts for other folks? You probably don't want to get them a big black dog (unless you know they really want one), but it's not too late to do a PajamaGram or Vermont Teddy Bear. They'll do overnight shipping and make it look like you spent weeks planning it instead of being in a rush with no time to spend. I won't tell. Click on 'em for all the info, and remember to tell 'em Rollye sent you.
Some links you'll want: We talked about the swat like attack on an Ohio family who had the nerve to.... sell organic food. Read this. And realize that the war is on. The FDA doesn't want companies to label products as not being genetically modified-- they want everyone to eat the stuff without knowing they are. Perfectly safe they say. What's up with that? Perhaps a thinning of the herd, but definitely profit considerations. Take a look at what's happening to farmers in Iraq here. No wonder they don't want us around. You may want to create your own seed vault. Here's how. Think it's a far fetched concept? Well find out who else has the same idea in an article from a year ago here.
While Greenspan is saying our economic problems will clear up before 2009 comes to a close, Kissinger continues to push for a one world government over the meltdown. That may well come to play and if it does, you can bet it will be E-squared. Economy and Environment. The latter will bring the former to even more of a halt. Read about the international court for the environment here. Don't think we'll go along with it? Think again. Read who Obama's appointing now right here. And on that note, I'll talk to you in about 20 hours.
SATURDAY DECEMBER 20, 2008 12:15 AM (CT) Hopefully you caught Joe Byrd on XM or on the stream, but as this site is often down, if you don’t have the stream bookmarked, you may have missed it. Fear not—it will replay all weekend and if you still miss it (or don’t want to sit through the rest of the trivia program), it’s preserved as a progressive download at www.mystreamingserver.com (that site is down a lot too). So what’s with all this downtime? Beats me. I’ve got those two sites on a server I don’t own. But I’ll be moving the, hopefully by the end of the year.
Although there were no major advances in basic computer theory in 1963, computers were put to a wider variety of uses. Particularly striking and wide ranging was the use of computers in this field. What field? Medicine. (From health checks on Gordon Cooper as he orbited the earth to handling hospital records, computers were in widespread use from diagnostics to accounting.)
One of the biggest, though perhaps least understood bumperstickers of 1963 simply said AUH20—what did it mean? Goldwater. (Au in chemistry is Aurum or gold, H2O is water.)
Radio Logoland question: In 1970, the number one stations in two American markets for the first time were FM facilities. Both aired Schulke’s easy listening automated format. One was WEAT-FM in West Palm Beach. Where was the other one? Grand Rapids, MI (WOOD-FM).
Have a safe, warm weekend. And remember, if you have trouble getting through this time of year, The Rollye James I Hate The Holidays Club meets live every weeknight 9 to Midnight (CT) uninterrupted from Thanksgiving through New Year’s night, no exceptions. No “special programming” here, guaranteed.
FRIDAY DECEMBER 19, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) We'll talk to Joe Byrd tonight in the first hour. If you're unaware of his musicianship, you're in for a treat as you discover more about this highly underrated but truly wonderful performer. Check out his site here.
Then we'll play trivia in the 2nd and 3rd hours. I've already picked out the questions and bumpers. But before we get to it, at the start of the 2nd hour, we'll reveal the winners in our Vermont Teddy Bear and PajamaGram contests. It's not too late to order one for Christmas. It'll arrive on time and will really be a winner. Click on either to see what's available. Tell 'em Rollye sent you. I'll never breathe it was a last minute choice because the recipient will think you planned it all month. Easy to make it personal-- in the best way.
TUESDAY DECEMBER 16, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Ron Paul tonight at 9 CT. Really looking forward to this as he's the only politician we can trust. He has the intelligence to know his stuff and the integrity to share it. Don't miss this.
Check out Ron's House site here-- you'll see all his Texas Straight Talk columns. You might also want to see his Campaign For Liberty site here. Here's more, here too.
It's that time of year again-- your chances to win Pajama Grams and Vermont Teddy Bears. (Click on 'em for the official sites full of great gifts). For the Vermont Teddy Bears we want to know about the most useful gift you've ever received (doesn't have to be your favorite, just the one that came in the handiest-- you're competing against a trucker who got a portapotty-- so make it better than that!)
For the Pajama Grams we want your true confessions. Tell us what your old standby is-- the gift you've given to more people (past girl friends, anyone?) than anything else you've selected. Call us tonight through Thursday with your stories. Winners will be announced in the 2nd hour of Friday's show.
SATURDAY DECEMBER 13, 2008 12:50 AM (CT). We talked with Angel Rissoff in our first hour. His website is here, and you can email him here, especially if you're a fellow R&B finatic and have suggestions for his upcoming CDs. (I bet there's some obscure gem you'd love to hear him cover.)
If you're looking for the answers to our Bumper Stumpers, they're here. As for our Questions of the Hour:
One out of 3 Americans suffers from this at least once a month according to a 1994 CDC study. Those over 75 are less likely to experience it, and women experience it more than men What? A poor mental health day.
In 1994 a Roman Catholic author and theologian was honored for his defense of this. Of what? Capitalism. (He had been a liberal, became a conservative and is considered the founder of a new discipline, the Theology of Economics. He argues that free market capitalism embodies Christian principles and provides greater economic opportunities for the poor than does socialism.) Talk to you Monday at 9 CT, and I'll try to type to you here before that. Have a safe weekend.
FULL MOON FRIDAY DECEMBER 12, 2008 1:30 AM (CT) Angel Rissoff in our first hour tonight (check his site out here) and two hours of trivia following that. Talk to you at 9 (CT).
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 10, 2008 12:15 AM (CT) Nice talking with Norita Taylor from OOIDA earlier today. If you're a commercial driver and not a member, please do something about it before Friday night. And if you are a member, please renew before Friday (a year will be tacked on to your current expiration date).
You know why I ask you to be a part of the organization (because it's the only lobbying body protecting your rights as a driver and the only way to make them more effective at doing that is by increasing the membership roles. Period. Get a million members, have a seat a the table whenever trucking is discussed by the government. And as Todd Spencer says, if you don't have a seat at the table, you're on the menu.)
But as to why I'm asking now, it's because of the Truckers for Troops program. 10% of your dues, and a matching 10% from OOIDA will go to this program for anyone joining or renewing this week. It's a great program that gets care packages to troops in combat areas. Many groups send Christmas packages, but Truckers for Troops is designed to arrive in late January when most of our men and women in combat zones are forgotten by many.
It's a great idea, and it not only benefits troops in general-- but service men and women in your life. If you know of someone serving overseas in a combat area, give their name and address to OOIDA (call 800-444-5791) and they'll see that a package is sent to them too. But the more new members and renewals, the more packages that can go out. So do yourself a favor, and one for our servicemen and women at the same time. Join or renew now. Please. Put TROOPS in the promo code on the "join or renew" form at OOIDA.com Thanks!
How to end your political career with guaranteed housing benefits? Just ask Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich who will likely be housed in the Big House after this caper. You've heard about him selling the senate seat Obama is vacating. It's not that he expected some under the table deal for appointing a successor. Disgusting as that is, it's also common political reality.
But to do it as blatantly as this guy was, is so over the top to be astonishing. He didn't come by this arrogance over night. Makes you wonder how he's been operating all along. Actually you probably don't have to wonder at all. I'll assume you've read all about it and don't need a link. But just in case here are a couple: the story here. And speculation over what Obama knew here.
A story with more implications for you however, is that interest on T-Bills has reached zero. With inflation that means a negative return. Why zero? Because some entities are comfortable just not losing more money and they're looking for security. But FDIC insured banks have some interest, you note. This tells you everything you need to know about the perception of FDIC and secure in the same sentence. Read it here.
Meanwhile the WTO chief has postponed a meeting on a global trade deal. Is anyone surprised? Part of the deal was lower and no tariffs.. like anyone in this job draining time is gonna sell that to the public. They put it as a climate of uncertainty or some such nice spin. Read it here.
And if you're not sickened by the thought of our melting economy, you may be made sick by the result. Literally. As government entities attempt to spend less money on medicare and such, they're turning to EBM (Evidence Based Medicine). It makes sense of paper, but it's deadly in practice, limiting your options to what is approved for treatment that more than likely is not what you'll personally need to be well. Forget doctor-patient relationships.. doctors will be paid on how well they follow the government mandates. Think HMO, but exponentially worse. Read this report. I'll try to have something pleasant to tell you by 9 tonight (CT). May take some doing though.
TUESDAY DECEMBER 9, 2008 6:00 AM (CT) Dr. Judy Wood was fascinating. If you missed the show, it'll replay continuously on the stream until tonight's live show. If you're reading this after that time, there's a progressive download available at www.mystreamingserver.com. We'll have Dr. Judy on again soon so she can tackle your questions. I'll be back before tonight's show to tell you what else is on my mind.
SATURDAY DECEMBER 6, 2008 4:30 AM (CT) Have been having trouble getting this uploaded to the site. If you're reading these words, I'm successful. Of course if you're reading this a week after the posting date, it took a while. Hopefully that won't be the case as we've got a guest for the entire show Monday night and I wanted to be able to mention it. She's Dr. Judy Wood and what she has to say about the factors behind the events of 9-11 will blow you away. You can check out her website by going to drjudywood.com. Don't believe it? You'll want to hear it for yourself before you decide.
If you're here to find the answers to last night's trivia questions, the Bumper Stumpers are up to your left under "Who Did That Record" (click on it). As for the Questions Of The Hour:
In the first half of the 20th century, this became available with little initial success. Women didn’t like it and men thought it made them seem effeminate. Today it’s in widespread use by both sexes. What is it? Shopping Carts.
The cold war intensified in 1964 when Russia accused Great Britain of doing this to 'turn the public’s attention away from politics, from bitter reflections about desecrated ideals and shattered hopes'. Doing what? Promoting Beatle-type music (Reported in all sincerity in the Feb. ’64 edition of “Moskovsky Kosomlets”, a youth oriented Russian Magazine).
In 1964, New Zealand dropped this from appearing on their passport. What? The word “British” on the cover. “British New Zealand” became “New Zealand”.
The RadiologoLand.com Question? Bill Drake was responsible for many hit records, but not this one. However, whenever asked, he would cite it as his all time favorite. What is it? Roy Hamilton's Unchained Melody. We had a winner too. Had I asked what I had originally planned, I'd still be waiting for the first guess (but if you're a real radio freak, you'll like it: With the passing of Bill Drake, everyone’s been talking about his background—including getting his name at Bartell’s WAKE in Atlanta where Philip Taylor Yarbrough turned into Bill Drake-- to rhyme with WAKE.. Highlighting the call letters in various ways extended to sales, where WAKE was often sold together with their station in Birmingham as a play on workds when regional buys could be placed. What was the combo buy called? WYDE a WAKE. (Wide awake) --see what I mean about I'd still be waiting.) Instead I'll just wait to talk to you and Judy Monday night.
THURSDAY DECEMBER 4, 2008 3:20 AM (CT) Today would have been Jack Armstrong's 63rd birthday. Hard to believe he's been gone since last March. RIP my friend.
Another very sad passing over the weekend was that of Bill Drake, 71. I talked a lot about him on the air Monday night, dedicated all the bumpers to him and had a lot of fun recounting some of the quintessential Drake stories associated with them (stories that are hilarious to recount on the air, though they don't translate well to the printed page, so I'll skip adding to them here) but words can't convey how much bigger than life his impact was on radio. I wrote something for Don Barrett's LARadio.com which I'll reprint because it's a subscription service and you might not be able to log on:
Bill Drake was living with me in Denver in 1990 when, after the KHJ reunion, it was obvious to both of us that he needed to get back to work. Imminently. Beyond the day to day reality, lay a guy who when it came to radio still knew how to do it right, and knew it wasn't being done right. I amassed decades of research and had a first hand intimate knowledge of Los Angeles and oldies. The latter, as luck would have it, was the only music format I knew well.
It was a labor of love to prepare graphs, analysis and historical anecdotes. The resulting document was stellar, if I say so myself. It also would have gone in a stellar executive waste basket, if I didn't put Bill Drake's name on it. That was its magic. The fastest measurement of time was no longer the speed of light. It became the interval between CBS and Beasley receiving a document from Drake and both picking up the phone to call him.
The Beasley deal made more sense on a number of levels and back we came to LA. Fortunately I had time on my hands and could help him craft the sound he felt KRTH should have. I could fill a book with stories, most of them wonderfully humorous. Many people credited me with the final product. Not true. It didn't matter that I continuously gave him the ammo, it was he who knew how to shoot. And he knew it on a gut instinctual level.
No need for me to belabor all those tales-- there are many Bill Drake radio stories floating around right now. But what I'm not seeing is much about Philip Taylor Yarbrough, a stoic and proud man, who came by that pride deservedly. I don't call many people righteous, but he was an upstanding, righteous fellow. (Even when we was too drunk to stand up.)
I hadn't seen him in years but it was knowing where he was and that the door was open if I chose to walk through it that made it alright. There were many reasons not to take that step, but the comfort was in knowing I could. Anytime... which is also what made it easier to delay... indefinitely. The real loss in the finality of death is knowing the door is forever closed. But he's where he should be-- and where the radio we both loved resides.
Ironic that unlike the legions of people commenting, I was not a fan of "Boss Radio". But we shared a love for what came before it-- McLendon and Storz. They're all together now. And heaven?... well, its always sounded pretty good from the bible mentions, but wait until you hear the promos!
Some of those who knew bill questioned my use of 'righteous'.. but it fits. He had his sins to be sure, but he was righteous in his unwavering willingness to take responsibility for his own actions. I've heard through the grapevine that he would have been very surprised at the outpouring of love and respect (and the packed memorial had yesterday) as he believed that everyone had forgotten him. Had I known that, I'dve personally assured him that he wouldn't be able to live long enough to count all those who remembered-- even if he lived another few decades.
On a personal level, Drake's passing is just more confirmation that the era of radio and records that so enticed me is long past tense. The latter '50s and early '60s were a time of magic on and off the air. Enough of us remained through the '70s and even the '80s to mask the ending of those times. But now, it's a stark reality that everything over which I was once tremendously passionate is history. Young folks in radio never go through that finding a sense of direction in life phase-- radio found us, and life outside it did not exist. So realizing that our entire frame of reference for as far back as we can recall is never to be again, is an empty awakening made even harder by hearing, one by one, of the passing of all our compadres. Rest in peace, my friend Bill.
As I said, "Boss Radio" was not what ensnared me. But that said, there were personalities involved with it who were nothing short of spell binding. I've joked that Robert W. Morgan could read his grocery list over a record intro and girls would swoon, but personally, someone I knew far less well by comparison will be the one who always puts a smile on my lips: The Real Don Steele.
Don, who was a jaded, complex soul, also had a child-like innocence that was captivating. You couldn't help but love him. His enchantment with the sound of words came out on the air in magnetic ways that were unpredictable and humorous. Once when he saw a drop in his ratings, he opened the show with the perfect mimic of the older woman in a then-current commercial by saying: "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!" I was still laughing when the show was over.
You didn't want to explain anything to Don before he'd be going on the air. If he liked how it sounded, you'd hear it on the radio, as I did after giving him an indepth explanation of his current numbers. Arbitron never could have envisioned his use for "exclusive cume".
He was able to take his natural sense of wonderment, save it and convert it to a hip, frenetic show that made you afraid to turn off the radio for fear you'd miss something. (The biggest compliment I could pay to any jock.) Hard to believe he's been gone over 11 years.
I'll get off my maudlin kick here and get back to the business at hand. Like harping on this Obama 'natural born citizen' issue. I'll say it again-- it has nothing to do with Obama the individual politician and everything to do with our republic. I won't belabor why it's important to respect the constitution in a republic, but I will again say, this issue will not die quietly.
The latest wrinkle in it comes from a criminal defense attorney who brings up the very real scenario of individuals being prosecuted under laws Obama has signed. What attorney worthy of his bar admittance would allow his client to be tried without raising the issue that the law may be null if the president signing it is not qualified for office? Judges will throw it out, you say? Again and again? If so, what does that do? Read the possibilities here.
Then ask yourself, why were Obama supporters and campaign staffers investigating and denigrating the natural born requirement as far back as 2006? Read that here. And finally.. from the 'so you think the government is here to help you' file, add the EPA to the FDA, in terms of agencies approving things that are blatantly against your interest-- if you're a human being who wants to physically thrive. What is it now? Read it here-- a neurotixin will be fine for the water supply. More tonight at 9 (CT). Talk to you then!
WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 3, 2008 2:15 AM (CT) Listener Chuck who is in the military wanted to pass along some info for those of you who think uniformed troops will not be on our shores, or will not be a potential problem to your liberty. First, Garden Plot is not nonsense-- nor is it new. Read about it here. You'll see there have been standing plans for the military to "restore order" on our land in any a number of civilian circumstances since 1986.
Now jump ahead two decades-- 2006 and the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act. Check out section 1076. You'll read about it here in the 'Invisible Battle Over Posse Comitatus'. Or read the summary of the bill here if you doubt the previously linked article, or even if you don't doubt it. (Scroll down to Sec. 1076 for yourself-- and oh, yes, the president signed it all into law in 2007. There will be links to the entire bill should you really want something to do with your time)
As listener Chuck points out: the next logical question is 'What triggers implementation of these laws?' A lot less than you think. We've told you about many executive orders, but why not look a the National Incident Management System (NIMS) which allows the Secretary of Homeland Security to call on his armored friends on his own. Who is that again anyway? (Right now it's Michael Chertoff but it's about to be Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano-- enough said. In both cases.) Read that here.
Chuck and his friends in the service have been trained on how to implement these elements. And as he looks at the day to day challenges facing America and the ultimate 20,000 troops (almost 2 divisions) to be stationed on our soil, it gives him pause -- to understate it. I'll leave it to you to decide what comes next. But tell me any country where the military has functioned on its own civilian soil that fostered liberty for its citizens. I'll be waiting to hear that answer. If you've been under a rock and haven't heard about the coming 20,000 troops, that's out of the Washington Post right here.
Joining us for the first hour tonight is Todd Spencer, VP of OOIDA. We'll be going over the meeting he recently had with the incoming Obama administration. Find out what might be in store for you if you're a commercial driver. And if you are and you haven't joined yet, you're missing the single biggest, easiest and least expensive way to improve your lot in life. And if you join (or renew!) next week, 10% of your annual dues (plus a matching 10% from OOIDA) will go for Truckers For Troops. And all it will cost you is $25. Read about it here.
Hopefully you subscribe to Land Line Magazine (absolutely free to commercial drivers and included with OOIDA membership) but have you checked out their website lately? It's here. And don't forget Mark Reddig and Land Line Now, heard on XM 171. They've got a good site too. It's here.
NOVEMBER 2008
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2008 12:01 AM (CT) Bumper Stumpers are up under "Who Did That Record" to your left. So are the lists of the World's Worst Hit Records and those hits you're too embarrassed to admit you like from Thanksgiving. As for the Questions of the Hour, we featur3ed 1975:
In 1975 a group of movie stars who all played leading roles in different versions of this movie got together to celebrate the writer’s birthday. What movie? Tarzan—Edgar Rice Burroughs 100 birthday.
In 1975, two years of study led to the conclusion that this food product can NOT be judged a carcinogen. What product? Saccharin.
In 1975 it was reported that the first half of the ‘70s saw 7.5 million more BLANK in the United States. Fill in the blank. Housing units. (Residential housing at the end of 1974 at 77,602,000 units. The largest growth was large apartment buildings, with single family, duplex and quad housing falling slightly.)
As for the RadioLogoland.com question: : When KHJ debuted in May 1965, Boss Radio took Los Angeles by storm playing currents, recurrents and some oldies. What was the oldest hit in their rotation? “Gee” by The Crows, 1954.
It's official, the annual gathering of The Rollye James I Hate The Holidays Club is underway. We meet weeknights from 9 to Midnight (CT), and in spirit continuously until it's safe to come out on January 2nd. (And I mean safe-- next week we'll talk about the Black Friday deaths-- Wal-Mart has some 'splainin' to do, as do others.) But for now, rest assured if it's Ho Ho Hum (or much worse) for you, we're here to ignore the holidays (except as an excuse to play some decent R&B oldies Christmas style-- songs that should be heard, but not in July).
A lot of misunderstanding of what this grinchness is all about from those not suffering from seasonal depression. To be brief, many people have many reasons (especially those who have childhood trauma, or those with recent losses) for not being Merry right now. And the attitude that they should be happy and light just puts them over the top. I get that. Radio is very important to many listeners-- especially those looking for a safe harbor-- an escape into a familiar world that provides solace and consistency. Problem is, too many hosts don't understand their obligation to be there. From disruptions like vacation schedules of their favorite personalities, to the relentless push of retailers to be happy and spend more money than you have to get a bargain for less than you expected, the pressure is on to have a wonderful time while many of you are wallowing in pain. Enough said. If you relate, you're in. Talk to you Monday night.
BLACK FRIDAY 2008 1:45 AM (CT) If you missed the countdown of the World's Worst Hit Records and the top 10 of the hits you're too embarrased to admit you love, you can find the results by clicking on "Who Did That Record" to your left. You'll notice that four songs appear on both lists, which is the fun of it all. Speaking of fun, three big hours of trivia tonight including a radio question that may net you a teeshirt or cup from RadioLogoland.com Click on it and take a trip down memory lane to the logo of your favorite radio station. Talk to you tonight.
THANKSGIVING 2008 12:50 AM (CT) The votes are in and the tabulation is underway. You'll hear the results of The World's Worst Hit Records 2008 as voted on by you. We'll play back the top 10, but new this year is a second list.. your true confessions.. those records you absolutely love but are utterly embarrassed to admit to even liking. We'll play the top 10 of those also... you may be in for a few surprises. So far it looks like I am.
Interesting lists shaping up. For one thing, you're getting a lot younger-- which is good news to me as many of the truly terrible tunes have escaped your memory-- more likely your have escaped your entire life, having been played to death before you were born most likely. While I'm counting them down, I'll also be cooking our Thanksgiving turkey, so there may be more surprises on this show than I'm expecting. I got the recipe out of a tabloid which is probably all you need to know about this effort to realize I'm in deep trouble from the start.
Assuming survival, at the conclusion of the show, "The Rollye James I Hate The Holidays Club" will open for the season. Regular meetings will occur weeknights from 9 to Midnight CT until January 2nd, so if you're looking for kindred spirits saying Ho Ho Hum, you've found them. On the other hand if you want to spruce up your holiday surroundings, listener Sue has just the thing, the fragrance of genuine Vermont Balsam which is not just for Christmas anymore. Check her site out at www.vtbalsam.com.
Here for something to scare the hell out of you? I've got just the thing for that too. Terminator Seeds. It sounds like a horror and it is. Seems the plan is underway to stop you (and all farmers) from reusing seeds for your food supply. You'll have to buy new ones annually from the big companies who will decide what they cost and how they'll be genetically modified. No independence for you-- no way. And you think I'm making this up. Well, why not take a look at what we're doing in Iraq with Order 81. Read about it here and realize that oh yes, it will happen in America. It already is. I'll save additional links for next week when we depress the hell out of you in the holiday spirit.
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 26, 2008 12:55 AM (CT) Last day to get your votes in for the World's Worst Hit Records 2008. They have to be hits (any genre, any decade)... and because they're hits, that means someone else loved them-- so we're also asking you what hits you're embarrassed to admit you love. We'll have the top 10 of both and we'll play them back Thanksgiving night-- perfect: Turkey's on Turkey day. But you're probably here for a few links-- and I've got 'em.
I have no idea who Ron Polarik is or whether he even exists, but his (or someone's) research on the COLB (certification of live birth) allegedly provided by the Obama camp featured on various websites is mighty interesting. Read it all (and I mean ALL) right here. (Read this related article too.)
It's interesting how this issue will not die and as I've said numerous times, I don't think it should-- not because of Obama specifically but because constitutionally we have very few immutable requirements for the individual elected to be president. Having a mechanism to independently verify that a president-elect (or better yet, any major candidate) is in fact legally qualified is a must. At this point, it looks like that verification will fall to the electoral college (read about it here).
Will they actually verify it? We'll know soon. But I mention it now because sufficient people are concerned to the point that if Obama isn't properly vetted, they plan to file lawsuits every time he carries out his duties. (Read that here.) It's not as simple as barring groups like the one featured in that linked article from doing it.
With this many questions out there, it needs to be settled. We're looking at actual place of birth and subsequent foreign citizenship (and passport usage). And it's beyond me why Obama hasn't settled birthplace long ago with the issuance of his long form birth certificate-- unless there's something on it that he doesn't want us to know. The purported Indonesian passport he carried may be of greater concern, but assuming there's nothing too it, that too could be easily settled. And it should be. Considering what we're facing as a nation, this is no time to be mired in weapons of mass distraction and we will continue to be until this is proven one way or the other.
One thing is indisputable (and unrelated to the previous topic) numerous men and women have put their lives on the line for us by serving in the military. And some of them have been critically injured. Many wound up in Walter Reed where they will stay through the holidays. How about sending them a card? You've probably got an extra. Tell them you care and you thank them-- address it to:
A Recovering American Soldier
Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001
Worried about Obama's "change"?.. then I've got good news. On the other hand if you bought his rhetoric about getting out of Iraq, you'll be sorely disappointed. Read this and see nothing has changed (or will).
Finally with Thanksgiving coming up tomorrow and a hilarious photo op with Sarah Palin where she stood next to turkey beheading machines in use-- with legs kicking and wings flapping while she answered questions unfazed by it all, you might want to read about how your turkey makes it to your table. The Turkey Industrial Complex is here. Talk to you tonight!
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 22, 2008 12:01 AM (CT) Here for the trivia answers? Bumper Stumpers are up (click on “Who Did That Record” to your left). As for the QOHs:
In the latter half of the 20th century a political luminary died. The Chicago Sun Times referred to him as “The Man Who Made Decisions” as they extolled his career. Who was he? Harry S. Truman (1884-1972).
In 1972, the government used computers for this for the first time. What? Job searches for the unemployed. Computerized centers where workers could match themselves with jobs sprung up.
And our RadioLogoland.com question? Legendary Miami top 40 station WFUN debuted in 1960 after owner Robert W. Rounsaville engineered a frequency swap that created the 790 dial position. As for the WFUN calls-- where were they before they debuted in Miami? Huntsville, Alabama on 1450. No takers for that, interestingly, but you're always a winner if you go to RadioLogoland.com where you can see the sound of a generation (in the form of your favorite radio station logo) captured on a teeshirt, sweatshirt or more. They're blasts from the past that are flashback fabulous. Only danger is you'll find something you've just got to have. But you can! Have a good weekend. I’ll type to you here before I talk to you Monday night!
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 21, 2008 4:40 AM (CT) Trivia tonight, but before we play we'll talk with Jim DeYong. If you haven't seen his website, RadioLogoland.com, you're missing something great if you're any kind of a radio fan. Remember that favorite station from back in the day? Well how about a teeshirt, sweatshirt, coffee cup, or more with its original logo emblazoned upon it. Click here now and reminisce. We will-- tonight at 9 (CT).
Trivia after that and don't forget we're still voting on the World's Worst Hit Records (and conversely those hits you're embarrassed to admit you love). We'll be playing them back on Thanksgiving-- a night of turkeys, fittingly. A couple links you'll enjoy. Click here to find out how to order The Wages Of Spin, the a documentary on '50s payola told by those who were there. You'll see a lot of interesting people-- and me.
Check out Philly Cuzz' latest You Tube video here. Not only will you hear a fine doo wop tune (that we often play as a bumper) but you'll also see pictures of some great Doo Wop disc jockeys... and me. I'm honored to be among them. Finally, click here to find out how to decipher country of origin on any barcode. Talk to you tonight!
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 18, 2008 12:30AM (CT) So you want to see the question you'll have to answer to work in Obama's administration. That's here. Pay attention to #59-- Do you or any of your immediate family members own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage.
Think there's even a chance the Obama administration will have sympathy with the 2nd amendment? Take a look at the other 62 questions and ask yourself how many Obama himself, let alone countless otherwise qualified individuals, could successfully answer-- if you told the truth, that is.
Meanwhile, it's back to that pesky 'natural born citizen' question again. So Philip Berg doesn't have standing to bring for the issue? Well what if a suit was brought forth by someone who was on the ballot running against Obama. Some like Alan Keyes. That's exactly what's happened. Read about it here and realize they'll have to come up with another excuse to deny investigating it this time.
Again, it's less about Obama than our republic. That we don't have a system in place to properly investigate candidates for constitutional qualifications is astounding. Hopefully this issue will change that. Hopefully it will not derail Obama. You don't want to see what happens if it does. This should have been investigated long long ago. And with any hope, it will be in the future. Plenty of other things to discuss however, and we'll get to them tonight at 9 (CT).
MONDAY NOVEMBER 17, 2008 12:20 AM (CT) Here for trivia answers from Friday’s show? The Bumper Stumpers are to your left under “Who Did That Record”. The Question of The Hours centered around 1988:
In 1988, six major issues were mentioned as part of the Environmental Pollution problem: Greenhouse Effect, Ozone Hole, Radon Levels, Acid Rain, Asbestos & this. What? Medical Waste. (It first became a concern in 1988 when hypodermic syringes and vials of blood washed ashore on US beaches. More than 2 million tons of infectious medical waste are generated in the US each year with no federal regs governing disposal.)
In 1988, the soviet prime minister was in North America celebrating the opening of the first of this in the USSR. First what? McDonalds (20 of ‘em actually).
In 1988, the FBI in its never ending quest to catch spies, upset this group when it became known that they’d been specifically targeted for monitoring for over a decade. What group? Librarians. (The Library Awareness Program had been around for 10 years, but the library first learned of it in 1987 when FBI agents approached a Columbia University librarian and asked for her circulation records of scientific journals. She refused and all hell broke loose. In 1988 the FBI revised the program saying it would be voluntary.)
I’ll be back soon with some links for you—either before or after tonight’s show. Talk to you at 9 (CT).
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 14, 2008 4:10 AM (CT) Trivia tonight. Three hours. And remember we're still voting on the World's Worst Hit Records. All we ask is they be hits-- any genre, any decade as long as they charted nationally. And since the thing all these songs have in common is their hit status, meaning for every hit you hate, tons of people paid money to own it (assuming payola wasn't in play), we've got another list we want you to complete. Tell us what big hit you're embarrased to admit you love. We'll tabulate the list the night before Thanksgiving (vote until then, on the air and by email) and we'll play the turkeys while you're eating yours.
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) Wondering about what will happen to the economy? Forget analysts, let's look at it astrologically. Robert Gover joined me last year when I was still doing Coast to Coast. His predictions about 2008 were right on the money-- literally. So we'll talk to him tonight about what's coming up for '09 and beyond. Robert's been an astrologer since the mid '60s, but a novelist long before that. He's lived a fascinating life, and his perspective is unbeatable. Check out his website at robertgover.com and check him out tonight at 9 (CT).
Meantime if you're worried about the mundane-- like your waistline or physical fitness, and if you happen to be a commercial driver who doesn't have time to do anything about it, you need to check out truckercise.net. There's a solution that doesn't involve running around your truck. And it's cheap. Makes a good Christmas gift too.
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 13, 2008 4:20 AM (CT) Full moon today. That'll explain a lot of callers. We've been talking about several things over the last two nights and I promised links. So here you go:
Hard to believe that the chief justice in Arizona says you can't say illegal immigrant, and a whole host of other things that describe our invaders.. whoops, can't say invaders. Read it all here.
The time may come when government robots will hunt you down. This is one instance when you'll be hoping the pentagon will just waste it's budget-- rather than wasting you. Here's that story.
Don't think global government is coming? Take a look at what the British Prime Minister is saying and note he's not only talking about global money but global taxes as well. That's here. Interesting to note the original story is no longer on Bloomberg. Here's the followup. Think Britain's Gordon Brown is an isolated voice? Read this story and see the world wants global banking.
Still uneasy about the bailout bill? You should be. Standard Lie #1: We'll have transparency. You'll know what we're doing every step of the way. Forget about that. They've decided not to tell you anything. Surprised? Don't be, but read it here.
So who's excited about Obama's victory. Many folks, but among the most disturbing, the Communist Party USA is flat out elated. Read that here.
Think you have any privacy online? Think the government is going to decide exactly what healthcare you'll accept? Combine them in this story and see that Google is turning over your "Flu" related searches to the CDC.
If you caught last night's show you heard Jeff Crouere from New Orleans. Check out his website, RingsidePolitics.com Jeff is a font of sanity in an over the top community. If you think you've seen corruption, you ain't seen nothing till you've seen it New Orleans style. Remember the representative found with cold hard cash-- in his freezer? Re-elected. That says it all. But we said more.
We'll talk to Larry Pratt from GOA. Gunowners Of America is the real deal when it comes to advocating for the 2nd amendment. They're everything you wish the NRA was, but isn't. And the fight just moved up several notches with Obama's victory. There's a lot our new president won't be able to do, but don't count him out on his strong desire to limit your gun rights. Join GOA, and listen tonight. There are some battles you better be willing to fight, because the other side is growing and has a new leader. Check out Gunowners.org. Talk to you tonight!
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 8, 2008 2:00 AM (PT) A big thanks to Mike Kelly who sent us a big taste of Philadelphia in the form of a dozen cannoli. The instructions said eat immediately so I have. That explains why I will need round the clock bed rest this weekend, but it was worth it. Leaving junk food and folks like Mike was the worst thing about departing Phillly. Fortunately the food can be mail ordered, and Mike’s site, Secrets From The Next Dimension (www.sftnd.com) is online. Check it out now and often.
So you’re here for the trivia answers? The Bumper Stumpers are up. (Click on “Who Did That Record” to your left.) As for the QOHs (Question Of The Hour's): In 1968, a computer was developed that could do this. It was said to be needed in outer space. Do what? Repair itself. (Duplicate circuitry that would sense malfunctions and take over in a few thousandths of a second. The repair circuitry was to be failsafe by having three modules operating simultaneously. If one failed to agree with the other two it was switched off an automatically replaced.)
In 1968, economists were confused and concerned. The US government decided to do this. Critics said it would halt growth that had been continuing for 95 consecutive months. Proponents thought it would stop inflation. To everyone’s surprised as 1968 came to a close, it did neither. What did the government do? Put a 10 percent surcharge on individual and corporate income taxes.
In 1968, the single most discussed facet of the US constitution had nothing to do with civil rights. What was the big controversy? The electoral college being the mechanism for choosing a US president. (It was feared that George Wallace could deadlock the results and throw the election into the House of Representatives. It wasn’t that Wallace might win, but it might be the case that no candidate had the requisite 270 electors. If it went to the House, each state delegation would have one vote, with 26 necessary to declare a winner. It would dramatically increase the importance of low populous states. Since the constitution was ratified, over 500 proposals (as of 1968) were advanced to alter or abolish the Electoral College. It was thought that this election would spur such action-- it didn’t.) Talk to you Monday night.
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 7, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) Just found a link for Lindsey Williams' original Non-Energy Crisis book... not all the updated info, but free, so click here. (And read the next post for more info on him.)
We'll ignore the impending financial meltdown tonight as we engage in 3 hours of trivia. (And no, even if you win, the prize will not offset any financial issues you may be having-- you're playing mostly for fun, but that said, it's been a long while since we've mailed out prizes and I promise to do that this weekend.) Call early-- that's the easiest way to get in without constant busy signals (and if you encounter them, hit redial). And don't forget, we're voting on the 2008 annual poll of the World's Worst Hit Records. As long as they're hits, any genre, any decade counts. Remember even though you think they're the worst, they were someone else's favorite songs so.. with that in mind, I'll also ask you to confess to that one song you're embarrassed to admit you love. We'll have a non-identifying tally on those too. Talk to you tonight!
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 6, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) You may remember back on August 7th, we talked with Lindsey WIlliams. Gas at the time was over $4 a gallon at the pump. Lindsey, who used to be the chaplin for Alyeska (the people who built and maintain the pipeline in Alaska) told us that it would drop significantly in the fall (with oil eventually falling to $50 a barrel) before turning sharply higher. Now, 3 months later, we're seeing prices at the pump at under $2 a gallon, so I thought it would be a good idea to revisit Lindsey's information-- the hoepful, and not at all hopeful, parts. He joins me in minutes live.
Some of what he said is falling into place exactly as he predicted-- but one admission did not come to pass. Find out what it was, and why he was wrong, but more importantly hear once more what's in store for your energy costs. And if after hearing it, you want to hear more, call 800-321-2900 to order his DVDs, CDs & books. (Oh, you'll also recall, Lindsey was threatened within an inch of his family's iives if he revealed certain things. Needless to say he won't at least not outright, but I think we can get him to at least give us some hints.
Are you trying to lose weight? I know, a non-sequiter if there ever was one, but I've got a tip for you. This is not a sponsor- just something I stumbled on in my never ending quest to eat better (as I sit here with a headache from junk food again). My goal is to simply stop making myself sick. But for many people it's also to look better, fit into those clothes, and a whole host of reasons that lead them to fall for the biggest scams out there. We laugh on the air at some of the commercials we hear. ("When is a diet pill worth $152 a bottle?" --never, trust me.) So when I came across something really great, I wanted to share it with you. And here it is: AnneCollins.com
Anne is a nutritionist who has put together what I think is the best website out there for diet control. Not only do you get many diets from which to choose, but you also get online support that is unparalleled. From forums used by thousands of informed and empathetic members, to direct answers from Anne, this is the motivator and community for which you've been waiting-- and here's the best part. It costs $19.95 a year to join. That's right, $20 a year for a ton of support and info. I wrote to the webmaster about an issue last night, and Anne herself replied within hours. If you think you can't be where you want to be (or at least be in a much healthier and happier place), here's a way you can, virtually cost free. Check it out!
MONDAY NOVEMBER 3, 2008 10:30 PM (CT) We've been talking with Dr. Joe Buchman who is running for the US House as a Libertarian from Utah. He's taking calls with us. Check out his website at www.thedoctorwillfreeyounow.com.
Big weekend full of information that will strike fear into your heart if you're concerned about an Obama presidency. It's not so much what he believes (which is frightening too) but the blatancy with which he'll share those beliefs while his adoring throngs nod approval. Not many folks dependent on the coal industry are happy with the tape that surfaced where he says that anyone can build a coal plant but if he's in power he'll bankrupt them. (Don't believe it? Read this.) But that's not an isolated statement. One is worse than the next, and there are so many from which to choose.
But to me, as mentioned before (on the air and here), it's the pattern of secrecy and desire to silence the opposition permeating everything Obama that causes the greatest concern. The latest is the demands that the whistleblower be investigated-- the individual who leaked the info that Obama's aunt is in the country illegally and living in government housing-- rather than the guilty party. Never mind the lawbreaker, just go after the individual with the gall to share it with the rest of us. Read about that here, and fume. but I'm not done.
Peter Chowka has written a wonderful article on Obama's rise. American Thinker rejected it because it was too depressing. I should point out that Peter is a world class investigative journalist who has written extensively in a number of places including American Thinker. It probably is depressing. But it's also entirely true. Read it here.
Another thing from Peter which punctuates the blatant socialism out there now is thiss gem. Elizabeth Edwards is not fond of Obama or McCain's health care plans. Why not? Obama doesn't treat health care as a right, and McCain's plan fails in all important areas by leaving the decision-making process up to individuals. That she finds individual choice to be bad is beyond stunning, but she does. Read it here.
Finally, there are a lot of Libertarians running you may want to vote for. Dr. Joe wanted me to pass on this link.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 1, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) Here for trivia answers? You’ve come to the right place. The Bumper Stumpers are up. (Link to your left—“Who Did This Record”). The Questions Of The Hour? We focused on 1991 last night.
In 1991, America was still in a recession. What was the big government push as a solution? Banks were pressured to loosen their credit requirements to help spur the economy. (The Bush I administration said the banks were too cautious after the ‘80s S&L failure due to bad loans.)
In 1991, this entity announced its bankrupty, the first time any such entity had done so since the great depression. It was bad, but a federal judge ruled, no dice. Admitting it was undoubtedly in trouble, the judge also claimed it wasn’t insolvent. What’s the entity? The city of Bridgeport, Connecticut. (The mayor was upset with lagging tax revenues due to the recession.
In 1991, the big computer news was the development of this computer. Several companies manufactured a version of it, but one was a standout. Microsoft, meanwhile, was developing a competing product. What is it? The pentop computer (which allows users to scribble notes on the screen in situations where typing would be difficult, i.e. business meetings. Software that is touted as 98 percent accurate recognizes the writing. Momenta with its model, the size of a three ring notebook, costing $5 grand, was the winner because it was the first to offer one that could also accept data entry from a keyboard).
The voting has begun! Your choices for the World’s Worst Hit Records. Any decade, any genre—but it’s got to be a hit. We’ll take your input until the night before Thanksgiving. Then we’ll tally up the totals and play them back on Thanksgiving night, the night of turkeys. –A new twist this year though. Since all of the World’s Worst as voted on by you, were hits, that means someone had to love them enough to plunk money down to buy them. So, my little darlings… true confession time here, tell me the one hit you’re embarrassed to admit you love. You’ve got one and I want to know it. This of course is optional, even if you’re not into revealing your inner soft, sappy, sentimental or downright weird side, tell us what hits cause you to lunge for that radio dial ‘cause you can’t tune ‘em out fast enough! Back atcha Monday night at 9 (CT).
OCTOBER 2008
FRIDAY OCTOBER 31, 2008 2:30 AM (CT) HALLOWEEN and you know what that means: a night of horrors. No, wait, that's next Tuesday, election night. But we've got our own horrors amongst trivia tonight, as the annual poll of the World's Worst Hit Records opens. We'll take your votes until the night before Thanksgiving when we'll compile the list and play it back on the Thursday night of turkeys. But that's not all I'll ask you. Be prepared to answer a very embarrassing question among the usual array of trivial queries. I'll tell you more at 9 (CT).
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29, 2008 1:30 AM (CT) The Obama campaign has a definite history of trying to silence those who oppose him. That's well documented (here and in many many other places). Apparently his followers follow through on that tactic too. Remember Joe The Plumber? (And how can you forget him-- he's everywhere in this campaign.) You've heard many Obama supporters trying to personally discredit the guy (and miss the message entirely-- it wasn't Joe, it was Obama's response to his question that astoundingly highlighted his own Marxist philosophy).
You've also heard me talking about the horrors of CSE (Child Support Enforcement)-- an agency in every state that ruins lives. In the name of 'It's for the children!', CSE mercilessly goes after non-custodial parents, often in illogical unfair ways that would confound anyone possessed of basic reason. Now what do Obama followers, Joe the Plumber and CSE have in common? Helen Jones-Kelly.
She's the head of Ohio's child support agency and she's spent time recently having Ohio resident Joe the Plumber investigated. Never mind he lives with his 13 year old son (whether he has other children who might fall under CSE is unknown). Never mind that there was absolutely no reason to think he was deficient in child support for anyone. Jones-Kelly explains her decision saying she investigates anyone who makes the news. (If this were only true, Ohio non-custodial parents could rest easy-- no one would have any time to notice them.) Read about it here.
And she's not alone. A clerk with access to the criminal database in Toledo checked him out too. That's here. And DMV employees verified his driver's license records. Truly frightening, isn't it? Databases will only grow, and be further linked around the globe. And you're forced to be in them with your home address, not to mention your most private information. The implications of this transcend the election and we talk of it often. Now you see some real life examples.
Meanwhile, while Obama's trying to raise your taxes, Tom Cryer continues to do everything to make sure no one has to pay them. He joins me tonight. Check out his website, TruthAttack.org.
TUESDAY OCTOBER 28, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) One week away from elections, if there are any. Not that I'm predicting some major event, rather that you can't count on anything-- certainly not the courts. We've long known that, but when a US citizen and a voter has a lawsuit about the qualifications of a candidate dismissed on the grounds that he doesn't have standing to bring it, you've got to wonder.
That's what happened to Phil Berg's suit, and frankly I was expecting it. Read the whole decision here. Phil will appeal to the US Supreme Court, but he's also going to do what I thought he should have originally-- file it as a qui tam suit. (It's something often used by whistleblowers, who will file a third party suit against an entity [i.e. a corporation] for a violation of US law or regulation [i.e. polluting]. --In other words, they'll be the listed plaintiff, even though it's really a US law or regulation that's being violated. The justice department may decide to join in or not, but even if not the suit goes forward as if the plaintiff were the government, and should a positive verdict be rendered, the plaintiff would get 1/3rd of the proceeds.) Sound good? Well the catch is, I can't find any qui tam suits that proceeded where the defendant was also the US government.
Regardless of legal chicanery, the bottom line is Americans deserve to know that all candidates for president are properly vetted. This is much bigger than Barack Obama and if nothing else, this and similar actions (and actions to come) should serve as proof of the need for systematic investigation of every candidate. A low level security guard at the Pentagon undergoes more rigorous investigation than someone entrusted with secret service documents? We need to fix this now and for the future. (Last night's chat with Phil Berg is downloadable at www.mystreamingserver.com as is our long interview last Monday.)
Even focusing on Obama, this is about many more questions than his birth place. Interesting to note that the governor of Hawaii has sealed Obama's original birth records. That brings enough conspiracies to mind to be talking for years. Read about that here.
The overall pattern of this campaign is to attempt to avoid probing questions or any serious criticism. From the ill-advised threats to television stations who ran commercials accurately detailing his votes on gun control (much can be debatable opinion-- votes are what they are), to Joe Biden's laughable outrage at hard questions, a disturbing picture emerges.
Take a look at this, the video of the television reporter in Orlando. After that interview the Obama campaign cancelled all further interviews with anyone associated with the stataion. Fortunately (and proudly), the reporter's boss backs her 100%. And looking at the body of evidence, she's tough on everyone.
A day later, Biden appeared on KYW-TV3 in Philadelphia. He was incensed about being asked questions of substance when he thought he'd be discussing the Phillies and the general fluff stuff. You gotta watch this. You'll see the interview and hear, sadly, that CBS did not back the reporters. They pulled the interview from their website and apologized to the campaign. What?!
Suddenly it all comes together. All of you for all of these years have been arguing with me that the media is controlled. I know first hand it's not-- at least not in the way many think it is: with a stick. But I also now am equally sure it is: with a carrot. Yes, play nice and you get the plum interviews.. great for ratings (if you're a tv or radio entity), good for business if you're a wire service (who must have access). Don't play nice and we cut you off. Newspaper circulation is falling through the floor these days. It would behoove them to hire journalists who won't play nice but will play fair as they investigate the real issues that everyone else will ignore. But they won't. They'll tell you you didn't hear what you just did in the Obama "redistribution" radio interview. Don't believe it? Here's the Washington Post take. Sound reasonable to you? Then listen to how it actually sounded here. (Never mind the Wshington Post, let what Obama is saying reverberate for a while. OMG.) Think your ears are deceiving you and you'd like to read it in full context? Here's a trascript of the entire show.
But it gets worse-- I didn't see this personally, but investigative journalist Peter Chowka whom I trust completely tells me that an Obama campaign spokesperson was on Fox News between 5 and 6 PM (ET) Monday. Talking with Megyn Kelly about these issues, their comment was: The press in this country has no license to ask anything they want. What?! Even a remote concept of that comment is unbelievable.... and absolutely believable, given the source.. I'll have more surprises tonight at 9 (CT). Talk to you then!
SATURDAY OCTOBER 25, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) We'll talk to you on WGN 720 AM in a couple hours (2-5 AM central -- click here for their website and here to listen live online).
Just in time for Halloween we'll talk Ghosts with the real ghostbuster, Mary Ann Winkowski. (Click on her name to get to her official website. Get a great price on her book "When Ghosts Speak" by clicking here.) I'll hog her for an hour at 2. And she'll take your questions at 3, so if you think you're haunted, this is the woman who can tell you for sure.
At 4 we'll do some early voting on the World's Worst Hit Records-- call 312-591-7200. More on that and Mary Ann below in Friday's blurb-- keep reading.
But if you're hear to learn the answers to tonight's trivia questions, the Bumper Stumpers are up under "Who Did That Record" to your left. As for the QOHs (Question Of The Hour), we focused on 1987:
In 1987, the RNC was embarrassed into agreeing they’d seek federal court approval in advance when they wanted to do this. Do what? Conduct any ballot security programs. (Democrats alleged that such previous drives were aimed at harassing black voters. The DNC had brought a $10 million lawsuit against the RNC as a result of a GOP effort to purge voter rolls in Louisiana in 1986. A Republican memo obtained by the Democrats said the effort “could keep the black vote down considerably”. The Dems charged the Reps with violating federal civil rights laws.)
In 1987, music talk centered around this genre rising sharply in popularity to the point that it was a hot topic at the NAB radio convention that year. What music genre? New Age. (Even VH-1 added a program devoted to it, called “New Visions”).
In 1987, archeologists unearthed proof of the oldest human settlement of this type. It was in Florida. What type? Free blacks in America. (Located at Fort Mose, Florida near St. Augustine dating back to 1740, the blacks had been slaves in what is now North and South Carolina. The Spanish agreed to let them remain free if they’d help them defend themselves against British attack.)
FRIDAY OCTOBER 24, 2008 1:55 AM (CT) We're back in business, broadband wise. Whether it's a temporary fix or not, time will tell. I'm operating under the assumption all's better now. Last night's show is up and will be streaming until tonight's live show. (Click on the tower to your upper left for more info on that.) If you'd rather download it, that's available here. (You'll see a link when you get there.) And yes, now we'll start to get some of the archives you requested, up. I've got to digitize and upload them one by one so be patient.)
Trivia tonight! 3 big hours. I've already got the Bumper Stumpers picked out, and the Questions of the Hour. I'll leavae it to you to pick from tonight's categories which you'll hear at the start of the show. Talk to you then.
Halloween's just a week away so for my final over night show on 720 AM WGN, just in time for Halloween, we'll talk to Mary Ann winkowski, the real Ghostbuster from 2 to 4 AM (CT). Check out her website here. And don't miss this. She's a lot of fun, and she's likely to blow your mind.
We'll have open lines in the final hour, so if there's anything you've been itchin' to tell me, you'll have your chance. Not only that, but you'll get to vote! Never mind the president, Halloween (the night of horror) is the traditional start of my annual World's Worst Hit Records poll. We'll open it officially next Friday the 31st on my show, but for WGN 720 AM listeners, it'll be a night of early voting. (I hope you'll get in at 312-591-7200! (Click here to listen to the show online-- 2-5 AM.) We have rules, by the way-- the record had to be a HIT.. any genre, any year, but a nationally charted hit. We'll take votes until the night before Thanksgiving. And we'll play the Top 10, Thanksgiving night,(the night of turkeys). I'll tell you more tonight at 2 (CT.) Talk to you then.)
SUNDAY OCTOBER 19, 2008 6:30 PM(CT) Apologies for not getting this page up Saturday morning. We're having huge internet problems that are not easily traceable--I won't bore you with the details other than to say the bottom line is I'm rarely able to go upstream so posting and streaming will be erratic at best. (Downstream has it's issues too but they pale by comparison. This is not toatlly localized so I don't have an ETA of resolution yet. I'll update you as soon as I know more --and can physically do it-- I had to drive to a wifi hot spot to get this page up.) Talk to you on XM and hope to talk to you online soon. Thanks.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 18, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Talk to you in a couple hours (2-5 AM CT) on WGN! The blurb below will give you an idea of what's on my mind, but I couldn't resist a couple more links.. from the "Are they trying to create civil unrest' file, the Supreme Court tells Ohio-- don't bother to check those 200,000 potentially fraudulent voter registrations. That's here.
And from the 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help you' file, the BATF can add theft to its litany of abuses. You should boil over this. On the other hand, if you're here for trivia answers, the Bumper Stumpers are up under "Who Did That Record" to your left.
The Questions of the hour? In nutrition news, in 1981, it was reported that this product was naturally spiced with a small amount of Morphine. What product? Milk. (Researchers at Wellcome in Research Triangle Park, NC reported that both cows and human’s milk contain morphine from eating hay, lettuce and other plants which in addition to the poppy also contain measurable amounts of morphine.)
It was May of 1969 that the last one of these was ever produced. What? Chevy Corvairs.
In 1969 it was reported that overall manufacturing in the US was declining. However the birth of a new manufacturing sector in great demand was also noted. What's the new sector? Thin metals (spawned by the need in the electronics and aerospace industry). Also, very sad to note the passing of Levi Stubbs. A good obit (if there is such a thing) is here.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 17, 2008 6:00 AM (CT).. Trivia tonight at 9 (CT).. and I'm ready for ya. But if you'd rather talk about something that isn't trivial, you'll want to join me two hours after the show-- from 2 to 5 AM (CT) Saturday morning when I'll be on 720-AM WGN (listen live here).
Among many things we'll be looking at a case which the Supreme Court is hearing next moth which has dire implications for all of us. It's been very dire for the Vermont Woman who brought forth the suit-- she lost her right arm (and she was a successful musician-- end of that career). But it's how she lost it-- due to a nausea drug administered at a local clinic. The bottom line is the company knew this side effect was possible (gangrene when administered arterially) but the label failed to adequately explain that.
The woman won about $7 million-- the drug company appealed-- her judgement was affirmed. So off to the Supreme Court they go. Now why is it important to you? Because if it comes down as the pharmaceutical company desires, it will mean that you have no legal recourse when the FDA approves something. Given the FDA's track record, that should strike fear and terror into your heart just in time for Halloween.. but wait there's more. Actually you'll have to wait, though you can read the story and see a video report here.
We'll talk about it all tonight (or tomorrow morning, depending on your perspective). Plenty to discuss on the bailout too. What I feared has come to pass. You're not gonna like this, and it's just getting started. Whether you want to have fun with trivia or be depressed with the state of the country, there's something for everyone tonight. Talk to you then!
Before I sign off though, let me mention "Wages Of Spin". I haven't seen it yet myself, though I'm in it-- feeling lousy and looking worse-- but it's not about me, it's the first real look at the truth behind the payola hearings of 1960, and you don't want to miss it. If you're in the Philadelphia area, there's another screening soon, and even if you're miles away, a distribution deal is in the offing. Check out the details at www.characterdrivenfilms.com.
THURSDAY OCTOBER 16, 2008 3:33 AM (CT) Mercury's direct, the full moon is past, and we have no explanation for a lot of things. I'll skip the debate (for all the obvious reasons). But I will say that Obama's penchant for silencing critics cotinues to be chilling. The latest story comes out of Lufkin, Texas where a woman received a call from an Obama volunteer on her cell phone.
She told the caller that she would not vote for Obama. "No I do not support him. Your guy is a socialist who voted four times in the State senate to let little babies die in hospital closets. I think you should find something better to do with your time." She then hung up.The next day, a knock at the door. Secret Service. You can read more about it here.
But what you won't read is the woman's conclusion, that a phone polster did not have the ability to summon the secret service to intimidate her, threatening her with everything from court to interviewing her neighbors and family and demanding to know what her "thoughts" about Obama were. In order to get the Secret Service to immediately react, do a dossier on this woman and drive over 100 miles to threaten her within 24 hours, someone high up in the Obama campaign had to have been involved. That is the real concern.
Same MO as the campaign threatening TV stations with license revocation for running critical ads.. Same MO as the "truth squads" which initially in Missouri threatened criminal prosecution.. Same MO as trying to get the lawsuit over Obama's birth dismissed (on the basis that the plaintiff-- a voter-- didn't have the right to know!), rather than simply putting the matter to rest by supplying the appropriate documents. That one continues to be a mystery. If Obama is duly qualified to run for president as a natural born citizen, proving it should be easy (and mandatory for all candidates, actually). Here's the latest story on that alleging proof of his birth in Kenya. (An attempt at a second lawsuit on that filed by a different party in a different state is here.) But Obama is certainly not the only concern if you're concerned about the government at all.
Tonight we'll delve further into this week's actions by Treasury Secretary Paulson. The bailout was supposed to be that-- a bailout. Solvent private institutions who want no "help" from the government should not be involved.. right? You'll probably remember that I told you one of my biggest concerns about the bill was it unilaterally gave the Treasury secretary authority to buy anything he wanted at any price he stated, unilaterally. What a deal. Wouldn't you like to walk into Saks Fifth Avenue and say you'll be buying that leather jacket for $39.95? Hell, scratch that. Wouldn't you like to walk up to a stranger on the street wearing that leather jacket you like, informing them, you'll be buying it from them for $39.95?... that's more like what's happening. And I'm sure that's how Wells Fargo felt when they were told it didn't matter that they weren't in trouble, and it didn't matter that they didn't want to sell, nor did it matter what they thought the value of their property was.. Paulson had other plans.. read this. And worry.
While I've got you worried, I want you to hear a clip from Howard Stern's show. (I don't care if you don't like Howard-- you'll want to hear this either way.) The set up is simple. Sal from his staff went to Harlem to interview voters. You'll hear four of them. (3 Obama and a McCain.) Get ready to laugh-- and then cry. (And note, Howard's crew should assess their knowledge as well-- Sal was right about homonyms..) If you can't stand to hear the F word, I've got a cleaner version here, but it only has the 3 Obama voters. That's here. I'll try to clean up the first version and play it tonight for you, but get a jump start and hear it now.
TUESDAY OCTOBER 14, 2008 5:30 AM (CT) Full Moon in Aries today. We might talk about it tonight --not that it will explain government craziness. Speaking of which, I promised a link to the story about the housewife arrested for fraud. Seems she assured a neighbor in church one Sunday that there was nothing to worry about regarding an outstanding loan (which was incurred by her husband and fully repaid shortly thereafter.) That's what put her in jail. If you think I'm leaving something out, be equally assured I'm not. Turns out fraud in Utah is anything they say it is.
So why this woman and this nonsensical charge? Because her husband (who borrowed the money and paid it back) refused to lie for the state when they wanted him to testify against others. State enforcers decided that locking up his wife would be one way to get him to talk. (It didn't work.) You'd better read about it, and you can, here.
Meanwhile, John Fund joins me tonight. He'll further clarify some of the outrage I've been sharing about ACORN. He wrote about election fraud in 2004, but with what's been happening lately, he's updated " Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy". We'll count the ways, but you'll probably want to read them for yourself in detail. You can get a copy at a great price if you click here.
I am outraged that America is being hijacked and political correctness stops people from discussing it. Even Monday's speech by Cash and Carry.. uh, sorry, that's Neel Khashkari, who in his brief life has ascended in an odd fashion to the helm of the largest government take over of the private sector ever on record anywhere.. but back to his speech.. it was the during the part about the requirement that companies chosen to participate in the program be first carefully vetted for their ability to find and work with minority sub contractors that I completely lost it. We talked about that last night but apparently no one else is concerned... think I'm changing the subject? That brings us full circle to exactly what John Fund and I will discuss tonight. Don't miss it.
Here because you want to know the answers to Friday's trivia? Bumper Stumpers are under "Who Did That Record" to your left. The two questions of the hour came from 1981.
In 1981, it was reported that this industry was the first to be affected by the election of President Reagan. What industry? Advertising. (Reagan and other conservative candidates were thought to encourage groups like Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority" and Donald E. Wildmon's "Coalition For Better Television" to call for a cleanup of sex, violence and profanity on television by threatening boycotts of advertisers-- many of whom paid attention and changed sponsorships.)
By the end of 1981, this was found in 1/3rd of all US households. What? Cable television.
SATURDAY OCTOBER 11, 2008 1:00 AM (CT) We'll be talking to you-- and Gene Chandler-- in an hour on News Talk 720 WGN Chicago. Since there's absolutely nothing I can do about the government tonight I thought We'd enjoy some Chicago Soul stories. Yours are welcome! Keep reading for more details on that (in the 2nd half of the next post) and listen online here, or over the air in one of the many states and provinces WGN blankets at 720 AM. Here's a link to Gene's official website, and here's a link to the WGN site. Talk to you in minutes! And if you want to know what bumpers we'll be playing, click here. They're already up online.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 10, 2008 4:00 AM (CT) Trivia tonight, but before we get to it, we'll spend an hour with Dr. Jerome Corsi. As you may know, Jerry was in Kenya about to give a press conference when he was detained by the government and many hours later unceremoniously deported. What were they afraid he'd say? Find out tonight at 9 (CT).
Then Trivia for two hours 10- MIdnight (CT). Two hours after that, from 2-5 AM (CT) join me on 720 WGN (listen online by clicking here).
Last week, a listener called and suggested we talk about Chicago's music heritage, particularly the wonderful record labels from back in the day. If you're a regular listener to me, you know he didn't have to beg. It'll be my pleasure. In thinking about it, there's far too much to cover so I thought we'd focus on Chicago Soul which is highly underrated but more pervasive than you can imagine. Fan of Beach Music? There's a lot of Chicago soul there. Northern Soul? Same thing. Low Rider East LA fare? You got it, plenty from Chicago. Everyone knows about the influence of Curtis Mayfield, and while that can't be stressed enough, there's a lot more to the story.
One of the best folks to tell that story is one of my favorite artists-- Gene Chandler. I bristle every time someone refers to him as a 'One Hit Wonder' for "Duke Of Earl" (or almost as bad 'a guy who came back and had a hit a decade later with "Groovy Situation"). Gene Chandler is much more than that. He's responsible for a lot of terrific music. From his years on Nat, VJ, Constellation, Brunswick, Mercury and others-- to his own label, Bamboo, where he brought us Mel & Tim, to his touring to this day, Gene is one of, if not the, best people on the planet to talk about what made Chicago Soul magical. And for fans of the music, it truly was. Hopefully we'll bring back some of that magic tonight.
The hardest part of planning for this show was picking out the bumpers. Tune in to hear them. I'll hog Gene for myself in the first hour and I'll open it up to your calls with Gene in the second. The third hour? Anything that's on your mind. And given the events of the week, I can imagine what that is. Talk to you 2-5 AM Saturday morning.
THURSDAY OCTOBER 9, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) As promised, you're about to get a link to a real mind blowing conspiracy. Remember when congress had it's closed door session last March? We were outraged but told it was for our security, because the issues surrounded security and we couldn't afford to have them public. You'll also recall that the congressmen in attendance were forbidden from sharing with us anything discussed.
Back then a website had a story about it. Frankly I discounted it completely because the site was not always credible. Bad move on my part. Thankfully a Ron Paul blog reprinted it verbatim and it's still online.
Interesting to see that many of the people commenting on the story shared my concern for the source. If it was valid, why wasn't someone with more coverage and known credibility advised of the same thing, we all wondered. It's no longer theoretical.
Click here and you'll read that congress was told in March that the economy would collapse in September... but that's not all.. you'll also read of the collapse of government finances in Feb. 2009, the coming of the concentration camps and the Amero, and more. So what we know is that the September date came true. Will the others? Will we find a congressman present who will tell us what was really said in that meeting? Can we press them for details? No longer rhetorical questions tonight at 9 (CT).
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 8, 2008 7:30 PM (CT) There's something we haven't talked much about-- the lawsuit demanding Barack Obama prove his citizenship. It appeared to me that all the claims about it were bogus, and it was at best a distraction. But I'm starting to wonder. (Here's the story about the lawsuit. You'll see the claim is pretty much discredited.) It would seem to me that the DNC and Obama's campaign could absolutely and forever put this to rest by ponying up the documents proving what most believe-- that he's a citizen. But they're not doing it. In spectacular Obama fashion, they're trying to silence it. (That's here.) Why would they do this? Unless of course.. we were wrong and those who feel he's not a citizen are right. Is that what caused Jerry Corsi to be thrown out of Kenya? (Haven't heard that? It's here.) A lot to talk about tonight, since you won't hear about it on major media. Here's a story about that too.
MONDAY OCTOBER 6, 2008 11:00 PM (PT) Apologies for not being here before the show. I figure you'll be after a few links. Click here to see how your rep voted Friday. (Click here to see it by state.)
But before you go figuring he or she just completely ignored the will of the voters, there's a wonderful conspiratorial possibility. Rep. Brad Sherman actually mentioned it on CSPAN (click here for the video where he says some reps were threatened with Martial Law being declared if they didn't pass the bill) and Alex Jones talked with him directly. (Here's that story.)
But not even a full business day since it was signed and already we heard about the "global" proportions of the problem-- and how it will affect us. Wanna bet we'll be bailing out the world? Click here for the stock market story. And from a few weeks ago, here's the UN Chief calling for global help.
At first I thought the bill obliterated states rights-- and it does, but that hasn't stopped California. Minutes after the bill was signed, Gov. Schwarzenegger is asking for $7 billion. (That's here.) But clearly they need the money. This is a state raising money by selling you copies of the building codes, and more. Now mind you, if you don't follow these codes it's a hefty fine (or perhaps jail time) so you'd think your right to download a copy of the regs would be absolute. Nope. Be prepared to pay a lot-- either way. Here's that insanity too.
And I could go on.. but tomorrow night (Tuesday's show) we'll talk to Dr. Joe Buchman who is running for a US House seat in Utah. I hope he wins. After you hear him, you probably will too. Check out his website: www.TheDoctorWillFreeYouNow.com. He joins me Tuesday at 7 (PT). Talk to you then!
SATURDAY OCTOBER 4, 2008 5:50 AM (CT) Great talking with many of you on WGN this morning. got a few requests for the bumpers I played. They’re listed under “Who Did That Record” to your left. We’ll meet again on News Talk 720, every Saturday morning 2-5 AM (CT) this month. If you’re up late, check it out and do call!
But if you’re here because you’re wondering about trivia (from my show last night), the Bumper Stumpers are here, and should you have missed the Questions of the Hour, we focused on 1973:
In 1973 New York passed it’s toughest laws against Drugs. Mandatory prison minimums and this, unless offenders agreed to become police informers, were part of the package. What? Probation for life.
In 1973, X-ray inspections of passengers and luggage at airports around the world was causing an outrage. Passengers were so upset, a product was developed to avoid the issue. What issue? Massive doses of x-rays spoiling exposed film. (Bags lined with lead and barium were developed to protect it.)
In 1973, the NRMA (National Retail Merchants Association) convention slogan was “Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow”. Retailers were warned that the ever faster socio-economic changes would have a dramatic impact on them. It was reported that in answer to the new lifestyles that were altering what people were buying, many already responded by putting more emphasis on this. What? Casual living (from crafts and natural foods, to less formal furniture or clothes).
Talk to you Monday night at 9 (CT). Type to you here sooner. I’ll still be in a snit (over the budget bill, what else?) Try to have a good weekend.
FRIDAY OCTOBER 3, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Unless all hell breaks loose, trivia tonight at 9 (CT). Got 6 Bumper Stumpers lined up.. 3 Questions Of The Hour (all dealing with 1973).. and your choice of six categories of Useless Knowledge. Get ready to win..
BUT for those of you wanting to vent about whatever it is the House will do today (and pleeeeease, if you haven't done so already, call your Rep. immediately-- Info on that is below in yesterday's post), but tonight (or tomorrow morning depending where you are, and every Friday night/Saturday morning in October) check me out from 2 to 5 AM (CT) on News Talk 720 WGN, Chicago. (Click on the Listen Live button-- if you aren't able to see it (or anything), click here for what is probably a direct link to the stream. Once it starts, minimize if you like, but don't close, the window.)
WGN is truly the last remaining great American radio station. All the full service features, tradition and commitment are evident. Hopefully I'll hold up my part of the bargain and entertain you. Call in! The number is 312-591-7200. I'm sure there will be a lot to talk about.
THURSDAY OCTOBER 2, 2008 12:15 AM (CT) The senate has slapped the American public in the face. They have passed the bill the House rejected in its entirety-- with some significant additions. They added an increase in FDIC insurance amount ($250,000) temporarily... then they added an entire separate bill. I am not making this up. They added the energy bill they've been trying to pass giving all sorts of concessions to all sorts of nonsense. And in THAT bill, they've got the tax relief so touted by the media. They also have a provision for permanent undercover investigations on the part of the IRS. And a LOT more.
But wait, it's worse. H.R. 1424 is not actually a bill itself-- it's an addition to the ERISA act of 1974. Fittingly they stuck it under the mental health and substance abuse section. Our mental health will decline, and they must be abusing substances to think we'll allow the government to take over the private economy. And that's exactly what this bill does.
If (and a big "if") you're on the side of thinking "something" must be done or the economy as we know it will seize, then for god sakes, look at loans, guarantees, and accounting rule changes-- yes, none of that is a permanent fix. (Neither is the bill they passed.) But at least it wouldn't be a wholesale takeover. It's all a tap dance fix-- but in the case of what's been passed, it has the added bonus for control freaks of allowing the treasury secretary to take over anything financial. Don't believe it? Read the whole thing here and decide. Focus on the definition of financial institution, and troubled mortgages for openers.
So who did the damage? Here's the roll call vote (74 For, 25 Against, Kennedy not able to vote)-- and here's the Senators up for re-election next month. (Interesting that many who are, had the hubris (or insanity) to ignore the voting public. Speaking of which, the only bright side in this is that the House must approve it. That comes Friday.
Remember, every member of the House of Representatives is up for re-election in 34 days. You may wish to call your Rep and let him know if he votes for this bill, you won't be voting for him. (Again, if you think a bill is necessary, understand that this power grab is not.) Call the Capitol Hill Switchboard at 202-224-3121, give them your zip code, they'll give you your Rep. Here's a link to all of them and their websites. Sometimes it helps to call a local office. And email doesn't hurt either. If enough of us call, this will be very illustrative. We'll either get them to represent US and our wishes, or we'll see first hand that they don't care about our views just before they expect us to vote for them. More tonight!
WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 1, 2008 12:50 AM (CT) 34 days until the election and everyone running for anyone can't help but make our current financial mess a very partisan issue. Truly disgusting. The lone voice of reason, Ron Paul is not invited to the discussion on any of the talking head shows, while the biased brain dead seem to tacitly agree not to discuss the real issue of where we are and how we got here.
Call your senators. Tell them to vote NO on any bailout that has the government buying any private assets. If they feel the economy must be strengthened (for reasons we know and some we don't), tell them to make loans, not purchases and stress that they should not create additional programs to help homeowners or anyone else. The further they stay from private assets, the better. It's tempting to say, '...we'll if they're bailing out Wall Street, they should bail out me' but history proves they shouldn't be bailing out anyone. If the programs and regulations they've created in the past really will cause the economy to seize, they must act. But they can do so by changing those regulations and extending loans and even insurance. Programs and concessions is what got us here. We don't need more of them. The Capitol Hill switchboard is 202-224- 3121. Or click here to get email contact information. Thanks.
Oh, and remind them, we're less interested in increasing the FDIC insurance amount than we are in an explanation of how and when the money will be paid out in the event of massive failure. If you think you'll just get a check, you must be consulting with tinker bell, or a similar fantasy character. Federal law requires payment 'as soon as possible' --tell me that's not nebulous.
For those who listen to the live stream, we play a lot of stuff you won't hear on the air-- or sometimes anywhere else. One of the artists who has really peaked your interest is Eva Cassidy. Listener Kimberly introduced us to her through Joe Byrd's wife Elana, a lawyer who handles her music. Sad to say, Eva's no longer with us, but her legacy lives on. You can check out her website here. Clearly more proof that the good do die young. Check her out!
Email alert again. Yes, I've realized for the umpteenth time than I can not answer individual email. My inclination is to do so, but it doesn't take long before it's all I do. I'm beyond that right now, so I'm being strict with myself on this-- I'll try to read everything, but I won't reply via email. I will incorporate your questions and concerns on the air (and possibly online). That way I'll still be alive to do the show. Thanks for understanding. I'm honored that there's so much volume to have to come to this conclusion-- and comforted that we'll still have one on one contact anytime you call the show, which I hope you will do!
SEPTEMBER 2008
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 30, 2008 7:00 PM (PT) You probably know I'm no fan of globalist McCain (almost everything you need to know is in last year's McCain Kennedy Amnesty bill) and I cringed when I saw his demeanor in the first debate-- BUT.. and it's a big "but", Obama scares the living daylight's outta me. It's not that he's a socialist, it's not his friends like Alinsky or Ayers.. it's not his association with ACORN and other such organizations. All of that takes a distant back seat to the real issue.
This is a man who has no trouble wanting to shut up his enemies. You probably read about his campaign going to the justice department to see if they could forcibly stop television stations from running negative ads against him. (Read the letter for yourself. It's here. And here's the NRA's point by point response.)
You may have heard about the "Truth Squad" efforts against Hillary Clinton during the primary. But the latest is an even more disturbing "Truth Squad" of prosecutors in Missouri who are looking for "lying ads" and planning to prosecute. (Don't believe it? Here's a link. Read about the outrage here. Now after the flap, they say they don't mean it. That's here.)
But using the courts to stop opponents isn't new. When he first got into the Illinois House he had virtually no opposition because he brought court challenges against all comers (including the woman who virtually sponsored him). Here's that one. Court challenges might be debatable, but what's absolutely unquestionable is a man who will do whatever it takes to silence his enemies is a man we don't want with more power. That trumps it all.
One final thing-- not sure whether to fume or shudder. Remember the New York anti-terror group that disinvited Sarah Palin after Hillary Clinton refused to appear because Palin would be there? I was disgusted by their decision-- but it's possible they were helped into it. Read this! You'll see a lot of links within it including the Obama campaign trying to shut down Milt Rosenberg. Make sure you click on that one. Or read it directly here. Talk to you in moments.
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 29, 2008 10:30 PM (PT) First things first—here are Friday’s Questions of the Hour:
In 1988, Wisconsin came up with another way to fight drugs. What did they do? Required tax stamps on illegal drugs )not to raise revenue but for another charge they could levy against drug dealers).
In 1988, this became the world’s most prescribed arthritis drug. What? Voltaren by Ciba- Geigy of Summit New Jersey. It’s an NSAID. Authorities estimated 65 million scripts had been written world wide in ’87.
The first patent ever for this was issued in 1988. What? A Genetically engineered animal. (It was a mouse, at Harvard, designed to more easily contract cancer.) As for Bumper Stumpers, they’re under “Who Did That Record” to your left.
Promise Kept Department: Here’s a link to the text of Ron Paul’s address to the House about the bailout bill. Everything he said makes perfect sense, and everyone on Capitol Hill will completely ignore every word. Want to know how your rep voted? That’s here.
We’ve managed to avert a bad version of the bill. There really isn’t a good version, but you can bet one will be passed—hopefully better that today’s, but we won’t know until Thursday at the earliest as Congress will recess for the Jewish New Year tomorrow and Wednesday. (Happy New Year to all our Jewish freinds!)
Tomorrow is also September 30th, which has it’s own significance in this mess as the 3rd quarter results will be calculated based upon values at the end of the day. This is the “mark to market” provision of Sarbanes-Oxley that Dave Ramsey and others are correctly screaming about. And if you thought June 30 figures were bad, don’t even wonder about those that are coming now. (How it works, is an asset must be listed at current market value—that sounds good on the surface, especially in light of Enron and others—but in reality, it’s a disaster and here’s why. Let’s say you have an asset you bought for $100 dollars and it’s now worth $20. You’ll have to say it’s worth $20. Good? Well.. what if you have NO intention of selling it at $20. You plan to hold it until value goes up and you’re in a position to do so. Report it at $20 and you may no longer be in that position. Your credit worthiness will drop through the floor. The law of unintended consequences again.)
This is a time when the coming election will help your voice in congress. Everyone in the House is up for relection, and enough of them were afraid of you (after many of you called and voiced your displeasure at this bill) that they voted against it. That surprised a lot of people—- after all, look at how easily fear from 9-11 ushered in the Patriot Act. What that did to your civil liberties is a walk in the park compared to what this bill does to your economic freedom. Here’s a copy of the bill in it’s form this morning. Read it, and we’ll talk about it specifically tonight. Hint—look at how states rights are obliterated. And that’s not the half of it.
Wonder how JP Morgan was able to buy WaMu in the middle of all this. That’s here. Many people calling for regulation right now (democrats can’t resist it and republicans are right beside them in a different form)… but realize it was government intervention that created what we’ve got.. more government invertention will NOT solve it. Unless the solution you seek is total government control. More on that tonight at 9 (CT).
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 26, 2008 1:10 AM (PT) So many of you have asked about pictures from our Alaska drive. Here you go. More to come.
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 25, 2008 10:30 PM (PT) Apologies for the lack of posts.. Everything from a broadband modem dying during the show to me feeling like I was dying after it has happened. But if I think I've got it tough, imagine how exhausted Bernanke and Paulson must be from the furious tap dance they're doing. Worse yet, Congress is dancing with them.
Hopefully you're disgusted at the likes of the Hildebeast forcing welfare bailouts for irresponsible borrowers into a bill that is unconscionable. What congress should be doing is fully investigating how we got into this mess. Now you're talking fraud and reckless irresponsibility on the part of bankers and those heading the government and quasi-government entities designed to protect us. First dissolve the Federal Reserve which is neither federal nor a reserve. Whether they're involvement was mismanagement or malfeasance is superfluous at this point. Apart from the outrage that we've turned over our country's financial system to private bankers, is the reality that their stated purpose-- to stop wild economic cycles-- is impossible-- for anyone, including them. But I digress. There's a good website dealing with the bailout. Click here for OpenMarket.org. Really good stuff!.
Then here's the breaking story of the WaMu takeover. Mixed emotions on this one. WaMu has not been my favorite player, but seeing JP Morgan/Chase get bigger is no joy either. My theory that all industries will contract until there are a handful of players in an oligopoly that the governemnt can control (or act in in collusion with) is increasingly accurate.
Did anyone say JP Morgan? Turns out they're the derivatives king. Walter Burien's cafr1.com has all sorts of info. But as for a specific link for bank derivative holdings, click here. Citi is #2, B of A #3. Wondering what the real status of mortgages in America is? We're not talking derivatives or the investment shenanigans that led to the mess we're really in, but just mortgages themselves. Click here for the report.
Dave Ramsey's got an idea with merit. Rollback the Sarbanes-Oxley rules in this case. It would work too.. if we were dealing with legit investments-- but ifas some say, we're selling the same asset to multiple people, maybe it's not the ultimate solution. Even so it's a good idea to add to the mix. His reasoning is here..
Finally, a lot of folks asking about Ron Paul's take on the bailout. As you must know, he's dead set against it. Read some of his take, here. There's a lot more I should be adding but that should keep you busy for a while. Assuming all hasn't imploded, we'll have 3 hours of Trivia tonight at 9 CT.
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2008 11:16 PM (MT) The Bumper Stumpers are up under "Who Did That Record" to your left. As for tonight's Questions Of The Hour here you go:
In 1964, for the first time, the ADA—American Dental Association—recognized this as effective. What? Electric Tooth Brushes. (2 brands were recognized but the ADA stressed the claims must be limited to their cleansing value, not any therapeutic claim.
In 1964 Purdue University professors Ogborn and Shankland believe studying THIS would lead them to developing more reliable computers. Using micro-miniature components and tiny electrodes attached to THIS, they were able to monitor electrical activity. What is THIS? A cockroach. (Monitoring the electrical activity they were able to pick up frequencies and phase changes in the signals carried by the nerves. They learned that fibers called stretch receptors send out a code that is picked up and translated by ganglia and then relayed back via nerves as orders to activate muscles. They also learned that stretch receptors seem capable of measuring displacement and velocity, thereby serving as natural transducers. In Britain they’re studying the similarity of mosquitoes to programmed computers.)
According to those who covered fashion trends, in 1964 fashion was hit with a shock wave of BLANK world wide. Fill in the blank: Nudity. (Deeply plunging necklines in Paris, and American movies such as Tom Jones, culminated by the topless bathing suit designed by Rudi Gernreich. Sheer evening dresses, flimsy see through fabrics in flesh color made dress-less the look of dress up.)
And that's it until Monday night. I'll be back here to tell you what's on my mind before the show. I've already got several ideas and you can imagine that ruminating on them all weekend will make them appropriately ripe. Till then...
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19, 2008 4:00 AM (CT)Trivia tonight at 9 (CT). Talk to you then. Apologies for those who listen online to the replay of the show. The first half hour was not recorded (I was lucky to get it out live. Rectified it after that. Should be good to go tonight. But since it's trivia, listen live and call in if you can.
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 8:30 PM (CT) Many apologies for not writing over the past month. I started several times and then something (like not enough bandwidth or a reaction from anesthesia) got in the way. Hopefully you've been listening and you're up to date on what we've been discussing-- which as you can imagine centered around the DNC, the RNC and the financial meltdown we're just beginning to realize. I hate to be proven right about this, but I've been screaming about the phony debt fueled economy for over 20 years now. Anyone who thought the prosperity of the Clinton years was real will find out the hard way that they were wrong-- which is not to say it started there or is the work of any one party.
This really goes back to the recession of the 70s. The concept that the fed can manipulate us out of natural economic cycles (which is how the Federal Reserve was sold to the people 100 years ago) is fatally flawed. To that end, the accounting changes of the '80s did much to guarantee we'd be in this mess, but nothing has been more astonishing than the housing bubble and it's ramifications. Not only financially, but sociologically as well. When books are written in coming centuries, the real issue will be how the middle class was sold a bill of goods that they had prosperity by making easy credit readily available to take the place of rising income and assets, and doing so to the point that the masses were lulled into complacency. Let's hope the final chapter does not end with those masses demanding more government programs to help them.
I'll get back to posting daily and will have links for you as well. For today we were just glad to get the live stream back up. The computer that sends the audio to the server decided to die rather than accept a routine upgrade. Last night was interesting on the air, to say the least. but if you were trying to listen on line you didn't hear that-- or anything live. You will hear whatever it is we'll be saying tonight. as all's good to go (for the moment-- don't ask about this fix).
I shouldn't sign off though, without telling you that Friday's Bumper Stumpers (and most of the bumpers for the past month are up under "Who Did That Record?" to your left. As for the 3 questions of the hour for this past Friday:
In 1981, for the first time ever, (debuting in September for the 1982 model year), a US made automobile could boast of this. Boast of what? Getting 40 miles to the gallon. Several foreign cars could boast it (and best it) but the Chevy Chevette of '82 was the first American car to claim it.
In 1981, the Reagan administration came up with legislation designed to end illegal immigration. Employers would be forbidden to hire illegals except in this circumstance. What circumstance? When the had fewer than 4 works on the payroll. (Absolutely astonishing isn't it?)
While 1981 saw the emergence of solo vocalists from popular bands (Glenn Frey and Don Henley from the Eagles, Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers, Donald Fagen of Steele Dan, Carl Wilson from the Beach Boys, Deborah Harry of Blondie, Lionel Richie of the Commodores, for instance), soloists returning to groups were rare. Grace Slick returned to Jefferson Starship after a year apart, but the reuniting of these performers after a decade was seen as a major surprise. their live appearance drew over half a million people. Who are they? Simon & Garfunkel-- Central Park 1981 concert after 11 years as solo acts.
Talk to you in half an hour.
AUGUST 2008
TUESDAY AUGUST 12, 2008 10:30 PM (CT) Talking to Angelo Lobo now about his new documentary Support? System Down" --the travesty of child support affects more Americans than any other government injustice. It's NOT for the Children. It's a bureaucracy that ensnares non-custodial parents without regard for their actual income or their ability to be involved with their children (which is generally at the whim of the custodial parent and rarely if ever upheld by the court). If this doesn't get you involved, what will? Check out "Support? System Down" here.
Last hour we talked with Paul Lake. His Cry Wolf is a must read. Click on it for a good price from Amazon. It's a political fable a la "Animal Farm" that well demonstrates where we're going with our immigration policies. Liberals hate it because it's hard to argue with the logic in it, but I think you'll enjoy reading it and hopefully passing it on to folks not as persuaded as you to the dangers of unbridled immigration (legal or otherwise).
MONDAY AUGUST 11, 2008 3:01 AM (CT) Alex Jones joins me tonight at 9 (CT). As you can guess there's plenty to talk about. Listen if you can, and check out Alex' Infowars.com in the meantime!
THURSDAY AUGUST 7, 2008 Can't tell you the time because I can't seem to access the site to get this online. I'll keep trying but at this moment I don't know when I'll be successful. I hope you heard tonight's show. It featured 3 hours with Lindsey Williams who knows the inside story on exactly what's going on with our alleged oil crisis. Good news, after a spike in prices, oil will go back to $50 a barrel. Bad news, the American economy will collapse in the process. order Lindsey's DVDs, CDs, Books, by calling 800-321-2900.
SUNDAY AUGUST 3, 2008 8:00 PM (CT) Apologies for not posting the last few days. Still recovering from the Alaska drive. Several things I should mention. The first is the fund for the wives of the border agents who just lost their appeal. It's a national outrage but on a personal level, to say these two families are in dire financial straits is an understatement. You probably heard me (or folks like Glenn Beck) talking about their plight. If you have a couple of bucks you can donate, everything will help. Divide what you can give into two checks. Make one out to Monica Ramos and the other to Patty Compean. Mail it to: Edd Henndee, Taste Of Texas, 10505 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Eventually I'll get an info page an a links page for the website but for now, thanks for reading through this blog.
Next, a link you've been asking me to post. We talked about this last Monday, but should you have missed it, Ron Paul says some big events are about to occur. Read about it here. Thanks to Alex Jones for the link and a great job in getting the word out, as always.
Got some interesting things going on this week. Tomorrow night, we'll talk to Mark Krikorian who has just released "The New Case Against Immigration (both legal and illegal)" (Click on his name for a good price from Amazon.) Mark is executive director for the Center for Immigration Studies (cis.org), and as such he'll tell you the problem is not the immigrants-- it's us and our policies.
Tuesday we'll talk to Lawrence Solomon. He's written "The Deniers" (click on his name too) about the world renowned scientists who are standing up against global warming's hysteria, politics and fraud, and those who are fearful to do so. Fortunately more credible people are coming out all the time to brand global warming junk science, at best.
And Wednesday we'll talk with Jerry Corsi. That's always a wonderful show and timely too-- as "The Obama-nation" has just been released and already everyone is talking about it. We will too.(Yep, click on his name too for a good price on the new book.)
Oh, in case you were wondering, these are all live shows and chances are good we'll have time for your calls too.
JULY 2008
WEDNESDAY JULY 30, 2008 5:00 PM (CT) Apologies for not posting the last few nights. The laptop turned on me Monday morning, and my resulting snit caused me to ignore all things online. Fortunately the Mac folks near us (actually it's fortunate there ARE Mac folks near us) had me up and running last night... but then, if you heard the show, you know about the plethora of technical issues that befell me from afar last night. Luckily I keep this in perspective and we wound up having a good time anyway. (At least I did.)
OK, you probably want links to a couple things we discussed last night and Monday night: Lindsey Williams expounding on what he can say about the truth of our oil 'crisis'. We'll try to have him on soon, but in the meantime, read this. Then there's the real size of the Fannie & Freddie melt down which makes Enron pale by comparison. That's here. Go ahead and read it, you won't be seeing it on network news anytime soon.
And speaking about reading.. I've told you about Del Staecker before. His first two novels captured me completely and I've been looking forward to talking with him. I'm going to do it tonight, and you're going to hear it-- if you listen to the show at 9 (CT) His latest is "Shaved Ice". I recommend it. If you want an even better deal than Amazon (30% off and free shipping!) check out cablepublishing.com.
Oh, before I go I wanted to get you a link to The Flaming Liberal's column on NewOrleans.com. "Elwood" (who is really David C. Bellinger)is in his element. Read the first column here. Needless to say, he'll take the view on the left. Jeff Crouere who is also the political editor for NewOrleans.com will take the view on the right. Tony G. is in the middle. "Elwood" drives a lot of conservatives crazy-- but that's a good thing. Maybe he'll prompt his foes to act. If one percent of our citizenry (with no intent beyond personal patriotism-- unlike our oh so involved lobbyists or special interest groups who will become less important as more of us awaken and speak out)was as passionate and involved as "Elwood", we'd have a better chance at remaining a republic.
THURSDAY JULY 24, 2008 11:59 PM (PT)Turns out I didn't upload that Federal Reserve show as promised-- but hopefully you enjoyed Ron Paul and Charlotte Iserbyt. If you check the stream now (here) you will hear about the Federal Reserve. And if you check me out Monday, I'll be back live with a LOT on my mind. I'll type to you before that though. In the meantime have a great weekend.
TUESDAY JULY 22, 2008 9:00 PM (PT) Prince Rupert tonight and an internet connection which seems to work. I've uploaded tonight's show to the server. Good stuff on the history of the Federal Reserve. I think the replay schedule is back on track on XM, but in case you can't hear it there, you can hear it here. Back live on Monday. I'll try to type to you tomorrow. Thanks!
FRIDAY JULY 18, 2008 12:30 PM (AT) Leaving Tok now and wanted to get David Adair up on the stream. Probably our most requested (and fun) show. Click on your tower to the upper left to access it.
THURSDAY JULY 17, 2008 3:31 PM (AT) Here I am at HAARP. Pictorial proof coming, not that you'll see more than me and the signs saying it's HAARP. But I thought I'd take a moment to let you know that the show you should have heard last night on XM (Gary Matsumoto) has been running online since last night. You can access it by clicking on the tower to your upper left. Not sure why they haven't run on XM this week, but if you can't (or don't want to) listen online, fear not, we'll replay them in August.
TUESDAY JULY 15,2008 11:50 PM (AT) In Wasilla tonight. Not sure why XM listeners heard Jesse Ventura tonight (though it's priceless to hear him expound) but I've put the LEAP show that was slated to run, online now. LEAP is Law Enforcement Against Prohibition and if you're looking for the ammunition to debate those who think drugs should be illegal, you'll get it with this show. Access it here.
Going to Valdez tomorrow. WiFi willing, will write more then.
MONDAY JULY 14, 2008 11:50 PM (AT) Yes, Alaska Time. Writing from Homer. Many apologies for those of you trying to listen online. All the places that said they had WiFi didn't which explains why July 4th's trivia show ran for an entire week. The good news is that tonight's show is up and playing. Check it out -- if you need help accessing it, click here.
SATURDAY JULY 5, 2008 12:01 AM (CT) Alaska Highway here we come.. but before we go, I probably should fill you in on the trivia questions we used as Instant Wins:
1. In December 1982, the government no longer limited and controlled this. What? The interest rates banks could offer. (This was especially attractive for the new Money Market and NOW accounts that were authorized in the same bill.)
2. The longest jury trial in US history ended in 1987 (longest up to that time-- longer since). Who was the defendant? Monsanto. They failed to warn residents in a Missouri town of the dangers of a chemical spill. Plaintiffs weren't actually harmed by the Dioxin in any provable way but due to Monsanto's duplicity and failure to be forthcoming, they were awarded 16.2 million dollars in punitive damages. Monsanto won on appeal (because there were no real physical injuries)but their history of covering up the facts was well documented, and shocking.)
Bonus question: 1983 saw a great deal of consumer complaints due to deregulation. While price was a concern, this was the major issue. What? Quality.
3. Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Dey, Louis Gosset, Jr., Claude Akins and David Hasselhoff have one thing in common what? They were the lead cast members for ill-fated TV shows that were cancelled within a month of their debut. In 1980,Pfeffer was in "B.A.D. Cats", Gossett was in "The Lazarus Syndrome" and Hasselhoff was in "Semi-Tough". In 1977, Dey was in "Loves Me, Loves Me Not" and Akins was in "Nashville 99".
If you're wondering about the Bumper Stumpers, click on 'who did that record' to your right.
I'll try to update you regularly about our trip (wifi dependent though word is the Yukon is well equipped :) but in the meantime, the shows you'll hear will be the ones you've requested. You'll hear them in the regular times on XM (live on 165 and replayed on 158) and hopefully you'll hear the streams too.. but the times of that may be inexact depending on where we are at the moment. You might want to make a note of what's on and when:
MONDAY JULY 7, 2008: Alex Jones-- no need to say more. Listen to his shows today, you'll call him a conspiratorialist. Listen to what he said a decade ago, you'll call him a historian. Yesterday's conspiracies are tomorrow's history. Find out what's in store for you. Check out all his videos. Info is at infowars.com
TUESDAY JULY 8, 2008: the late Madeleine Cosman. This woman was a wealth of information about the emerging diseases that have been coming across the border with our immigrants. Hear about the real cost of the alien invasion.
WEDNESDAY JULY 9, 2008: Al Cuppett. If you've heard the government has plans to put us in concentration camps but want to hear all the details and generally feel the need to be scared witless, this is the show for you. Info about Al is here.
THURSDAY JULY 10, 2008: Mary Ann Winkowski talks ghosts. I should say she talks TO them. Here's her website. She's an absolute delight. Here's a good price on her book from Amazon.
FRIDAY JULY 11, 2008 Jack Armstrong, Art Laboe and Ron Diamond. Three guys who brought you radio the way it should be heard!
MONDAY JULY 14, 2008 Walter Burien. The government is sitting on billions of dollars they don't tell you about. Hear about the real budget-- the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report-- the feds, states, cities, towns, school boards and more are awash in cash they keep from you. Check out Walter's site here.
TUESDAY JULY 15, 2008 The War on Drugs is a war on you. Legalization is the only answer-- and many cops know it. LEAP is Law Enforcement Against Prohibition. Founder Peter Crist joins me for a full show. What he says makes sense-- and one of his arguments is a show stopper on this topic.
WEDNESDAY JULY 16, 2008 Gary Matsumoto talks about Vaccine A in the first 2 hours. His incredible book documents what the government knows about the Anthrax vaccine and the truth behind Gulf War Syndrome. If they'll do this to the military, you don't think they'll do it to you? The third hour features John Coleman who debunks Global Warming nicely.
THURSDAY JULY 17, 2008 The infamous David Adair interview. Does the government really know all about UFOs? David will tell you a fascinating story which will answer that question.
FRIDAY JULY 18, 2008. Lots of talk about bringing back the Fairness Doctrine-- but what do you know about it? Did you know it's not about 'equal time' (except in specific election instances)? Find out what it is and why you don't need to worry about it's return-- but don't rest easy. There IS something to fear-- the end of Net Neutrality. You need to hear why the internet may not be free in the unfettered access sense in the future. And it won't be because of what the government does-- more aptly, what the government doesn't-- unless we the people push this issue. In many ways it's the most important issue of our time. Hear all about it and the Fairness Doctrine in the first two hours tonight and then check out Pat Boone in the third.
MONDAY JULY 21, 2008 The Ron Paul interview. If you didn't catch it the first time, or didn't listen online, you'll hear it now. That's followed by Charlotte Iserbyt and the Deliberate Dumbing Down of America. Why don't people know what's in the constitution? Why can't Johnny read? Why are we failing in math and science? Because it's the grand plan. It's not a conspiracy-- it's a researchable fact. Hear all about it.
TUESDAY JULY 22, 2008 You probably know that the Federal Reserve is neither Federal nor a Reserve, but if you haven't heard Andre Eggelletion talk about it, you're in for a treat. His book, "Thieves In The Temple" is a good read. Click on it for a good price.
WEDNESDAY JULY 23, 2008 Catherine Austin Fitts was targeted by the government because she uncovered massive financial waste and had a way to stop it. For that they wanted to arrest, if not kill, her. Hear her story and check out her website here.
THURSDAY JULY 24, 2008 Charles Cox talks plenty of people who have one thing in common. They're dead. He's got a few messages for the living too in this 3 hour enjoyable show.
FRIDAY JULY 25, 2008 Dr. Demento in hour one; Jerry Blavat, hour two; and Steve Bryant in the final hour. A fine way to spend Friday night! I'll be back Monday the 28th!
FRIDAY JULY 4, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) Happy 4th of July. We'll celebrate with three big hours of trivia, live tonight at 9 (CT). (If you usually have trouble getting through, you'll probably have an easier time tonight-- holidays usually come with lighter caller volume.)
THURSDAY JULY 3, 2008 12:15 AM (CT) Happy Birthday Jerry Blavat! It's the big 68 for The Geator and he's still going stronger than ever! I did it again, ended the last show without telling you what I said I'd tell ya. In this case, the truth about Obama's 2nd Amendment stance. That he can say he upholds it with a straight face belies everything he's done since being a public figure. We'll go over it in detail. Speaking of Obama, we'll also tell you that if Canadians could vote, they'd vote him in right now. Read the poll results here. Quick-- what's the state with the largest refugee population per capita? The answer (FLorida) won't surprise you. But number two will throw you, guaranteed. It's Minnesota. Find out why I know this. There's a story, and you'll hear it tonight!
WEDNESDAY JULY 2, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) Finally, a reason to want all the surveillance that's wiping out our privacy. Well almost. But there are two cases where videotape saved the day. The first was a defendant set up by a couple of cops-- framed for a drug charge. The officers both swore under oath that the story was as they told it. The guy was definitely going to the big house. No doubt about it... until the defense attorney produced.... the tape. The security cameras in the defendant's apartment complex caught the entire episode and proved that what the court just heard was frighteningly fictional. The prosecution moved for dismissal. But just think where this guy would be without that tape? Read it here.
Then read this. You think you want socialized medicine? check out a city hospital in New York where a woman was involuntarily deposited in the emergency room where she sat 24 hours later still waiting for a room until she... died. No one noticed when she went rigid in her seat for 30 minutes.. after which she fell face first to the floor. They didn't come over for the 30 minutes she was there writhing, nor for another 30 minutes when she was still.. when they finally did, after kicking her gently (is that an oxymoron?) they determined she would no longer need a room. But it gets worse-- the city hospital was on notice for over a year for inhumane conditions. They had reason to know this was the standard treatment. Read about what they're (not) going to do about it and think twice about having the government involved in your health care.
TUESDAY JULY 1, 2008 3:31 AM (CT) For what does Jesse Ventura really stand? How does he feel about various issues? Is he the answer? Can he win? Will he run? What does he know that you don't about the system? Those are just a few of my questions. Many of the things surrounding the former Minnesota governor who managed to take office as an independent are in his new book, "Don't Start The Revolution Without Me", (click on it for a good price from Amazon) but there's nothing like hearing it first hand. I think you'll find you resonate with much of what he says, but there are a few things which may leave you scratching your head. He's generous enough to spend an hour with us tonight. and I've already got three hours worth of questions! We'll talk to you at 9 (CT).
JUNE 2008
MONDAY JUNE 30, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) Seems all the candidates are in agreement and the majority of the public is too-- we need government health care. In truth, we need anything but the government in our health care-- and their involvement is exactly why we're in the mess we face now. Who better to tell the story than an economist from Canada who has studied this issue for years. Sally Pipes came to America in part because she wanted her choice of health care. What's been happening since her arrival in the early '90s has her concerned. She's written "Miracle Cure" (click on it for a good price from Amazon) and she'll tell you what will work and why Canada's system isn't the answer. I'm not so hopeful the bulk of the populous will listen, but I hope you'll hear her out tonight at 9 (CT).
Then we'll talk about CPS gone mad-- again. This time in Denver where a boy was yanked from a street in front of his home on the flimsiest of complaints that turned out to have no merit. The kid is home now. And still having nightmares from the treatment he received in foster care. Read it here and be afraid-- very afraid.
SATURDAY JUNE 28, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Bumper Stumpers are up under "Who Did That Record". And in case you were wondering about the 3 questions I threw out: In 1988, this former option became standard equipment on GM cars. What? AM/FM radios. (Before that, AM radios were standard with FM being an option.) In 1987, Chrysler made a big public apology.. for what? Disconnecting odometers on 60,000 cars. In 1987, the government figures on this were released showing a 50% rise in this potentially deadly problem over the previous year alone. What problem? Errors by air traffic controllers. (Near collisions on the ground and in the air were definitely on the rise.)
Many requests for the writings of our forefathers which prove they meant the individual AMerican when they referred to 'militia' in the 2nd Amendment. Much of what I have (which is a lot more than what I read on the air) comes from a variety of sources, as opposed to websites.. but that said, here's a link that will do the issue proud. And here's one confirming the majority of our states feel the same way. Spread it around. Each time I hear someone say 'militia' meant the government, not only does it belie everything for which our forefathers stood, it also demonstrates a startling lack of understanding of the Bill of Rights. All 10 amendments limit how the government can restrict us. (Yes even the 10th does that as it guarantees the feds will not over take states rights-- a big concern for our forefathers who wanted to ensure the feds would not become so powerful as to thwart our liberty-- they'd collectively cringe if they saw the constant violations of that amendment). Nothing in these 10 guarantee the federal government rights over the people-- so to except the 2nd as uniquely different is ignorant or intentionally biased. But read their thinking for yourself in the above 2 links. Talk to you Monday!
FRIDAY JUNE 27, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) We had the Mad Cowboy on earlier. If you haven't seen his website, check it out here. Howard Lyman spent 4 decades as a cattle rancher as his family did 3 decades before him. He quit eating meat when he realized that the very USDA regulations designed to protect us are actually what might give us Mad Cow Disease. Think that's far fetched. Read the info on his site. (You won't feel much better about eating vegetables either.. grow your own. Can't do that? Buy local from directly from farmers and co-ops.) On a happier note-- trivia tonight-- three big hours. And an amazing announcement-- we're mailing the prizes this weekend. So if you've won anything between May 9th and tonight, you'll have it next week.
THURSDAY JULY 26, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) By tonight's show, we'll know whether we have a constitution or not. And I'm not being overly dramatic or overstating the issue. The supreme court will have ruled on the DC Gun ban. If they find it constitutional, you can bet your second amendment rights will totally vanish. Our Republic will be over. Stick a fork in it. The only reason I'm not apoplectic is I truly believe they will overturn the DC law. Unfortunately I also believe they'll do it narrowly enough that celebrations over the affirmation of the second amendment won't be completely warranted. You may be reading this after the decision is handed down, but my take is we'll avert losing it all, but won't gain much. What I know for sure is we'll talk about it tonight at 9. Oh, if the DC gun ban is overturned? Expect DC to ask for time to "adjust" their law from a ban to a regulation to properly comply with the court. And expect that to take a long time.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 25, 2008 1:00AM (CT) With very little fanfare the House passed the bill protecting phone companies from giving up your data without a warrant. The Senate is poised to do so-- with both presidential candidates being among the Yea's. Read it here and weep. Bad before, it'll be worse once Telcos know you have no recourse. So how bad are gas prices? A 7 and 9 year old kid in Salt Lake City are really feeling the pain. Their mom had to ditch cable over it. Read about their protest here. (Amazingly, Iran's nutso president is the only one telling it straight. If you missed that from last night's show, here's a link.) All that and more tonight.
TUESDAY JUNE 24, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) If you scroll down to the second entry in last Thursday's post, you'll see a link to my outrage over the Housing Bill. At the time I was focusing on the hidden provision that reports all your electronic transactions (from credit cards to Amazon.com) to the government. Turns out everything about this bill is an outrage. I'm talking more than the basic premise which is we taxpayers should bail out people too dumb to understand what happens with adjustable rate mortgages (and that aside, the emotional claim that millions of people will be out of their homes does not mean they'll be on the street-- it means they'll be renters-- like millions of other Americans who have been playing by the financial rules we all should understand). What's got me heated now is the fact that Chris Dodd (Mr. Countrywide VIP) did not author his own bill-- Bank of America which is acquiring Countrywide did. Read this and be really upset. Then we'll talk.
MONDAY JUNE 23, 2008 5:00 AM (CT) First things first-- if you missed the answers to the 3 questions I threw out Friday night during trivia, here you go: In 1975, discriminating on the basis on gender when it pertained to this became against the law. Pertained to what? Credit discrimination on the basis of gender was addressed in a federal law.
The 1976 democratic platform included welfare reform. It outlined a specific plan to fix it. What was it. A federally guaranteed income level for every American. In '76, it was reported that UAW labor agreements came closer to one of their major goals. What? A shorter work week. Speaking of work weeks, the week hasn't begun and already I've got plenty to talk to you about. Want an example?
Obama is really for change-- he's already changed the presidential seal. You know the one-- with the eagle, arrows, olive branch and the motto "e pluribus unum". It's that motto part that bothers socialists. As you likely know "e pluribus unum" means 'from many into one'. It's the philosophy behind our country-- the melting pot our ancestors held in such esteem. Regardless of how diverse or far flung one's background, Americans were proud to blend into an assimilated culture that held possibilities unthinkable in the old country. Our strength was in our unity. Past tense, you'll note, as many of today's socialists adore multiculturalism. Louis Farrakhan at least is honest when he denigrates our motto-- Al Gore on the other hand simply claims it means the opposite: from one into many (leaving us again to wonder whether he's duplicitous or a dope-- many are betting on both, but at least he's consistent-- global warming is another example of his tendency to confuse the truth). But Mr. Obama didn't get into that debate. He simply added the presidential seal to his 'we gotta change' list. His podium is now adorned with a similar rendering (including his web address, so don't go thinking it's official anything). Apparently he's OK with latin, just not 'e pluribus unum'. His choice is 'vero possumus', a rough translation of his campaign slogan 'Yes we can.' It's up to us to let him know.. oh no you can't. Want to see the seal, and read more about it? Here's a Newsmax article. Talk to you tonight.
THURSDAY JUNE 19, 2008 8:00 PM (CT) If you listen with any regularity, you know one of my big issues is the blatant unconstitutionality and patent unfairness of the child support system. Family court start to finish is NOT for the children. Non-custodial parents are targeted financially-- and in some cases the "children" don't see a dime-- not a snafu either-- the way it's designed. And that doesn't even address the issue of child rearing and custody. Until an issue surrounding a child is heard in its entirety-- not bifurcated into money separate from custody, it will never be for the children. Federalizing child support made it even more draconian-- and now many states force non-custodial parents into paying them rather than the custodial parent directly-- even when there's no evidence of any intent not to pay and comply. I could go on-- and we will tonight, with Glenn Sacks, a father who has dedicated his life to speaking out on this issue. What amazes me is that with the millions of people ensnared in this insanity that people aren't close to rioting in the streets. There's a lot to say, and Glenn will be saying it all. Later in the show, he'll take your calls. In the meantime, check out his website here.
Got another outrage we won't have time to discuss but hopefully you'll have time to take a look at this and call your senators. In the middle of the senate housing bill is a provision for all credit card companies to report every transaction you make. (That's you and everyone else.. and it extends to all online activity like paypal too.) Talk about an invasion of privacy. Just how will this federal database be used? I can think of several ways-- and all of them are bad, including new ways to penalize non-custodial parents, so maybe we will talk about it after all. if not, we'll get to it Monday. Talk to you in about an hour!
WEDNESDAY JUNE 17, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) Imagine living in an apartment and getting a letter from management that the utility company would be coming in to your unit and removing all your light bulbs. They'll install CFLs. They don't mention that they're potentially toxic, and a whole host of other things. Residents in a complex in Idaho don't have to imagine it. They've got the letter in their hands. Read about it here. Not enough state control for you? We'll talk about congress wanting to nationalize oil here, and Germany jailing parents for the crime of homeschooling. All in moments.
TUESDAY JUNE 17, 2008 2:30 AM (CT) Irish voters had a chance to weigh in on their sovereignty last week-- Americans have not been so lucky. The house passed the Merida initiative which will send 1.1 billion of your tax dollars to Mexico os they can secure their southern border while we continue to let ours remain porous. Want to see how your reps voted? Here's a link. Want to read the bill? Here's the info. Now it's back to the senate foreign relations committee where Chris Dodd not only wants to pass it, but he's willing to soften some of the conditions required of Mexico! You might want to be calling your senators now and saying NO on the Merida Initiative, HR 6028. 202-224-3121 --tell them your home state and they'll connect you. Or call direct yourself. Here's a link to info on all 50.
No wonder both McCain and Obama are meeting with La Raza this summer (a disgrace in itself.) So can we top all that for tonight's ire? Tune in and find out.
SATURDAY JUNE 14, 2008 12:01 AM (CT) We made it through Friday the 13th.. and through trivia! All the way through trivia and I never revealed the open question answers.. The sale of this product got a great boost when law tennis came into vogue in England in 1870.. what product? Lawn mowers. (Prior to that, lawns were cut with scythes-- not effective unless the lawn was wet-- and a real detriment when the tennis players were present :)
Experts recommend using this as a cleaning solution for diamonds. What? Vodka. Most people know that Paul Revere was a silversmith in Boston. But he had another advertised occupation. What? Dentist.
Worse yet, I never revealed one of the previous week's answers: On the Italian Riviera, there is a culinary tradition that a good soup most always contain this. What? One stone from the sea. (This stems from the days when an Italian Fisherman's catch was scooped up in nets-- fish and stones frequently ended up together in the same cooking pot.)
Some celebratin' for Monday-- Ireland struck down the Lisbon treaty which would bring down total EU control on the 27 member nations.. 26 of them didn't put it to a popular vote-- Ireland followed its constitution and did. Already the EU (and leaders of some countries) are urging Ireland politicians to ignore the will of the people. While they'd like to do so, the prime minister assures the populous he will heed their wishes. I'll give you all the details on that, Monday at 9. Talk to you then!
FRIDAY JUNE 13, 2008 3:31 AM (CT)Trivia tonight-- 3 hours. Talk to you at 9 (CT).
THURSDAY JUNE 12, 2008 1:45 AM (CT) We'll talk with John McManus from the John Birch Society tonight-- the place I always turn when I want to check the voting records of candidates and elected officials. We'll talk about Obama, McCain & Barr-- as well as the unending plans for the North American Union tonight at 9 (CT).
WEDNESDAY JUNE 11, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Believe it or not, Americans are more confident in Obama's economic plans after they hear him speak about it. If that doesn't stun you, nothing will. All the details tonight. We'll also talk about the Los Angeles Unified School district that has banned a book because it tells kids that heir Spanish or African ancestry is a strength. What's wrong with that? It undermines the basis of affirmative action. And be afraid, very afraid.. every member of the European Union has signed on to a plan that arrest and extradite you for your political incorrectness. Can't believe it? Read these details and check me out tonight at 9 (CT).
Finally my buddy Dick Kulpa, the artistic genius behind The Weekly World News has a new website-- check out captcartoon.com. And should you be in South Florida and happen to have kids, you'll see a great idea for your next party.
TUESDAY JUNE 10, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) The Canadian government has ordered a Christian pastor to renounce his faith, apologize for his beliefs and pay a $5,000 fine. The issue, as you might guess is homosexuality, but the implications are much further reaching than that. Frankly I don't agree with the pastor, but I certainly support his right to his convictions-- even more significant in this case, heartfelt religious convictions. By the way, this wasn't liberal Quebec or Ontario-- this is conservative Alberta-- Red Deer, in fact. On top of it all, the human rights court agreed that the 'victim' was not harmed. The defendant sure was. Read about it here.
While we're talking about freedom of belief, if you're as outraged as I am over Texas yanking 460 kids out of homes with no evidence of abuse, you might want to sign a petition seeking the impeachment of the judge who signed that order-- and has since done her best to thwart the reunification of the kids with their parents. Oh by the way, did you hear the state vaccinated the children against the express wishes (or knowledge) of the parents? The outrage grows. Here's the petition. Talk to you tonight at 9 (CT)
MONDAY JUNE 9, 2008 2:30 AM (CT) We'll talk with Alex at 9 (CT)-- he'll fill us in on the rest of the Bilderberg meeting story. Sounds like Hillary and Obama were there, but was McCain? And if not, is that a sign that the king makers have decided he won't sit on the throne? Lots to discuss-- in the meantime if you want to read about that and other atrocities, go to infowars.com or prisonplanet.com.
At 10 (CT) we'll talk to June Maxam. June has worked tirelessly for years to highlight government corruption. The info on her website is often not available anywhere else, and many of the stories detail sordid tales of power and injustice. Not surprisingly, since she won't back down and shut up, June too often finds herself a target of that injustice. Know a good lawyer in New York not afraid of representing an outspoken patriot? June needs one now. She'll tell you all about it at 10. Meanwhile, check out her NorthCountryGazette.org.
All that in addition to numerous outrages. Like what?, you ask... Like Mexico demanding the world court intercede in our American judicial system. Read that here.
Oh, one more thing. I heard from Tom Donahue. You might remember his radio show. He was on the air in Dallas in the '90s, and heard across the country on Talk America with "America's Town Forum". He interviewed everyone from Larry Nichols to Terry Reed until his conviction in 1994. The conspiratorialist was found guilty of a conspiracy (including money laundering and a pyramid scheme involving Mexican Pesos which according to various web entries defrauded people out of millions). Donahue has maintained he was innocent, and while some will debate that, no one can dispute his style-- from a prison escape in Florida to running for office behind bars in Pennsylvania (as a Libertarian of course), he's not been boring. He's due for release soon and he's hoping to be back on the air in the future. He asked I pass along his address, for former listeners who wish to write to him. Here it is: Tom Donahue 24979077, Low Security Correctional Institution - Allenwood, Box 1000, White Deer, PA 17887
SATURDAY JUNE 8, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) I realized while playing trivia that we didn't reveal one of the answers from last week: "On the Italian Riviera there is a culinary tradition that a good soup must always contain this. What? One stone from the sea. (This stems from the days when an Italian fisherman's catch was scooped up in nets; fish and stones frequently ended up together in that same cooking pot.)
This week? Here were the two unanswered questions: Experts recommend this as a cleaning solution for diamond jewelry. What? Vodka! This has never been seen in Calama Chile-- but everyone reading this has. What? Rain! So what's up for Monday? Alex Jones with a full report on what happened at the Bilderberg meeting in Virginia. Talk to you then!
FRIDAY JUNE 6, 2008 4:00 AM (CT) Trivia tonight-- 3 hours. Dial early. Don't forget to try our new VoIP lines-- 321-600-0600.
THURSDAY JUNE 5, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) While the Bilderbergs are meeting in Washington (and we'll talk to Alex Jones about that in a half hour or so), Indianapolis is under siege. The Marines are practicing urban warfare-- or are they desensitizing the public? I'll lay it out in a few minutes and you'll decide. Want to read the article? It's here.
WEDNESDAY JUNE 4, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) We made it to the air last night but discovered why we almost didn't-- Adobe Flash updates itself without your knowledge or permission, and it managed to update itself to a version our equipment couldn't handle. Thanks to help from Kent in Cincinnati last night, and Blaine at Comrex today, all's back to normal-- and with their help, it's soon to be back to even better. No question we'll be talking with you in moments. (Also no question that Mercury is in apparent retrograde motion-- making havoc with all electronic, communications and travel.)
So what will we be talking about? This is almost too delicious to ponder. You know how much I dislike the entire child support enforcement system. It's a criminal enterprise as far as I'm concerned. But finally it's working in all Americans' favor. Seems an illegal in Louisiana complained about the garnishment of his wages. His boss told him it was for child support. But I don't have children, exclaimed the illegal. The boss confirmed his name and social security number and then informed the illegal that he either bought or stole a number belonging to someone in arrears on his support so the garnishments would not stop. So a woman in Georgia is getting money from an illegal alien she doesn't know. Don'tcha love it?? Lots more in minutes.
TUESDAY JUNE 3, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) The Hildebeast is conceding right now.. or is she.. the speech is in process and it's definitely delivered in past tense verbiage but the words I concede, withdraw, suspend or anything of finality isn't accompanying the obvious. We'll talk about that, Obama's committee to find a Veep (which includes Caroline Kennedy--- on the three person committee, not as a candidate), and a host of other things in mere moments if I get on the air. It's currently a question to which I better attend right now. You'll know the answer in minutes.
MONDAY JUNE 2, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) You know that old joke about the meaning of mixed emotions. That's what you have when you watch your mother in law drive off a cliff. In your new sports car. Well in this case, the definition is equally stark-- good news: manufacturing jobs may be returning to the US! bad news: with the falling dollar it's cheaper for Volvo to make them here than in Sweden. Here's a link. And if I haven't convinced you that socialized medicine is bad for your health, read this story about a woman who paid privately for a drug that the NHS in England wouldn't provide. Sound OK to you? Not to the NHS which stopped all treatment unless she personally paid for 100% of everything in the future-- which she, like all but the wealthiest of us, was unable to do. Worst part? The NHS is defending their decision! Finally, the alleged Alexander Tyler quote is making the rounds again. 1. There was no Alexander Tyler. 2. Professor Alexander Tytler who does exist never wrote the book (or quote) in question. However it's still a great theory-- that great civilizations last about 200 years and pass through the following stages-- From Bondage to Spiritual Faith, from Faith to Great Courage, from courage to Liberty, from Liberty to Abundance, from Abundance to Complacency. From Complacency to Apathy. From Apathy to Dependence. From Dependence back to Bondage... still think there is a Tyler, or that Tytler wrote it? Here's the Snopes account. Then there's Chelsea Clinton... campaigning for mom by stumping for gun control in... Montana? Montana! Makes you think she has repressed hatred for her mother-- or a total disconnect with reality. Here's that.
MAY 2008
FRIDAY MAY 30, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) 3 big hours of trivia tonight, starting at 9 (CT). Talk to you then!
THURSDAY MAY 29, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) So gas prices are up and what's congress doing? Debating a plan to make them higher. Think I'm kidding? Read this. We'll talk about that and some good news for a change. The Texas Supreme Court has ordered CPS to return the kids they napped from the FLDS folks. Sometimes the system works. That's here. And finally we're about to talk with Dan who is willing to do something about his gripes over high gas prices. Check out his LetUsDrill.com site too.
WEDNESDAY MAY 28, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) We'll talk to Steven Weisman tonight. He's written a great book "The Truth About Avoiding Scams" (click on it for a good price from Amazon)and check out his website here.
TUESDAY MAY 27, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) Just getting started and already outraged. Your reading assignment? Here is a story about immigrants in a Washington state town who do not speak English and have problems communicating with city service employees. What do the feds do? Order the state and local authorities to learn Spanish. Then there's the FCC. Apparently they filed a proposed rulemaking earlier this year that missed our (and many people's) attention. Seems they want to mandate diversity. Here's the proposal, and here's a campaign to 'keep Rush on the air'. (Rush won't be off the air, but the implications of this political correctness are mind numbing. But make no mistake, the greatest threat to free information is still the strong possibility of net neutrality going the way of our other freedoms.) Finally if you wonder why gas prices are high, here's a cogent take on it. Talk to you in minutes!
MONDAY MAY 26, 2008 10:30 PM (CT) Here's that gas calculator I was talking about just now. Punch in your zip code and weep More to the point, you'll also find the cheapest gas near you.
MONDAY MAY 26, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) Happy Memorial Day! We're talking to the Doctor of Liberty now, Dr. Joe Buchman who is running for congress in Utah, and spent the past weekend in Colorado at the Libertarian National Convention. Check out Joe's site TheDoctorWillFreeYouNow.com and check us out live right now!
SATURDAY MAY 24, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Bumper Stumpers from Friday Night Trivia are listed under "Who Did That Record" to your left. As for the 3 open questions for the panelists, we reveal them each hour when they're not guessed but if you missed them:
First Hour: The Big issue in Canada in 1976 divided the Trudeau cabinet. Some of his closest friends resigned. Everyone was upset. One group said doing this would make everyone unsafe. Another group said not doing this would be discriminatory Doing what? Allowing Ottawa and Quebec air traffic controllers to continue to use French, when the international language of air traffic was (and is) English.
Second Hour: The Pentagon was allowed to choose some of the clothes that the star wore in this movie. What movie? Broken Arrow. (The Pentagon was allowed to choose John Travolta's wardrobe so the military would be portrayed positively.)
Third Hour: This city has more homeless cats per square mile than any other in the world. What city? Rome.
I'll be back before Monday's show to share my diatribe of the day. Til then, have a good weekend.
FRIDAY MAY 23, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Trivia tonight..3 big hours. Still a work in progress as to formatting it. Some folks love the idea of competing players on a panel, others prefer individual questions. Your opinion is solicited, and your participation encouraged. Talk to you tonight at 9 (CT).
THURSDAY MAY 22, 2008 8:45 PM (CT) Gonna talk to Mary Ann in a few minutes and she'll tell you if you have ghosts around you (no lie, read the entry below this for details). Great talking to Charles Cox last night. Don't forget to check out his site here. Take the psychic test-- I know you'll do better than I did. You might be surprised by how psychic you are!
THURSDAY MAY 22, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) Where were you 10 years ago? I was on trial, days away from being the only person to ever defeat the LBJ family in open court in Austin, Texas. My radio buddy Robert W. Morgan was dying. Literally. He did, 10 years ago today. If he hasn't passed over, maybe he'll talk to Mary Ann Winkowski tonight. While that's a very long shot, for the first time on my show, she'll take your calls and let you know if you have ghosts around you, and that's not a long shot. It's a given. Don't think she can do it? You're in for a shock then. She can. I can testify to it. You'd be better off calling from home-- but wherever you are, if ghosts are near you, she'll see them. She won't be able to talk with them (she could if you were there in person with her), but she'll be able to describe them. Don't want to know? Then just listen to the stories about other people's ghosts. Me? I'm not certified ghost free. No curses either. Yeah, she can tell you if you're cursed too. Check out her website here, and check her out on the air tonight at 9 CT. And pick up a copy of her book. That's here. A fun read!
WEDNESDAY MAY 21, 2008 7:30 PM (CT) Talking to dead people is all the rage these days, but it's not new-- nor is it what you might think. Charles Cox is a Spiritualist minister and he's going to join me at 9 (CT). He was ordained at Sunset Spiritualist Church in Kansas. Check out their website here. And check us out in an hour and a half. I promise it will be interesting.
WEDNESDAY MAY 21, 2008 12:15 AM (CT) We've talked a lot about the chicanery in the Senate regarding the current Iraq supplemental spending bill. It passed the house, and last week the Senate added an amendment that has nothing to do with defense and everything to do with our lack of it-- yes, thanks to Dianne Feinswein (and Larry Craig), Ag Amnesty is back. Last year when we successfully defeated the massive amnesty bill, I told you it would come back in bits and pieces and we had to be vigilant. Who would have expected part of it to be hidden in a defense bill? Anyone paying attention actually. The entire senate will be voting on it any day now (perhaps today). So please call and let them know of your outrage (be polite of course). Tell them you don't appreciate it being stuck in an unrelated bill (if you do feel that way, as I do).. but perhaps more importantly tell them they it's absolutely unnecessary. It would give around 3 million illegals, legal status for five years, under the misconception that US agriculture will grind to a halt without such a measure. OK, if that were true, it raises a big question about the effectiveness of our wage and working condition laws, but never mind that-- it isn't true. There is a legal visa provision-- H-2A-- that provides for an unlimited number of immigrant ag workers. You better read this. Then read this. Then call 202-224-3121. Thanks!
TUESDAY MAY 20, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) In addition to election coverage a couple more for ya.. read here about the cop who arrested mom and left her infant and juvenile alone on a dark highway. Probably enough said right there-- but what I really wanted to read was the officer was arrested for child abuse. Sadly, we won't know what happened to him but I suspect he's still employed which is a real shame. Then check out another mega church minister arrested for sex crimes here. Gotta wonder whether those fixated on preaching against something such as this, don't have it in their heart to do it themselves themselves. In any case, this man of god wanted to anoint a 13 year old he met online. And finally good news here... the courts confirm that money should be made identifiable and accessible to the blind. It's unconscionable that the Treasury Department would have actually appealed a verdict ordering it, but they did. And lost. The very folks who would force private firms to comply with the ADA, are intent on violating it. Think about that the next time you want the government in charge of something-- like health care. Lots more to say about that too.
TUESDAY MAY 20, 2008 12:01 AM (CT) Oregon and Kentucky primaries today. Before the voting starts the results are in-- Hillary takes Kentucky, Obama aces Oregon. How do we know this? Well if you ask me, it's because the whole thing is fixed and now those arrogantly in charge don't care if you know it, but the charade masters will spin it quite differently. We'll unspin it tonight. Who knows? They could be wrong. Hope would spring eternal but that would require different candidates. As it is, doesn't matter where you put the deck chairs on the titanic, does it?
MONDAY MAY 19, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) Many things on my mind, but I'm increasingly upset that our government is fatally scamming us. We've talked about the move to prohibit us from suing a manufacturer of an FDA approved device or drug when we're injured. What makes that concept more outrageous is the government turns a blind eye to things that can kill us. Childhood vaccines is a major example. Perfectly safe? Read this story about infant primates-- who developed the same autism symptoms of countless children when vaccinated on the same schedule as the government demands-- not recommends... demands at the threat of taking your kids away. The concept that the government should protect us is specious at best. But when it claims it WILL protect us, and proceeds to ignore reality, it's time to restrict the government to only that which is constitutionally mandated. I wish the vaccines were the only example. We'll have more in moments.
SATURDAY MAY 17, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) The three open questions from trivia (which we revealed at the end of the show but in case you missed them..) were:
A group of private citizens in San Diego County is planning to file a large-scale lawsuit in federal court against this. What? Fluoridation in the water via hydrofluosilicic acid.
This is an extremely popular dim sum dish in Asia. Not surprisingly, it isn't popular with Americas. Cooked in a black-bean sauce, the proper way to eat it is whole. What is it? Chicken feet-- you put the entire foot in your mouth, then suck of the meat and spit out the bones-- (that's you. Not me, thank you).
In the middle ages, this belief led to Valentine's Day. People in the Ozarks believed it until the early 1900s. What? That birds and rabbits began mating every year on February 14th.
Wondering about the bumper stumpers? Click on "Who Did That Record" to your left. Trivia is a work in progress.. input is welcome. I've got several more ideas in mind... so add yours. Type to you before Monday's show to talk about that.
FRIDAY MAY 16, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) Trivia tonight-- three hours, with our newer format-- easier to play (harder to get through later in the show, but please keep trying). Either way, hopefully fun to hear. Listen tonight at 9 (CT) and call early!
THURSDAY MAY 15, 2008 12:10 AM (CT) Many citizens thought the concept of a lottery was ungodly-- or at least a blight upon society as they knew it. Wonder how they'll feel when there's another layer of gambling about to be state sanctioned.. this time the citizens won't partake, just investors and governments. It's Lottery Futures! And you thought it was bad enough when it was just commodity futures. So what am I discussing? Gov. Schwarzenegger's plan to borrow from future lottery receipts to pay for state programs. No where is he discussing cutting spending, just, well, there's no better way to put it--- selling lottery futures. The citizens will most likely go along with it-- the alternative is a higher sales tax. Did anyone mention cutting spending? I didn't think so. Read about it here.
Then there's a big debate on showing ID to register to vote. Since the supreme court OK'd Indiana's law requiring state issued photo ID, several other states are considering similar measures. Missouri is contemplating proof of citizenship. What a concept. Every liberal group you can conceive is against it. But look at these figures. Since Arizona in '04 enacted a law requiring proof of citizenship to register, 38,000 registrations have been thrown out. 70% of them were signed by people who certified under penalty of perjury that they were citizens. Isn't that the kind of statistic that should make every state require proof? Hardly. Read about it here, and I'll talk to you tonight at 9 (CT).
WEDNESDAY MAY 14, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) According to the Trilateral Commission which met in Washington DC last month, America isn't pay her fair share. Wait until you hear what they want the US to do about it.. though I suspect you can guess. We also should spend more to combat global warming because we create more of it than anyone else. Clearly none of these folks have been to China. Read the recap here. We'll talk about it tonight along with of the global agenda (including the Athens Bilderberg meeting), what's in store for us, and which candidates are on board-- all of the majors of course.
TUESDAY MAY 13, 2008 5:30 AM (CT) Election results tonight, though it's a moot point at this point. Interesting Freudian slip from the Hildebeast-- she referred to the next president as "He".. does she recognize reality? More likely it's gender confusion, but either way read about it here. Meanwhile in Republican land, speculation about possible VPs continues with Condoleeza the front runner according to the Palestinians. What do they know? Find out here. And question whether there will even be an America for a president to lead when you ponder this latest outrage about a disabled student teacher in St. Cloud Minnesota who has been removed from the classroom-- because Muslim students threatened to kill his service dog. Seems dogs are unclean and petting them is forbidden under Islam. Wouldn't you think the solution would have been to remove the kids? Logic or lack of it tonight at 9 (CT).
MONDAY MAY 12, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) A father is in jail tonight in Kentucky. He'll be there for 6 months. It's because he contributed to the delinquency of a minor-- his daughter. Never mind that she's over 18. Let's look at her delinquency. She failed a math test. I know you think I'm making this up. And I also realize that if kids knew their parents could go to jail if they didn't pass a math test, some might make sure they flunked. You better read it here. And you'll see I'm not exaggerating. A judge ordered this man to jail. Doesn't it make you want to give the judge the math test? What you wanna bet he couldn't pass? The jury is out on that, but I'm pretty sure the bulk of Butler County (or any county) wouldn't do much better than this kid. Insanity tonight, as usual.
FRIDAY MAY 9, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) 3 hours of trivia tonight-- and a format that makes it easier to win (and hopefully more fun to hear). I'll let you be the judge in moments!
THURSDAY MAY 8, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) That the Hildebeast has an interesting relationship with the truth is proven repeatedly but this is big. In the past we've talked about how her Watergate boss refused to write a letter of recommendation for her due to her unethical behavior. Now we've got news about Whitewater. Just a witch hunt you think? Au contraire, my friend. At least not according to the papers Sam Dash willed the Library of Congress. Normally this grand jury stuff remains secret, but here's a glimpse into what those empanelled were thinking. Here's more. (And if you do a search you'll find a lot more-- all over the web.) If you don't want to read it, here's the bottom line-- they knew they had her on perjury if they wanted her. I probably don't have to explain why they didn't go for it, but we will talk about what they had to say in moments.
WEDNESDAY MAY 7, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) So you watched election coverage last night... did you start to wonder if North Carolina and Indiana had republican primaries? Did it occur to you that virtually no one mentioned it? Do you want to know how Ron Paul did? I'll be telling you in moments. We'll also talk about what it's gonna take for the Hildebeast to drop out now that the writing is blatantly on the wall that she won't win, and whether her reluctancy has a hint of conspiracy to it. Perhaps she's trying to weaken Obama so he'll lose to McCain, and she'll have another shot in 2012. Then again maybe she's just trying for more opportunities to enrich her campaign coffers which are decidedly in a deficit. Those are just some of the conversations I've heard. What you have to say, next!
TUESDAY MAY 6, 2008 12:15 AM (CT) You've probably heard that Wesley Snipes got he maximum sentence for the misdemeanors for which he was found guilty. The government tried to get him on criminal charges, but the jury didn't buy. Normally someone without a record guilty of a misdemeanor will get probation. So why the harsh sentence? The government is starting to realize that Americans are awakening to the farce of the IRS. I'm not suggesting you don't pay. I am suggesting you get educated and start to fight this insanity within legal parameters available to you. If enough of us do, this sham will ultimately end. Tom Cryer joins me tonight to talk about that. He's the Louisiana lawyer who successfully fought criminal charges of willfully failing to file taxes. He's not suggesting you try that either. The key is enough Americans armed with the truth about the system that it will be impossible to seat a jury on these issues. Only then will we start to see change. Find out what you don't know tonight at 9 CT. And check out Tom's TruthAttack.org.
MONDAY CINCO DE MAYO 2:00 AM (CT) You know the economy is tanking. That's no surprise. Every day another piece of bad news is added to a growing avalanche. But wait-- there's good news. There's a sector of the economy that's growing by leaps and bounds. A sector that is hiring at the fastest pace in years. Can you guess what it is? You want a product category? None whatsoever. You want a service definition? None to speak of. We're talking a hiring frenzy that will add not one real dollar to the economy. Who is paying for these positions? You are. The government has hired an additional 77,000 workers in the first 3 months of this year. Meanwhile private industry has lost 286,000 jobs. What's wrong with this picture? Everything. Read about it here.
Here for trivia answers? So are Friday's players.. I forgot to reveal the answers at the end of the show. Fortunately there were only two: In 1976, banks did this for the first time. Did what? Offered interest bearing checking accounts.
It's April 1958 and rumors of the end of this government program are unfounded. We'd be stuck with it for many years to come. What? The draft. (The army says the draft will be needed indefinitely. Currently (in 1958) 13,000 American men are drafted each year.)
And in the ever evolving way we play Friday night trivia, here's the current rules: We'll take 3 players simultaneously. The first player to get two right answers before two wrong ones will win. (And yes you can pick from a handful of categories of questions.) Players can pass on any one question without penalty, but it will then go to the other 2 players, who will not be penalized for wrong answers but will be credited for right ones. (It's also possible to win by default by being the last player standing, but that shouldn't happen too often.) Every time someone wins, we'll start with a new panel of 3 players. If it sounds complicated, believe me you'll catch on quickly. I promise the questions will be a lot easier than you might expect. (Of course they're always easy when you know the answer.) You can also win instantly by answering a question I'll throw out each hour, or by identifying the bumper stumper currently in play. More on that this coming Friday.
FRIDAY MAY 2, 2008 4:00 AM (CT) Steve Bryant joins me tonight at 9 (CT). Check out his website: stevebryant.tv. You'll remember him from years and years son QVC but more recently he's known for his political parodies, the latest of which concerns the righteous Rev. Wright. It's always a lot of fun talking with him, and will follow that with a couple hours of trivia. Working on questions as I type.
THURSDAY MAY 1, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) We'll be talking in minutes, and as you can guess one of the things we'll be talking about is the "suicide" of the DC Madam. A flurry of emails asking if I believe it. Here's the deal. I do not believe under any extenuating circumstance that this woman would take her life without naming names. Big time. If it turns out that someone (or several someones) get something in the mail with instructions to out a lot of names we'll easily recognize, then maybe. If it turns out that the names of her clients are not soon publicized, then you can take it to the bank that this was murder. But even in that event, she would have been wise to have a posthumous plan in place. Does someone already have the info, and will they risk what may happen to tell us? God I hope so.
We'll also tell you what's going on in Canada in the latest government grab of supplements. You need to know about C-51, even if you never plan to visit the northland. If it happens out of Ottawa, how long before it happens in DC? At stake is your right to access to ALL supplements, the banning of many of them, and criminal charges should you give any to your kids. Doubt it? Click here. And here. And should you be in Calgary May 9th, please show up at the rally you'll read about. Thanks!
APRIL 2008
WEDNESDAY APRIL 30, 2008 3:31 AM (CT) It was great talking with Alex Jones last night. The show will replay on the stream until tonight's live one-- after that you can hear it as a download at www.mystreamingserver.com. We touched on the economy, and we agree--- you haven't seen nothing yet. We'll talk about what we are seeing though-- from an increase in credit card spending on basic necessities(making MasterCard rich and the rest of us poor) to a trend of people selling their belongings to pay basic bills. That's here. The government admits its a recession but is still denying there's much inflation. Ever wonder why? Read this. Bottom line, is they've found another way to screw the taxpayer-- in this case out of what they promised to hand out in social security payments, among many other things. Sinister details tonight at 9 (CT).
TUESDAY APRIL 29, 2008 8:51 PM (CT) Alex Jones in minutes! 3 big hours-- if you haven't seen Endgame yet, you're behind the curve. We'll talk about it, but there's nothing like seeing it first hand. Think Hitler was the first at eugenics? Wait until you hear about how he learned it from the US. Find out what we did, and more importantly what we're going to do. Any conspiracy theory you've ever heard, is something of which Alex is knowledgeable. If you don't listen to his daily show, you should. But check him out with me 9 to Midnight (CT). And check out his websites infowars.com prisonplanet.com, prisonplanet.tv and several others you'll hear about in the next three hours.
MONDAY APRIL 28, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) If you knew of a situation where a group of children were sick, dying, being raped, poisoned, drugged and abused not to mention numerous underage pregnancies you'd have to act, right? I'm not talking FLDS here. This is the state foster care system in Texas that the 400+ FLDS kids were forced into by authorities. Read this and tell me if you don't think they just went from bad to a lot worse. Talk to you in minutes!
SUNDAY APRIL 27, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) Here are the answers to Friday's trivia: In 1976, a former prime minister of Italy faced accusations, a former prime minister of Japan was arrested and Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands had to resign from some posts, all over the same issue. What issue? Taking bribes from Lockheed for airplane orders-- over $25 million worth.
This was one of the hottest consumer items of 1972. What? pocket calculators.
In 1972, critics blamed fashion designers for this. They used the Democratic National Convention in Miami Beach as an example of the problem. Blaming them for what? Failing to provide direction! (Women showed up to the convention in everything-- floor length dresses, tailored short separates, blue jeans. It was the year of wide choices.)
More people in Hawaii do this than any other state, over 60%. Do what? Hawaii has the highest percentage of cremations of all other US states with a a 60.6% preference over burial.
In 1972, the FTC issued its first action from its year old advertising documentation program requiring advertisers to document claims. GM was the first company targeted over 2 false claims. Name one: GM falsely claimed the Vega is the best handling passenger car ever built. Gm also claimed that the Buick Opel has a chassis that never requires lubrication.
Until the mid 1900s, we did not know the reason for this daily phenomenon. What? Why the sun shines. (As recently as half a century ago, there was no clear understanding of it. The discovery that it is due to nuclear fusion reactions was not made until the 1930s by Hans Beth and Carl von Weizsacker.
Wondering about the bumper stumpers? Click on "Who Did That Record" to your left.
THURSDAY APRIL 24, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) Apologies for the phone system (our fault-- long story), but other than that it was good to talk with Dennis Flaherty. His website is under yesterday's post but you might also want to check out an upcoming astrological convention. Click here for info on UAC2008.
Tonight among other things we'll talk about the absolute absurdity of our War on Drugs. Who better to speak out than law enforcement officials who know what a cruel joke it is, let alone why it's completely ineffective and unnecessary. If If you want a way to control the populous, circumvent the constitution and make a ton of money on the back of the public, you've found it with in the drug war. LEAP founder Peter Christ joins me tonight at 9 CT. Here's info on him. And here's the LEAP homepage. The real question is how long is the public going to continue to buy into this destructive insanity? Until Americans wake up, they'll continue to part with their rights and assets.
WEDNESDAY APRIL 23, 2008 4:45 AM (CT) Bush is trying to sell us on more involvement with Mexico. The fourth annual Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) meeting is going over like a lead balloon for many Americans. So does he decide to rethink his plans? No.. the SPP decides to rename itself. But you won't like it any better as the North American Leaders Summit (read about it here). Figures they'd rename it, since a few weeks ago we discussed their renaming of the NAU. Yes we're catching on to that one too. It's to be called the North American Standards and Regulatory Area, and you won't like it either. (Here's that one.) So what is Bush saying at the SPP which is no longer the SPP? Read about that here.
Meanwhile bad enough the Hildebeast won Philadelphia, but now the rumor is that neither she nor Obama will get the nomination in favor of a final pick of Al Gore. (Read about how it can happen here.) I'm hoping it's a rumor designed to make us feel lucky about anyone but Gore. It's enough to make you consult an astrologer.. which is exactly what we'll do tonight. Who will win the election? Will there be elections? What about the economy? The environment? The NAU? Can't promise answers, but vedic astrologer Dennis Flaherty has a grasp on the strong possibilities and I'm looking forward to hearing that! We'll talk to him at 9 CT. Check out his site here. Meanwhile if you missed the interview with Joe Buchman Monday night and want to hear it, it's here.
TUESDAY APRIL 22, 2008 5:00 AM (CT) We're celebrating Earth Day... by debunking Al Gore. One of the few hopeful trends lately has been a plethora of authors coming up with the real story behind Global Warming which has little to do with climate and everything to do with control-- and money. Your money, in the form of taxes to correct a bogus problem. Tonight we'll talk to Paul Spite. He's written "A Climate Crisis A La Gore" (click on it for a good price on a good read. We'll also talk about the Pennsylvania primary. Fitting for earth day-- from one potential disaster to the next starting tonight at 9 CT.
MONDAY APRIL 21, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) Global warming? Still snowing in the Canadian rockies. At least it's no longer sticking to the roads.. While I was watching snow this weekend, my buddy Dr. Joe Buchman was checking out a UFO convention. He'll join me tonight to tell you about it. According to Joe, it's not whether aliens are here (other than the Mexican kind, of course) but how many different types. He's got a website apologizing to them all.
Check out www.ThePeopleOfEarthApologize.com (click on it) for more on that. But in the meantime, he's not giving up events closer to home. In fact he's running for Congress. Now combining UFOs and Congress you'd pretty much think he's running as a Libertarian and you'd be right. Check out BuchmanForCongress.com (click on it too). On top of all that, he lives in Utah, so he's got a interesting perspective on the FLDS goings on. Like the rest of us who are actually alert, the real question is... when the government rounds up 416 kids, where's the outrage? All that and more tonight at 9 CT..
SATURDAY APRIL 19, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) April 19th.. The anniversary of Waco.. looking at the FLDS mess, we apparently haven't learned much, have we? I'll be back on that, Monday night.. but for now, here's what you may have missed on trivia:
In 1972, this was seen by some as the major innovation in radio. Stations in Baltimore, Houston and New Orleans wee among the first to offer it. Offer what? Broadcasting in Quadrophonic, four channel sound.
Musically 1972 was the year of blank. Fill in the blank. Nostalgia (Bobby Darin made a comeback, Madison Square Garden had a big oldies show. Chuck Berry had his first hit in years, even Broadway musicals evoked memories from earlier decades.)
1971 started a new movie trend. In 1972, there were over 20 such pictures. Most were traditional Hollywood fare, though often considered B movies. Some were seen as objectionable by traditional movie patrons and even critics. One, a big box office draw, drew some of the biggest criticisms. What's the movie trend? Movies starring, written by, directed by and marketed to a black audience. (The movie that sparked the greatest wrath of critics was "Superfly" though the complaint was not about race. The outrage was the sympathetic treatment of a cocaine dealer.)
In 1972, the FTC issued its first action from its year old advertising documentation program which required advertisers to document claims. What company did they first target? General Motors.
The practice of naming hurricanes began early this century when an Australian weather forecaster decided to insult who? Politicians he didn't like.
In the latter 1800's an American department store was the first ever to do this. Do what? Install electric lighting. (In 1878, Wanamaker's of PHiladelphia was the first.)
FRIDAY APRIL 18, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) Friday night trivia in moments-- and back here afterwards with the answers.
THURSDAY APRIL 17, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) This is only a test. And when it becomes a real emergency, we'll realize American citizens failed-- big time. Talking about the FLDS raid in Texas-- and how willing most people are to go along with the government yanking 416 kids out of mother's arms and putting them in a shelter-- all on the flimsiest of accusations.
The alleged 16 year old mother who called in to complain is a suspicious as it gets. She's not been found, the man she named as father of her child doesn't know anything about her. She made phone calls to a shelter miles away. And talked in one case for about an hour. If she was really so controlled, how was she aware of this shelter? How was she able to make hour long phone calls complaining about it? At the very least you'd expect the government would continue to verify her accusations before acting on them. It doesn't even pass the "It's For The Children!" battle cry. There's no proof any were in imminent danger. The ranch they call home is as clean and orderly as it gets.
Does anyone who knows anything about foster care have any reason to believe their safety will be guaranteed if they're farmed out into the system? Is anyone concerned that the government is taking the DNA of all of these children and their parents-- allegedly to match them up, but have you heard anything about destroying that DNA once the investigation is completed? I could go on. I wouldn't personally want to live that lifestyle. Polygamy and strict adherence to a restrictive religious doctrine doesn't sound like a good time to me. But I am absolutely horrified-- and worried-- that the majority of Americans seem to think the government rounding up 416 kids is fine by them. Why is anyone sleeping comfortably thinking their family won't be next? This is a test. And Americans have failed. Yes I can go on, and I will tonight at 9 CT.
WEDNESDAY APRIL 16, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) When all else fails rename it. That's the Orwellian doctrine that works every time. And never has it worked better when calling a major loss of sovereignty nothing more than a 'trade agreement'. It's tried and true and we fall for it every time, so it should come as no surprise that with all the citizen outrage now that plans for the coming North American Union united the US, Canada and Mexico, the latest plan is to call it a trade agreement-- NASRA to be exact: The North American Standards and Regulatory Area. No one will complain about that, right? They will if I have something to say about it. Jerry Corsi will tell you all about it here. Talk to you tonight at 9 CT.
TUESDAY APRIL 15, 2008 3:45 AM (CT) I'd love to say... So here we are April 15th, a national holiday commemorating all the loss and heartache from the former income tax laws... but alas, the pain and heartache will be standing in line today at the post office putting those 1040s in the mail. We'll talk about that and more tonight at 9 CT.
MONDAY APRIL 14, 2008 4:02 AM (CT) The Republicans are coming to St. Paul in September. Big convention, Perhaps you've heard about it. Probably unnecessary since McCain will be the nominee but nothing can stop a good party. Think I'm painting it a bit cavalierly? Then take a look at the city council fight-- over granting attendees their wish-- keeping the bars open til 4 a.m. Maybe they're planning an intoxication defense for the aforementioned nomination. It's story #4 here.
Seems all government employees like to have a good time. Read about the $13,500 steak dinner here. Any good political news you ask? Well Carter and Gore might lean on Hillary to give it up. Not that she'll listen, but all the superdelegates might. That's here. Lots more and I'll tell you about it tonight at 9 CT.
SATURDAY APRIL 12, 2008 2:00 AM (CT) Missed any of trivia? Here's the answers from last night's questions:
In 1910, the first woman in the world to do this was a Frenchwoman. Do what? Become the first certified woman pilot. (It was Madame la Baronne de Laroche who was certified as an aviatrix on March 3, 1910.)
In 1974, in one West Virginia county there were fire-bombings, beatings, shootings and dynamiting over this issue. What issue? Books included in the school curriculum the community found objectionable. (Their inclusion was mandated by the superintendent of schools who followed a strict edict the state courts handed down that books must be multi-ethnic. Among the books criticized was 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.)
These trees were first cultivated in China, then they made their way to India, Armenia and Persia. Before the 13th century, they arrived in England via Italy. What trees? Apricot.
This common edible was sold in the United States as a patent medicine in the early 19th century as a Doctors Compound Extract. What is it? Ketchup! (Dr Miles' Compound Extract of Tomato)
What do Stephen J. Cannell, Robert Conrad, k.d. lang, Gregory Peck, Sidney Poitier, Desi Arnaz and Elvis Presley have in common? They were all truck drivers before they became famous.
In San Salvador, this crime is punishable by death before a firing squad. That probably includes a lot of things but this one would raise eyebrows in America. What crime? Drunk driving.
Until the 1972, this was a very unusual girl's name. It's said William Shakespeare made it up. What name? Jessica. (Shakespeare called Shylock's lovely daughter JEssica in the Merchant of Venice,e but it was not until the 1970s that large numbers of people began choosing this name for their daughters.)
1972 American compact cars did battle with the foreign makers, notably VW, Toyota and Datsun. What three models were targeting their foreign counterparts? Chevy Vega, Ford Pinto, and AMC Gremlin. I'll be back to type more before Monday's show. Have a good weekend!
FRIDAY APRIL 11, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) Trivia tonight. Three hours starting at 9 CT. Talk to you then.
THURSDAY APRIL 10, 2008 12:30 AM (CT) You've heard about all those planes (over 1,000) grounded because they weren't inspected in a timely manner? Did you know that several of them have been failing the subsequent checks? Read it here. Deductive logic will tell you the major carriers have been flying planes that are not airworthy. And you wonder why I drive? Even to Alaska.
Here's a story about a realtor in Memphis which will no longer sell homes to illegals. This of course raises the rhetorical question 'Why was it legal to do that anyway?' Rhetorical, because it's not illegal or even frowned upon. The change of heart comes from a change of loan conditions. Banks are no longer ready to lend to folks without social security numbers. And you'd of course ask 'You mean they were doing that before? Then why do I need to be inspected with in an inch of my life to give them my money when I open an account?' And those too would be good questions in a sane world.
But in America, it's been no problem until now. Not a move toward patriotism, rather economic reality-- the illegals are less likely to pay back the loan. (It can be argued if they'd enter the country illegally, why would they feel compelled to keep an economic bargain here, but the real issue above that is keeping a steady job can be tough when you're not supposed to have one.) So what is this realtor doing? This is the best part-- they'll concentrate on people legally here... with bad credit. Easier to get them loans than illegals these days. It does beg the question, why not go after responsible, credit worthy buyers, but I'll let you ask it tonight at 9 CT. Talk to you then.
WEDNESDAY APRIL 9, 2008 9:00 PM (CT) We'll talk to Charles Lewis in a few minutes. In the meantime you should check out SaveAmericaSummit (click on it). When the lesser of two (or three) evils is still evil, as it is in this election, you start to wonder what's going on. You're about to find out.
WEDNESDAY APRIL 9, 2008 12:45 AM (CT) Greenspan tells you what you already knew-- the country is in a recession, but you already knew that. Here it is complete with him not being sorry for anything he might have done. The Fed is hinting it might be a deep recession. No big surprise to you here. And the IMF is calculating it could be a trillion dollar crisis. That's here. And how long have I been telling you that our phony debt-fueled economy would collapse? The longer it takes, the worse it will be. We'll talk about that, and all the things we didn't get to last night.
Sometimes corporate America is as bad as government bureaucrats. Apparently guards at Target can not confront shoplifters. This leads to the question, 'What can they do?' Can't answer that but I can tell you about a retired cop who had the 'nerve' to stop a teen from stealing hard liquor and was fired for his trouble. That insanity is here. Finally from the 'Assault with a Weapon' file, here's a story where the weapon was a hedgehog. Since the don't know if the animal died in the process or was previously deceased, the villain won't be hit with animal cruelty. Talk to you at 9 CT.
TUESDAY APRIL 8, 2008 12:30 PM (CT) We were in the middle of talking about the USB drive chock full of DMV records in Oregon that wound up in a recycling center, unencrypted and easy to read. We'll pick up with that story, but note, this is not an inadvertent loss-- read here about a loony law, now gone, but still reverberating with problems. Read about it here.
We'll also go over the Pig Book. Yes, CAGW releases it's annual awards for the most wasteful pork barrel spending. Here's a summary of this year's winners. Here are the representatives who won the anything-but-coveted Oinkers. Many fine categories such as the French Kiss Off, Tax Dollars on Drugs and the Unidentified Fiscal Object. Finally if you want to know how it goes by state, click here. That'll keep you busy for a while. Talk to you tonight at 11 CT (I settled on CT as it's easier than writing ET & PT and probably easiest for you to translate too.)
MONDAY APRIL 7, 2008 7:00PM (PT) Before we get to all the dirt described below (and a lot more), I'm going to spend some time talking to Jock Brocas, a British military man who has learned the benefit of relying on inner knowledge for real protection. His book is "Powers Of the Sixth Sense" and it's available here.
MONDAY APRIL 7, 2008 3:31 AM (PT) Think Hillary's lies are a recent development? Of course you don't. But if you're looking for proof going back as far as her days on the Watergate committee in the '70s, have I got a story for you. You can read about it here, but we'll talk about it tonight.
And the lies just keep on coming! Punctuating her desire to give you government health care whether you want it or not, is a story about a young mother who died because she was uninsured and turned away at the hospital. Her family is outraged. She had full insurance and they're upset she's being portrayed as an indigent. Here's that one.
Meanwhile in Oregon, she's misrepresenting her record on Iraq laughably. That's here. Of course, it doesn't help that her income tax returns show she's made well over $100 million since her white house days-- so much for relating to the po' folks. Read that one here.
And then there's that issue with her chief strategist who has had to resign now that it turns out while he was talkin' up the Hildebeast who among her campaign themes is her promise to reign in trade programs like NAFTA, he was also lobbying congress on behalf of the Colombian government which wants in on an expansion of such deals. That's all over the web, won't even bother with links.
Meanwhile Ron Paul supporters shook 'em up in Minnesota this past weekend. Turns out members of the nominating committees in the various districts were not allowed to nominate anyone but McCain. Here's some info on what happened when a few didn't go along with that. All that and other things tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
But wait, there's more. Hopefully it will make you laugh. If not, you're gonna cry. Listener Steve called it to my attention. I don't give you video links often, as I rarely have time to view them myself, but this one is worth it-- funny-- or disturbing? You be the judge. Here it is.
And finally, for those of you asking me to put the Landline article up, here it is. But if you're a commercial driver, you should have your own copy because you're a member of OOIDA.. right? Wrong? Then click on the OOIDA link to your left and join. Mention my name and your first year dues are just $25.
SATURDAY APRIL 5, 2008 1:05 AM (PT) You slaughtered me last night on trivia. Lots of prizes to mail out this weekend. But you probably want to know the answers, so here you go:
In 1996, a US panel designated this well known street as a scenic byway. What street? The Las Vegas Strip. (The committee felt the glitzy neon lights, erupting volcano, sinking pirate ship, pyramid, castle and other casino attractions are... culturally enriching. This explains a lot, doesn't it?)
In 1974, the number of these fell to their lowest level since the 1800s. What? The number of Member firms of the NYSE.
This occurred in American for the first time in 1874. What? The first kidnapping for ransom in US history. (Charlie Ross was lured into a wagon and carried away by men who demanded $20,000 for his return. The result was unprecedented international news coverage. It was not a happy ending.)
Henry Ford was obsessed with this. He once wore a suit and tie made from it and ordered auto parts made from it. What? Soybeans. (The clothes were made from soy-based material. He ordered many Ford parts to be made from soy-derived plastic. He once served a 16-course meal made entirely from soybeans.)
A large ice cream company gives their ice cream waste to local farmers who use it to feed hogs. The hogs seem to like all the flavors except one. Which one? Mint Oreo. (Ben & Jerry's donates to Vermont farmers who report hogs will eat most anything-- except Mint Oreo.)
We talked about the Charlie Gracie documentary too-- and if you want a copy, you can now easily download it for a couple bucks from the Amazon Unbox Download Program. Click here. It's recordable on Tivo. If you'd rather have a hard copy mailed to you for not much more, click here.
If you're from Chicago, you probably know Eddie Schwartz. Even if you aren't from Chicago but enjoyed listening to WGN years ago, you should recall him. Eddie, a life long Chi-town fixture knows everyone and everything about the Windy City. In 1970 he was Robert W. Morgan's producer on WIND and went on to a great career since then. After WGN he was on WLUP before turning to writing for the last decade or so. He's a great guy and if he's given you joy on the air in the past, it's time to give some back to him. He's currently in a rehab facility and would love to hear from you. Read about it here. And remember, I'm too often writing about the passing of someone and lamenting it's too late to let them know we care. In this case, it's the perfect time to drop a line to "Chicago Schwartz!" letting him know you remember and care. Thanks! Talk to you Monday.
FRIDAY APRIL 4, 2008 12:01 AM (PT) Trivia tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
THURSDAY APRIL 3, 2008 1:10 AM (PT) Ted Turner predicts mass cannibalism by 2040-- and he's not just referring to his own heirs. Want a laugh? Read this. Then again, he's serious as a heart attack and people will believe his clap trap about global warming. Even worse, here I am delighted about the Hildebeast looking good in Pennsylvania and Obama tells a town hall meeting in Wallingford that if he's elected he guarantees Al Gore will have a big role. Let's hope there's no a cabinet position for wacky weatherman. Jokes aside, Gore whose theories are more and more failing the tests of serious scientists got a nobel prize and a grammy for his claptrap. Here's the Obama article. Not sure Gore's garbage is claptrap? Read Lawrence Solomon's "The Deniers" for openers. It's here. We'll try to have him on soon. Finally, want info about the MATS show and all things trucking? Check out screamintrucker.com.
WEDNESDAY APRIL 2, 2008 3:00 PM (PT) How to increase traffic accidents and city revenue in one easy step-- install a red light camera. Guaranteed to cause both. Jim Baxter from the National Motorists Association joins me at 10 ET / 7 PT to give you all the stats. In the meantime, check out NMA's website here. Lots of good info.
We'll also discuss a Pennsylvania poll that shows Obama winning and the tide further turning against the Hildebeast. (That's here.) And along those lines, Bill Clinton loses it again. Read it here and wonder-- is he really losing his grip or is it a passive aggressive plan to defeat his wife? If so, congratulations to Bill -- it's working!
And then there's Bob Barr-- looks like he'll declare himself a candidate for president under the Libertarian banner. That's great news from the standpoint of someone who is a credible politician but quite perplexing considering he's been one of America's foremost supporters of the War on Drugs. Of course he says he's changed, but given his vociferous support in the past, can you believe him. Here's what he told Reason magazine about that. And while we're at it, here's many articles on Bob in Reason. That'll keep you busy for the next four hours. Talk to you then!
TUESDAY APRIL 1, 2008 7:00 PM (PT) Talking to you in minutes, but before I do, I thought you might want to read a terrific article on Jack Armstrong. It's here. Sure wish he was.
So the question is, strike or no strike? Actually that's a complete misnomer. When independent business people stop working and shut down, it's not a strike, but it is a real indicator that something is very wrong. In this case, it's rising fuel costs for commercial drivers who are owner operators. As to the shut down, we'll hear from you about its effectiveness.
Think truckers' issues don't affect the rest of us? Then consider that everything you own, everything material in your life, came on a truck. If this ultimately results in an insurmountable problem for drivers, do you really want to think of life with the government taking over transportation? Or as bad, do you want to think of sharing the roads with drivers from third world countries behind the wheels of big rigs? That's terror to me.
We'll also give you some truly terrible but perhaps not surprising statistics. Overall 1 out of 2 public school kids graduates. In the larger districts, it's much worse. Detroit? 3 out of 4 drop out. If that's not an indictment against public schools, I'm not sure what will do it for you. Read about it here.
MARCH 2008
MONDAY MARCH 31, 2008 3:00 PM (PT) I forgot to mention what I thought to be the jaw dropping news over the weekend-- Henry Paulson announcing plans for the treasury deparment to take over everything financial. OK, that's a stretch but not as much of a stretch as I'm comfortable hearing. Read about it here. And here.
MONDAY MARCH 31, 2008 12:45 AM (PT) Promoting NAFTA at a trucking show? Sounds like an oxymoron to me, but here's the story. You might also want to check out how China's invovled in American trucking here. And if you're not sure if you're a republican or a democrat (or like me aren't sure if there's a difference), Johnnie B. Garmon has written 'You're Not A Democrat You Just Think You Are." Get a copy here. He'll share some his quizzes so you can check for sure tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
FRIDAY MARCH 28, 2008 11:59 PM (PT) You're probably here for trivia answers and I've got 'em!
What company has used more old rock tunes in their TV campaigns than any other advertiser in America? Burger King wins that dubious award. (But they're not alone. Hit tunes from top 40s heyday are being overused all over the place. Bet you can name several.)
In 1974, there was both deepening business decline and galloping inflation. The term created for this twin economic threat was what? Slumpification (and thankfully it didn't last long. Sylvia Porter and other financial journalists liked it back then).
Bumper Stumpers? They're all here.
Sorry for being absent a few days-- still getting over Jack Armstrong's sudden passing. A memorial for him in North Carolina was held today. Maggie, his youngest, read the eulogy I sent. Wish I could have been there. Wish Jack could have been there. But then again on some level, I bet he was. Plenty going on politically and we'll have a lot to talk about next week. I'll report in right here before Monday's show. Have a good weekend.
TUESDAY MARCH 25, 2008 3:45 AM (PT) I hope you caught last night's show with GOA's Larry Pratt. While there's reason for hope on the Supreme Court decision regarding the DC gun ban, it's alarming to find that the lawyer fighting to uphold the 2nd Amendment might as well have been on the other side for some of his arguments. The hour we spent with Larry is here. Check it out. Plenty to talk about tonight-- including the Two Stooges-- Hillary and Obama. Can't script it better than this-- more racist preachers unearthed.. Hillary's explanation that she 'misspoke' when caught in blatant exaggeration (or as some contend, complete fabrication). Let's look at something real: Jack Armstrong's legendary career. The post below will give you some background and links to audio clips but here he is the night he introduced the Fab Four. (He's the one in the middle who isn't a Beatle.)

I would have shown you the photo that refutes Hillary's 'sniper fire' account, but Jack was much more fun. However if you want to see it anyway, click here. There's a fine story to go with it too.
When someone close to you dies, it starts you to thinkin' 'bout life. And in Jack's case the last few years were empty for him at best which is truly tragic considering the outpouring of respect he's getting all over the internet since the news of his passing. But since '03, he's been sensibly conserving his resources as much as possible, including idling his true passion, his airplane, due to the cost factor. How he loved to fly. But what if he knew it would all be over in a short period of time? What would he have done differently? If you knew you only had 2 years to live, assuming you weren't debilitated by disease, what would you change? Worth considering and we will tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. To quote one of the individuals in the above picture, "Life is what you do while you're making other plans." What do you regret more-- things you've done, or things you didn't get around to doing?
SUNDAY MARCH 23, 2008 7:00 PM (PT) Very sorry to have to tell you that Big Jack Armstrong has passed away. His youngest daughter Maggie called me this afternoon with the news and I'm heartsick. He died at home in Greensboro on Saturday. At this point I have no other details as to what precipitated a fall down the stairs in his townhome.
Jack had the kind of energy that if harnessed could easily have kept a power grid online. When he was entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the "worlds fastest talking human" while he was on WKBW, nobody challenged the notion. Jack's ability to work the mic and use his voice as a tool was second to none. After working for Jack Gale at WAYS in Charlotte, he developed his now infamous "Gorilla" and his ability to slip in and out of character while prattling on at a motormouth pace was stunning.
His signature 'Jack Armstrong, Your LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE - DER' was the subject of legends. Could he really hold the word "Leader" through the entire record? (No but it sounded like it sometimes.) His career was made of alternately being in the right place at the best time, and the wrong place at he worst time.
Like most jocks, he started as a kid-- at 14 was hired to be on the air at WCHL in his hometown of Chapel Hill . Before graduating high school he'd work at Durham's top 40 outlet, WSSB where "Charlie Brown (Eddie Weiss, well known Beach Music personality, program director (WKIX) and morning man) befriended him. His summers at the family cottage in Edenton included being hired at WCDJ there.
After high school graduation, he picked up his first class FCC license (at the Elkins radio quickie course in Atlanta, where he worked for a month or so at WSMA/WDJK in nearby Smyrna) knowing that the FCC regulations back then would give him a leg up on the competition as directional AM stations required operators be so licensed. Sure enough that opened the door for him at Greensboro's WCOG, much to the dismay of his parents who had sent him off to college at Guilford. (He enrolled in pre-med as expected, considering his father was a world famous parasitologist then in residence at UNC.)
As radio quickly and forever won his heart, he had to break it to his folks that he was dropping out before even getting started. His dad admonished him 'There are only 2 ways to succeed son-- education or talent. You better hope to hell you've got talent.' How much of it he had at that point was questionable but wouldn't be for long. He quickly moved to WAYS in Charlotte toward the end of 1964, soaking in Jack Gale's secrets and all the while scanning the night time dial for distant stations for which he dreamed of one day working. WKYC, WLS, WKBW, WBZ, WABC all helped mold the jock he'd soon become.
In '66, he went from WAYS to WIXY in Cleveland which led to WKYC a year later where he really made his mark. Between jocking on the AM station and hosting WKYC-TV's "Big Jack Show", anywhere something was happening in Cleveland, Jack was there-- including introducing the Beatles and learning a lesson in crowd control in the process, as well as picking up several life lessons from roommate Chuck Riley (at the time WKYC's Chuck Dann).
From there it was off to WMEX in Boston, and CHUM in Toronto in 1968, WPOP in Hartford in '69, KTLK in Denver a year later and finally WKBW where his career took on legendary proportions from 1970 to '73. To this day, numerous would be radio folks up and down the eastern seaboard back then cite Jack's work on 'KB as exemplary of the pinnacle they hoped to achieve. Moving on to Pittsburgh's 13Q in '73 and then Don Burden's WIFE in Indianapolis in 1975, Jack made it to LA on 10Q in 1978.
When Storer sold the station in 1980, Jack segued to KFI before leaving the Southland in 1982 to return to North Carolina for a few months to help his folks remodel their home. That also gave him time to help his wife through a pregnancy with their third daughter, Maggie. (Maggie was born in her mother's home town, Buffalo. Jack is also father to Vanessa, born in Pittsburgh and Devon born in Indianapolis.) Jack returned to California by 1983, first to San Francisco's KFRC before returning to Los Angeles in '84 at CBS' KKHR.
From there it was Fresno (KBOS) in '87 and a final move home to North Carolina in '91 where he cared for his dad until his passing in '96. In '97, he took a job at Oldies 93, WMQX marking a full circle return to Greensboro and his longest tenure on any station-- 6 years doing morning drive. In 2003, he left the station but continued another encore replay-- tracking the night show on WKBW, maintaining the same level of energy he exhibited there over three decades earlier. A format change to progressive talk forever stilled his voice in 2006.
Like many radio greats, Jack was dismayed with the current state of radio, yet fully believing a place for him in it still existed. Sadly, time ran out before that was able to happen. I thought you might enjoy a few audio things. Click here for the interview I did with him on the show in 2005. Some great stories! Click here for the first show he did on WPOP in '69, and here for the last show he did on WPOP in 1970. Marvel at the energy. Radio is frenetic for anyone, and Jack lived at a frenzied pace. My prayer is he's now enjoying the peace that so eluded him here. What a good guy. And what a great loss to those of us lucky enough to be his friend. I'll have some pictures and links up soon.
FRIDAY MARCH 21, 2008 11:45 PM (PT) Trivia answers from tonight's show:
This well known item, in most every home was first seen in New Haven, Connecticut in the latter 1800s. What? Telephone books. (The first telephone book ever issued contained only 50 names. It was published in New Haven by the New Haven District Telephone Company in February, 1878.)
In 1985 it was announced that this was the #1 public health problem in America. What? Injuries. (The National Research Council announce the results of its study in May 1985, that injuries caused the loss of more working years than heart disease and cancer combined. Injuries cost the economy $75 to $100 billion annually. They suggested mandatory laws to change human behavior, like seat belts, be stepped up. Lovely.)
In 1987, this was seen by the manufacturer as a breakthrough advancement, but to the parents of the kids targeted as consumers, it encouraged violence in children. What is it? Mattel's Captain Power toys (to be used interactively with the Captain Power and the Soldiers Of The Future Television show).
In 1987, overall fewer Americans were doing this. Almost 6% less in Indianapolis, 5 1/2% less in Detroit, Over 4% less in Minneapolis, over 3% less in Baltimore. But Americans were doing it more by over 2% in Houston, Boston and Philadelphia. Doing what? Using mass transit.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend. I'll be back before Monday to tell you what's on tap for next week.
FRIDAY MARCH 21, 2008 2:30 AM (PT) Three big hours of trivia tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. In the meantime if you missed John Coleman and want to hear the hour we did with him, it's up at mystreamingserver.com. Check it out.
THURSDAY MARCH 20, 2008 12:45 AM (PT) If you're like me, you've been waiting for someone to truly reveal Al Gore for the idiot he is. And that's being kind. If he's not a dullard, then he's an absolute louse and fraud. Not only the perpetrator of a scientific fraud, but more tellingly the perpetrator of a financial fraud. The problem, you see, is the global warming over which he whips us all into a frenzy is at best, bad science. And the concept he proffers, that all scientists agree this is a major threatening issue to the world, is as phony as his premise. So what be done about it when it seems like media is stacked against logic, science and truth? A lot, if you're John Coleman, a noted television meteorologist. For starters, you sue Gore-- and that's just what he's done. God love him. Find out about the suit, the truth and what it's like to be John Coleman-- the guy who founded the weather channel, which was quickly taken from him. Today it's being shopped for a billion bucks, but that's probably not as objectionable to John as turning it on and seeing Heidi Cullen and her environmental insanity. Join us tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Want to read about John? Here's some info on him. And here's some more links on global warming. This will be good.
WEDNESDAY MARCH 19, 2008 10:00 PM (PT) I just finished a great murder mystery. Del Staecker wrote it while listening to the show, which was enough to get me to read it, though I have to admit, I usually don't make it through fiction. I tend to read the first two chapters and then skip to the back to see how it turns out. And I wasn't expecting it to be much different with a first time author. But boy was I wrong. I read it from cover to cover, almost non stop over the past week. Granted, the fact that it was set in Nashville (one of the best places I ever lived, though my experience is over 3 decades old), hooked me quickly. But it wouldn't have lasted if it wasn't so good. If you're looking for a great read, or just want to support a new author (though his next two books are already in the works so I suspect we'll be seeing a lot from Del), click here for a great price from Amazon.
WEDNESDAY MARCH 19, 2008 1:45 AM (PT) Sovereignty? We don't need no stinkin' sovereignty-- at least that's how it appears from today's news. The Treasury Department is working on ways to be fine with middle east consortiums buying up our banks. Mexico announces that our highways are included in NAFTA, and a Mexican consulate employee in San Diego, after cursing at the Minutemen informed him that ours was his country and Mexico would be taking it back. Can't believe any of that? Well here's the Middle East Investment issue. Here's the NAFTA claims. And here's the despicable Mexican consulate employee. We'll also tell you a feel good story about a major telco and voice mail-- which if you really think about it will trouble you greatly. All that tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
TUESDAY MARCH 18, 2008 2:45 AM (PT) The US government is planning to poison more than two million unsuspecting people this summer. Think I'm kidding? Here's a link. Talk to you tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
MONDAY MARCH 17, 2008 2:10 AM (PT) Happy St. Patty's day to ya. The luck of the Irish has not been with Obama recently. I for one thing the 'outing' of his pastor and his preaching of a 'gospel' that mainstream America might find disturbing-- particularly when taken out of context-- is the work of the HIldebeast campaign. She slyly backs away from commenting as any good saboteur would do, but sadly, Obama is taking the bait. By denying knowledge of the pastor's rhetoric, he's setting himself up to be proven a liar. Given the actual comments, if he were Ron Paul he'd proudly say that a lot of it was true, but as it is, he condemns the entire line of thinking, and me thinks he'll be caught. Interesting that Huckabee's sermons were entirely off limits, whatever they might have been. But it's fair game now? Some links to ponder: here, here and here.
But if you want really something ponderous, get this: The drivers in the Mexican truck pilot exam are proving their proficiency in English by taking a test in Spanish. You probably think you didn't read that right, so you better read this. We'll talk tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
We'll also discuss Elliot Spitzer. While most everyone is enjoying his bout with instant karma, most are ignoring the way he got there. And it should put fear and terror into all of us. The fact that the government is analyzing millions of financial transactions and banks are required to tip them off to any unusual pattern of deposits or withdrawals, every one of us is under a cloud of suspicion. We like it when it's Spitzer, but next it could be you-- even if you're not paying for hookers at any price. Ron Paul made some great comments about it on the floor of the House last week, and you can read them here.
FRIDAY MARCH 14, 2008 TRIVIA ANSWERS:
In the 1940s, inspired by walking his dog and examining detritus on the animal's coat, this inventor developed what well known product? Velro. (It the early 1940s, George de Mestral, a Swiss inventor, went on a walk with his dog Upon returning home, he noticed that the dog's coat was covered with burrs. Further, his pants also picked them up. Studying the burrs under a microscope, he discovered their shape resembled a hook. That was the basis for his fastener which had one side of hooks resembling the burrs, and the other with soft loops resembling his pants.)
In 1985, the rosy forecasts for this industry had to be revised. In fact the number 3 company reported layoffs and heavy losses due to the cost of business and a lower than expected market share. What industry? Long Distance (GTE, the #3 company had the layoffs, turned out the economic forecast for deregulated Long Distance was too optimistic.)
An American town became the first ever to do this in 1955. Do what? Power itself entirely by nuclear energy. (Arco Idaho, became the first town powered that way. Their 1000 residents received the benefits of an experimental boiling water reactor called Borax III.)
In 1987, the number of big computer mainframe manufacturing companies dwindled to three. One was IBM. Name the other two: Burroughs Corporation and Control Data Corporation.
FRIDAY MARCH 14, 2008 2:40 AM (PT) Three big hours of trivia tonight. Talk to you at 10 ET / 7 PT.
THURSDAY MARCH 13, 2008 12:01 AM (PT) GOOD NEWS. I actually archived three interviews you want to hear. Jerry Corsi from tonight, Larry Nichols from Monday and Mary Ann Winkowski from February. They're all available as .mp3 downloads at www.mystreamingserver.com --check 'em out!
Also, due to massive requests (OK, more than 5) I'm listing the bumper tunes and when possible giving you links to where you can get them. Click here.
It was great talking with Jerry earlier (see entry below for a link to his must read book) and we'll keep you posted on the DOT deciding an established journalist couldn't attend their press conference, but in the process we didn't get around to the promised prison industry story . We will tonight. We'll also tell you a story about Canadian health care you need to hear. If you'd rather read it, click here. No wonder she's dead. More on Elliot Spitzer no doubt, as well as the primaries and what's in store before the Pennsylvania vote on April 22nd. And then there's the plan to spray toxins all over San Francisco. Don't believe it? That's here from Alex Jones' Infowars.com. All that and more tonight at 10 ET / 7PT.
WEDNESDAY MARCH 12, 2008 7:55 PM (PT) Just concluded talking with Dr. Jerome Corsi. If you haven't read his book, The Late Great USA, you must! Click on it for a good price at Amazon. Not only will you get great info, but you'll also get proof of every contention in it. It's the single best argument stopper for your friends who say 'I don't believe that!' when you're telling them about the coming North American Union and all that surrounds it.
WEDNESDAY MARCH 12, 2008 12:15 AM (PT) Attention American businesses. No need to outsource to India for call centers. No need to go to China for cheap labor. We've got it here. How does 17 cents an hour sound? No benefits to pay, no vacations, a guaranteed work force that will never be absent or late. Sound to good to be true. It isn't. Sound like slave labor? It is. But it's legal. So legal that an Oregon representative was luring Nike back from Indonesia with it. And it's historical! Goes right back to the end of the civil war.
So what is this not so well kept secret among industry but unknown by the general public? Prison labor. It explains why more Americans per capita are in prison than anywhere else in the world. America accounts for 5% of the earth's population and 25% of its prisoners. It also explains why prison privatization is so hot. Everyone makes money-- from Wall Street investors to local police department. The only loser is you. Or your brother, uncle, cousin, son, daughter or co worker. It's even more of a risk if you happen to be young and black. Or hispanic. But not always. One thing is constant-- it's an anathema to everything America is supposed to be. And correcting it starts with you. Never heard about it? Read this and we'll talk about it tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
TUESDAY MARCH 11, 2008 1:40 AM (PT) When Larry Nichols called last week asking to be on the show with us Monday night because he had some breaking news.. how did he know about Spitzer? According to Larry he wasn't sure who it would be, but his sources told him one "Superdelegate" likely not to go for Hillary would be neutralized Monday.. Pretty amazing. But rather than pondering how he knew, let's look at how stuck on stupid Sptizer has been.
Let me get this straight.. a guy who has based his entire political career on being the great savior, cleaning up corruption and having a a government of integrity and morality, to paraphrase his various platitudes... a guy who made his name as AG by bringing high profile cases against financial giants.. that guy manages to engage in structuring to the point that it has investigators on his tail and when they nail him they discover he's a hooker hound? Is this too good to be true? Only for television which laments it not breaking in February during sweeps month.
Structuring is a term for obfuscating financial transactions. Often it's used to skirt the reporting requirements when cash is withdrawn. (A $10,000 reporting to the government is mandatory. Below that, it is not. So taking out 2 payments of $5,000 in order to avoid reporting is considered structuring.) or for creating a series of financial transactions designed to make the purpose of the money invisible. It's the kind of thing that based on Spitzer's reputation would have you believe he'd love to prosecute-- not the kind of thing in which he personally would engage. Well, you'd be wrong. And herein lies the best part of the story. The feds were after him-- not the prostitutes. They'd been on his trail for a while and as they tried to unravel his suspicious money transfers, they figured he was concealing bribes. They didn't realize it was broads. They do now. And so do we.
What this implies, is that such behavior is not unusual for Mr. Spitzer. And here's the big question? If you're Elliot Spitzer, a high profile defender of all things righteous who has amassed his share of enemies along the way, what on earth would lead you to believe you won't be caught? How do you not see the strong possibility of disgrace? Even if you think you're so good that you won't be discovered by any legal entity, how can you conceive that your political enemies, or those you've sent on a long vacation to the big house, won't stumble on your dalliances? Never mind how you justify it. I can only speculate what he's not getting at home. But when your eye is on the prize, and the route is a visible trek along the high road, how is it remotely possible you see yourself not tumbling down? That's what I'd like to understand. Not only because it's tabloid fodder, but especially because it's insight into the mind of someone who lusts for power over the rest of us and often gets it. In a sentence.. . 'What was he thinking?!' We'll talk about it again tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Here's a link to get you up to speed.
We're also trying to get Dr. Jerome Corsi to join us tonight. As you may know, The DOT has decided that WND, the fourth most read US journalism site online, is not welcome at their press conferences-- at least not the one yesterday wherein Mary Peters detailed all the reasons why she's planning to go ahead with the Mexican truck program that congress has defunded. Read about that here. Then there's CAIR. You know, the Islamic group that goes out of its way to silence its critics? Guess what argument they're using in court against a lawsuit brought by a talk show host? Freedom of speech. How very ironic. Details on that too.
MONDAY MARCH 10, 2008 12:01 AM (PT) In case you forgot last night, time to move your clocks forward an hour. Daylight savings time is earlier than it used to be. Judging by this year, Easter is earlier than it used to be too-- coming up on March 23rd, but it'll be back to April next year as usual. Plenty of things on my mind, as usual including a wonderful trend of college students demanding to be armed (read that here and here) a couple of alarming reports out of the Albany Police Department (here and here).
And if that doesn't shake you up, here's an unrelated horror-- the thought of Hillary Clinton as president. Larry Nichols, who as been dogging the Clintons since before they were first co-presidents in 1992, is more often right than wrong. He told us about Gennifer Flowers long before anyone else did-- and back then, I can vividly recall him saying the real issue was not Bill but Hillary. Since they we've seen the ole gal first hand-- who can forget the thousands and thousands of FBI files on her desk, let alone all the anecdotal stories about what happens to her enemies. Larry called last week and said he had more to share with the class. I don't know what it is, and only time will tell if he's right. But I for one want to hear it. If you're in my camp, join me tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT when Larry will be telling all.
SATURDAY MARCH 8, 2008 12:30 AM (PT) Looking for trivia answers from tonight's show? Click here to see what songs we played as Bumper Stumpers.
In 1949, an American carrier became the first regularly scheduled airline in the US to do this. Do what? Serve alcoholic beverages in flight. (On October 17, 1949, Northwest Airlines served the first hard drinks.)
This was outlawed for 12 years, from 1954 to 1966 in Finland. What? Marlon Brando's movie, "The Wild One".
In 1985, analysts said blank described the greatest reason for growth in the computer industry and maintained it would be the greatest reason for growth over the next 15 years. Fill in the blank (it's one word): Scalability. (Systems could be expanded in stages from small to extremely large without requiring changes in memory subsystems, software or peripherals. Scalability is possible because of the development of microprocessors (chips) with the computing power once available from only big mainframes and of individual memory chips with the capacity of entire memory systems.)
This was smuggled into Japan by tourists from Hong Kong and mainland China recently as a way to lose weight. The JPA had outlawed it but had seized over 10,000 of it alone in June and July of '99. What is it? Soap. (A Chinese soap known as Seaweed Defat Scented Soap claimed you'd lose weight by washing with it.)
A recent Gallup poll shows that 69% of Americans believe they will eventually do this. What? Go somewhere after death (though not necessarily heaven or hell).
I just noticed I never put last week's answers up and of course now I can't remember the questions. Sorry about that. I'll be back before Monday to tell you what's on my mind, and I'll be live Monday night to talk about it.
FRIDAY MARCH 7, 2008 12:01 AM (PT) Three big hours of trivia tonight and I promise to mail all the prizes since January this weekend. Got Larry Nichols on with me Monday night but I'll tell you about that before then. In the meantime, start dialing for trivia now. OK, kidding, but you know the deal-- easiest to get in the earlier you call. We're live at 10 PM ET / 7 PT. Talk to you then!
THURSDAY MARCH 6, 2008 3:31 AM (PT) A California Appellate court has ruled that parents who homeschool their kids are liable for fines and imprisonment. You probably think I mean if they're not actually teaching them. You'd be wrong. Homeschool advocates call the decision 'breathtaking' because of it's broad scope. But the good news is the California Supreme Court has agreed to hear the issue. Amazingly the appellate court overturned a lower court ruling that said parents have a constitutional right to educate their children. No they don't. Not in California-- the same state that's considering legislation that would encourage the teaching of communism. I can't make 'em up any better than this. Supreme Court cases are a roll of the dice. But it's a bet homeschooling parents in California are being forced to make. Read about the case here, and read about the commie curriculum here.
WEDNESDAY MARCH 5, 2008 2:00 AM (PT) How would you feel if you bought some stock in a company only to find out that the CEO was ignoring profits in order to more fully support his choice of a political candidate? Unless you thought you were investing in the outcome of an election you'd probably be furious, or at least confused. It's going to be interesting tomorrow when the Disney stockholders have their annual meeting in Albuquerque, because that's the scenario investors face. Many of them are in a confrontational mood over CEO Robert Iger, who happens to be a big Hillary Clinton supporter. What's that mean to investors? Seems a highly rated ABC/Disney mini-series critical of madame Clinton and her ilk and the official version of 9-11 is not available on DVD. And seems if it was, there'd be a lot of interest, since over 28 million people saw it on TV. Normally such ratings would cause the DVD to be available in months. So where is it? Let me back up and mention that before the miniseries aired on television, powerful democratic operatives did everything they could to stop it. But they lost. This time it appears they won. And investors are the losers as the company foregoes an obvious profit stream. We'll talk about fiduciary responsibility tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Here's details on a YouTube video.
TUESDAY MARCH 4, 2008 12:15 AM (CT) If your a parent of a young child, you know how important it is not to leave your kid alone with certain adults. You've probably got a list in your mind of who might be a predator. Well, time to add another category of possible suspects-- your pediatrician. Some doctors have been questioning kids without their parents present. They want to know what mom and dad are doing. We're not talking any rational definition of suspected child abuse here, we're talking, 'Does your mommy use drugs?' 'Does your daddy own a gun?' 'How do your mommy and daddy get along with each other?'
Where are they coming up with this stuff? Guidelines from the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) which classifies parents as "persons of interest" and encourages doctors to ask children questions in order to uncover their behavior. Doctors are encouraged to ignore things like legal barriers, parental involvement, or common sense as they shake down their young patients for all the inside info they can get. What do they do with it? One father in Massachusetts was reported to the police for his gun ownership-- legal gun ownership. That particular doctor followed up the invasive questions to the five year old with questions to her mother trying to get the goods on dad before filing the report-- which was totally unfounded as dad acted completely within the law. You've heard about the arrogance of physicians-- we'll talk about its far reaching implications when your child is involved tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Want to read about it? Click here.
MONDAY MARCH 3, 2008 7:55 PM (PT Talking with Tom Cryer now. If you want to be part of "Operation Stop Thief", telling the truth about income tax at post offices across the country on April 15th, email Tom here, for info.
MONDAY MARCH 3, 2008 12:01 AM (PT) If you think income tax is about money, think again. Money is the symptom, but the cause is control. Through income taxes you become a slave to the government. Tom Cryer, a lawyer and patriot is one of the few tax protesters who really knows his stuff, which is exactly why he beat the IRS criminal charges of willfully not paying the tax debt the government claims he owes. As you know, if you've heard me talking with Tom previously, that doesn't mean he's off the hook in terms of actually having to pay it, simply that a jury found he was not criminally liable for willfully not filing. (If that's clear as mud, we'll explain it again tonight when we get an update on his case.) But the real reason he's joining us is to tell you about an event planned for April 15th this year. That date sound familiar? It should. And fittingly the event is called "Operation Stop Thief". Truth attack is coordinating it, and the plan is for this to be the first of what will be an annual event" until the IRS admits it's lying and stops stealing" to quote Tom. Time
is tight, so tune in tonight and find out what you can do to further your liberty. As soon as I have links, I'll put them up.
FEBRUARY 2008
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 28, 2008 2:30 AM (PT) You think public schools haven't gone full tilt stupid? Never mind academics, they don't. Let's get on with indoctrination-- the real school mission. We'll tell you about a boy disciplined for writing with a pen his father gave him that happened to have a Glock logo on it. And another high school athlete suspended for weeks because he took a vitamin. By the way, neither of these acts violated the written rules.. didn't matter. Then there's the 8th grade girl thrown out of class for bringing in a picture of herself with a tommy gun, and a boy punished for drawing a picture of a weapon. More from the government your tax dollars support tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
I guess you want to do some reading. Fine. The Glock insanity is here. (It also contains the story of the Tommy gun girl.) The vitamin outrage is here. The kid The dangerous sketch of weapon is here. And you think there's not an agenda? Our greatest hope in fixing this would be to get Ron Paul elected. Speaking of Ron, here's Aimee Allen's campaign video (worth the watch). And here's why I love him. Ron and Ben Bernanke. You decide.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 27, 2008 2:30 PM (PT) So you're still convinced you want socialized medicine? I was going to save this story for another night, but it made my blood boil enough that it can't wait. You'll hear all the details, but the bottom line is the supreme court ruled that if a medical device kills you, you can't sue if it's approved by the FDA. Do you have any idea what the implications are of that? If not, we'll spell them out tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
Sandy Frazier called this to our attention. Want to do some pre-reading before the show? Check out the blog for Robert Weiss, an attorney who fights for your rights, often against government (and other) bureaucracies here. (His full website is here. Read his bio here.) Here's the Reuters story on the decision. If you're not outraged at even the thought of this decision, let me remind you, this is the same FDA that says aspartame is no problem but a simple herb with thousands of years of world wide use (stevia) isn't approved for use in soft drinks. The same FDA that allows hormone replacement therapy drugs with tons of side effects but is threatening compounding pharamcists from dispensing bio identical (not patentable of course)estriol. Don't get me started now. I'll start tonight. We'll have a long talk.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 27, 2008 2:00 AM (PT) The government is mandating you change your light bulbs. They're suggesting you use something that can poison you. Think I'm kidding? Congress is banning the sale of tried and true incandescent bulbs within a few years. But they're touting what they claim is a great replacement. Unfortunately, if you read the fine print from the EPA, there are a few problems, but your trust government wouldn't possibly suggest something poisonous, would it? Read the fine print about what happens when you break one of these newfangled CFL (fluorescent) bulbs. If it doesn't injure you, you might die from the shock of what it might cost for clean up. You'll especially like the part about cutting out the affected carpet. Once again, a solution in search of a problem. Read about it here. And that's just for openers. We'll fill you in on the rest of the story tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT, but in the meantime if you want a decent replacement for incandescent bulbs (shameless plug here) check out the LED lights from the CCrane Company.
Beach music fan? You'll want to check out JD Cash ("My Dancin' Shoes" "Strolling On The Boardwalk") on his new myspace page here. Shag anyone?
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 26, 2008 1:00 AM (PT) Nebraska wants to protect children... from their parents. They've analyzed lots of data and decided.. to completely ignore it. The Nebraska legislature is debating a bill today LB 1141, that would make it difficult and expensive to home school. It's got a lot of requirements and the convenient concept that the state will determine everything. And when they determine the child should not be home schooled, parents have no recourse but to put them in government approved halls of indoctrination. Details on tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Want to read the bill? It's here. Want to see the opinion of a parent who home schools. It's here. Want to see some of the HSLDA info. It's here.
MONDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2008 1:00 AM (PT) Valentine's Day is for lovers, and couples. And some of them meet secretly. Keeping it to themselves, they make agreements privately and carry on as if no one were the wiser. Well, it's one thing for people, and another for governments... but that was pretty much the scene on February 14th this year when the US and Canada signed a military agreement without telling you or congress. There was equal silence north of the border. We'll tell you what we know and why it matters tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here. (Another great article from Jerome Corsi.)
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22, 2008 10:30 PM (PT) Missed trivia? Missed the answer? Here's what we revealed:
Jerry Seinfeld quote: "Women's magazines always seem to me to be instructing blank on how to act like women." Fill in the blank. Aliens. (He went on to say, "It's as though people know nothing. What to wear at a picnic, what to eat when you get to the picnic.. On the other hand, there's very little advice in men's magazines, because men don't think there's a lot they don't know. Men think, 'I know what I"m doing, just show me somebody naked.'")
According to Beatles producer George Martin, George Harrison's inspiration for "Taxman" was what? Neal Hefti's "Batman" (The Emmy winning theme song from the 1960s TV show).
Americans spend more than $630 million a year on this. On what? Golf balls.
On the averagae day in America, more than 13,00 people did this in the 1990s. Less do it today. Do what? Visit the Grand Canyon. (Because of environmental concerns tourism is now being limited.)
In America in the 1800s, using this was considered to be an excellent way to clean hair. Using what? Rum. (Brandy was supposed to strenghten roots. It was in the 1829 book "The Frugal Housewife" written by Mrs. Lydia Childs.) I'll be back to type to you before Monday. Have a fine weekend.
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 22, 2008 12:01 AM (PT) Trivia tonight. 3 big hours. As for the few trivia shows, I'm making good on my promise to print the answers of the questions I've asked. At least the ones I can remember. In no particular order here we go:
In 1979, the first woman ever was elected to this position. What position? Head of a local steel union. (Alice Peurala was the first and only woman to do so. She was elected to head Local 65 of United Steelworkers in Chicago. At 58 years old, she died of Cancer in 1986.)
In 1984, the American Cancer Society said this was a major contributor to Cancer. What? Diet.
Nearly one in four people said they have more headaches during the Christmas season than any other time of the year? Of those surveyed, 75% said that not having enough time caused them to have headaches. 73% said crowds and traffic created their headaches. 51% said this did it. What? Skipping meals.
In 1995, a contractor sued the federal government and won. It scaled back an entire government program. What was the issue? Civil rights. The contractor submitted a lower bid than a Hispanic for a job installing guardrails on a highway, and he sued (and won) when the Hispanic got the job.
There's enough water collectively throughout the US from this source to cover the city of San Francisco with a layer of water about 7 feet deep. What sources? Water in swimming pools in America.
In 1987, a local TV station became the first major market television station in the US do this. Air a condom commercial (on San Francisco's KRON).
In Washington, there is a statue honoring the father of modern day blank. What? Air conditioning. (Dr. John Gorrie of Appalachicola, FL invented mechanical refrigeration in 1851. He patented his device on May 6, 1851. The statue is in the Statuary Hall of the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.)
This well known American item considered anti-Islamic and importing it to Iran is prohibited. However dozens of shops in Tehran in the late 1990s had them. The price was as much as $700 in a country where the average monthly salary was $100. What is it? A Barbie Doll. (The shops displayed original All-American Barbie in a swimsuit. A three foot tall Barbie Bride model was selling for as much as $700. A Dutch study indicated that 28% of Dutch adults admitted a far of this. What? Flying. 50% have never flown in an airplane.)
Most people assume this always results in death. But it is possible for someone to do it and not die. What? Drown. (Technically the term 'drowning' refers to the process of taking water into the lungs, not to death caused by it.)
In order to become an astronaut, applicants to NASA's Mercury Space program in 1959 were required to be in the military; hold a bachelor's degree in engineering; be a qualified jet pilot with over 1500 hours of flying time. They must be under 40, in excellent physical condition with perfect eyesight and have one other attribute. What? Be shorter than 5'11".
Biologists long wondered why some viruses were harmless and others close in makeup can kill. In 1995 they announced they had evidence that this creates the difference. What? The diet of the host. (In mice a harmless virus turned deadly when introduced into mice deficient in selenium. It mutated into a virus that caused heart disease. Furthermore, that mutated virus injected into healthy selenium rich mice also produced heart disease.)
Over 96% of all women do this. What? Wear underwear. More just like it tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Talk to you then.
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 21, 2008 3:30 AM (PT) Recently we told you about the farce of psychiatry labeling common teenage rebellion as a mental illness. Most of the time it's just a stage of growing up. But every now and then it might be ghosts? Think I'm kidding? Well Mary Ann Winkowski knows first hand. She talks to ghosts. Always has. And the stories in her new book, When Ghosts Speak, are real eye openers. It might even explain what's going on in your life. She'll give you amazing details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Get a copy of the book at a great price here. And check out Mary Ann's site here.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 20, 2008 2:40 AM (PT) The bride was beautiful-- and recently deported. The groom hadn't yet been caught-- he'd sneak back into America after the ceremony. But they'd be together soon-- in the US where to quote him "our life is there". It may be his American dream, but it's most American citizens' nightmare. They're illegal and proud of it. And not alone. Nearly 600 couples tied the knot in a mass Tijuana mass wedding recently. Guess where they all plan to reside? Festive details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read it and weep here.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 19, 2008 12:10 AM (PT) We have a war on drugs that has put hundreds of thousands of Americans in jail. Apparently no one has told the big pharmaceutical companies which have never found a condition they can't medicate. The latest? Teenage rebellion. Can you name any kid who hasn't gone through the rebellious stage? Well neither can the legal drug pushers who have now labeled it a a treatable mental illness. It's called Oppositional Defiant Disorder and it's the latest way to label and hook your kids. Details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here. And yes we'll cover today's primaries-- heaven knows the powers that be will continue to cover up the results. We'll go over some of the recently uncovered 'irregularities' too.
MONDAY FEBRUARY 18, 2008 2:00 AM (PT) Ever wonder what happens when an illegal alien manages to change status and get a green card? Take one that has been working for a decade under a phony number. Do you think that would hurt their chances at being legal? Not only is that not the case but get ready for an outrage. The social security office instructs this woman to bring her employment history in and they'll credit the work towards her benefits on her new number. I'll make your blood boil tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
No story to link here. This is a first hand experience of a listener in San Diego who took a relative, here illegally for years to get a social security number now that she has a legit green card. He heard it, saw it, and was sickened by it. How about you? We'll also tell you about a case where a citizen was beaten by a group of day laborers-- police, in cahoots with Hispanic activists tried to arrest the victim. Apologies for not getting the trivia answers up. Too much to do, not enough time. I promise to have them up before the next Trivia show (and now that I've written that, I'll have to keep my word).
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 14, 2008 12:20 AM (MT) HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! The government is at it again. Trying to ban a natural supplement. This time it's bio identical hormones which have helped hundreds of thousands. So what's behind it? Big pharmaceutical companies who prefer you take their side effect laden but patentable alternatives. Dr. Jonathan Wright of the Tahoma Clinic joins me to tell you what you should know about the drugs your taking and how to stop the FDA from banning the ones you want, tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Find out about the move to ban bio-identical hormones here, and check out more info on Dr. Wright's website here.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 13, 2008 1:00 AM (PT) The financial woes of England's socialized medicine system are well known. From rampant hospital borne infections to denying treatment to patients. Turns out they have virtually unlimited funds when it comes to... paying surrogates to have babies for gay couples. 15,000 pounds each, as well as all medical expenses. They'll offer the service to barren heterosexual couples too. It's part of their assisted reproductive policy. Meanwhile arthritics are told to treat themselves at home. Hear this tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. And read about it here.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 12, 2008 12:01 AM (PT) In 2003 the FDA knew that HPV, Human Papilloma Virus did not cause cancer. Yet they've continued to push states into mandating a vaccine to prevent it. They want all sixth grade girls inoculated. There's evidence that the vaccine may increase cancer, there's numerous cases of deadly side effects, and there's research that says at best it just doesn't work. But the governor of Texas continues to defend his decision to force it on unsuspecting kids. Murderous details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here and here. We've told you about our favorite YouTube videos, Scott Pettersen's The Bubble Man (here if you haven't seen it) but Luke sent us a link to a similar subject. Check out The Richter Scales' technology bubble here. Great stuff.
MONDAY FEBRUARY 11, 2008 12:01 AM (MT) Do you really want a President with absolutely no sense of humor? One who, for instance, sets the rules for TV news hosts to follow and when they don't, triumphantly says she knows the network will 'do the right thing'. Privately she adds two words "or else".. "Else" being she'll stiff MSNBC in upcoming debates if they don't acquiesce. Shame on MSNBC who took the guy in question off the air. Of course we're talking Hillary Rotten Clinton. And if she pulls this stuff during the campaign, what do you think she'd be like in the highest office? Hildebeast details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. If you haven't heard this outrage, I've got lots to tell you.
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 7, 2008 2:00 AM (PT) Think there's no North American Union? Why else would our government be backing Mexico which violated a water treaty with Texas farmers? And how else could it be heard in a Canadian court --which it will be soon. The farmers have already chalked up half a million dollars in legal fees. But most frustrating is the money they're spending because their government intervened on the side of a foreign country. Water will be as big an issue as globalism in the future so hear these details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read all about it here.
WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 6, 2008 Reading writing and retching is how some parents see the lesson plans put forth by the school board of Montgomery County Maryland, a suburb of DC, that has kids learning the ins and outs of how to use condoms during anal sex, and a lot more. More than most adults probably know, or care to know. Emboldened by a judge's blessing, the board has a message for parents objecting: Get out of town and shut up. Here all the sides.. oh yes much more than two, tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 5, 2008 2:30 AM (PT) Imagine an ice cream maker proud of their natural product. Take Ben & Jerry's as an example. Imagine a competitor outraged that they would label it as 'free of synthetic hormones'. Take Monsanto as an example. Why would Monsanto try to stop such labeling? According to them because it's misleading. They're not doubting that the ice cream is hormone free, they're claiming you're too dumb to understand that it's no better than their chemical concoction. You be the judge tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read it here.
It's actually not a new fight for Monsanto but the discussion is heating up because they have gotten several states to ban such labeling... which brings us to politics. Not lost on me that it's Super Tuesday. Plenty of Hildebeast stories to share. Try this from Reuters. Or this from McClatchy. Or this from The Telgraph. We'll ruminate over the voting tonight. And predictions the dow will fall to 8,000 due to the actions of the fed (that's here). Good news? Let's hope Ron Paul has a terrific showing. Look at this. Read 'em all. Could be a quiz tonight.
Speaking of quizzes.. what's the most horrible thing your significant other has ever worn to bed, or has given you to wear to bed? Best answers win PajamaGrams-- the cliff notes of gifts. The recipients will think you did so much when all you did was go to PajamaGram.com great gifts, amazing packaging! And your story may win you one!
MONDAY FEBRUARY 4, 2008 1:30 AM (PT) Super Tuesday's coming up tomorrow and for those of you still unsure about some of the candidates, let me bring up the Hildebeast, er, Ms. Clinton. She's criticizing Obama for putting forth a health care plan that wouldn't cover every American. She's adamant hers will. She's also been evasive about how. But now it comes out, on the table is a plan to garnish the wages of workers who refused to buy insurance. She sees a number of similar mechanisms as equally acceptable. Will you be voting for someone or against everyone else? Loss of freedom tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
Read about Hillary's plan here. And while you're at it, check out this story on Florida's Department of Children and Families. You know the organization. The one that has lost hundreds if not thousands of kids in the system, some of whom have turned up dead. But of course child protective services is a good thing, right? It's to protect the children! Any doubt the overwhelming likelihood is a parent will better protect a child than the government can be laid to rest with this story. Seems a top employee in Florida's DFS has been arrested for child pornography including pictures of a foster kid in the system.
Then we have Canada where they're contemplating ways to override your choice of speed while driving. Big brother is here on that one. But maybe you came for the trivia answers...
Here's a straggler I meant to reveal a while ago: This religious ceremony practiced in many parts of the world, including the Indian subcontinent, Malaysia, Japan, China, Fiji Islands, Tahiti, Society Islands, New zealand, Mauritius, Bulgaria and Spain. It was also practiced in classical Greece and in ancient India and China. What is it? Firewalking.
In 1992 the big 3 computer makers were IBM Apple and Compaq. They all faced problems low cost clones (ironic in that Compaq was a clone). How did they solve it? Compaq came up with a model under $1000 called the Prolinea. Apple put out the low cost Macintosh Peforma 200, 400 and 600 (priced from $1250 to $2500) and IBM came out with PS/Value point for $1300. Additionally IBM for the first time took orders via phone and magazine ads. (No you didn't have to know all of that, just any part.)
Half the foods eaten through out the world today have this in common. What? They were developed by farmers in the Andes Mountains. (Potatoes, Maize, Squash, Beans, Peanuts, Pineapples, Chocolate, Tomatoes, Peppers, Strawberries and many others were first grown in the region.)
This item common to almost All houses today first appeared in Paris in 1463. It didn't reach Britain until 1708. What is it? House numbers.
The first blank was so large it was mounted on a wagon. People threw parties in their homes so guests could watch it work. What is it? The first commercial vacuum cleaner.
More than 7,000 blank are on display at a Las Vegas museum. 7,000 what? Refrigerator Magnets (viewed at the Guinness World of Records Museum and Gift Shop on the strip. The exhibit is a part of a more than 26,000 magnet collection of Louise J. Greenfarb, the magnet lady.)
And I think that's it, though in typing this I realized we left another straggler off the list last week, so we'll star there this Friday, assuming we survive Super Tuesday, of course.
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 2, 2007 4:00 AM (PT) Dr. Wright's interview from Thursday is archives and available. Click on mystreamingserver.com to access it. I promise to get last night's trivia answers (and the previous week's) up before the weekend is over.
FRIDAY FEBERUARY 1, 2008 2:00 AM (PT) For all of you who ask.. is that a recent picture of you on this site? the answer is.. the picture above was taken an hour ago. We'll probably use it for this year's baseball card. Jon used his digital camera and I just uploaded it. Not that it matters as the best part of radio is its theatre of the mind quality. I can look any way you want me to look. Trivia tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Talk to you then.
JANUARY 2008
THURSDAY JANUARY 31, 2008 1:25 AM (PT) All the front running presidential candidates are for government health care of some sort. And all sorts limit your freedom to choose what you think is right for you. Your best bet is to get yourself in shape so you won't need to rely on the system. Think it's impossible? Then you haven't heard Dr. Jonathan Wright, an MD who puts himself on the line for your health. Hear about what the FDA has done to him and what his research can do for you tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Check out Dr. Wright's Tahoma Clinic website here. We'll talk about natural medicine including bio-identical hormones and several other things that might make a difference in your life.
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 30, 2008 1:00 AM (PT) We've talked a lot about the propensity for fraud with electronic voting machines and how easy it is to massage the totals. But it turns out the problem is much deeper than that and potentially unintended. The machines are difficult to use, impossible to use for some voters, unreliable, often unpredictable and hard to maintain. Hear about he 18,000 votes marked "no vote" in one county and a lot more. It's Electile Disfunction tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here.
TUESDAY JANUARY 29, 2008 7:00 PT (PT) The Ron Paul Goes To The Zoo song now has pictures! Check out Scott Pettersen's work on YouTube here.
TUESDAY JANUARY 29, 2008 2:45 AM (PT) Mitt Romney is proud of forcing every Massachusetts resident to buy health insurance. He brags that his plan didn't cost the state any more money while he was in office. He suggests all state similarly compel their residents. But he doesn't mention that the reason universal health insurance didn't bust his budget was because it was implemented after he was out of office. Reality, and Florida primary coverage which might be mutually exclusive tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here. And while you're online check out Jim's Ron Paul for Dummies site here. Nice work. So good to see so many people involved in Ron's campaign since clearly major media refuses to do their part and objectively cover his candidacy.
MONDAY JANUARY 28, 2008 2:45 AM (PT) What goes up, must come down, so the news that there are over 600,000 pieces of space debris out there orbiting the planet is somewhat unsettling. More so when you hear of something about the size of a bus, weighing 10 tons, loaded with toxic chemicals that happens to be heading for us at 22,000 miles per hour. The government admits they've lost control of this spy satellite and they know it will hit earth within weeks. What they don't know is where it might land. More good news tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
Don't believe me? Read about it here. At first I was thinking this was the bizarre story of the night but then I got more how screwed up voting in the various primaries is. The latest? New Orleans. Wait til you hear who voted and who didn't. And that's just for openers. Nevermind the state of the union address. I tend to stay away from fiction. I also stayed away from getting Friday's trivia answers up here. I promise to rectify that soon.
FRIDAY JANUARY 25, 2008 12:01 AM (MT) Trivia tonight! ...which brings up my lapse at the end of last week's show by not listing the answers you may have missed.. so here we go:
In 1992, who were the big three computer manufacturers and what was their collective problem? IBM, Apple & Compaq were all plagued by low cost clones (Tonight we'll ask you specifically what each did about it.)
A major news headline in 1992 was "The blank threat in the New World Order." Fill in the blank. Nuclear
In 1984 the FDA forced companies to disclose this on food labels. What? Sodium content
In January 1984, there were enormous half price sales on this. On what? Long Distance (The break up of AT&T in 1982 was implemented on January 1, 1984, and competitors including MCI were lining up to bid for that business.)
In Alaska it is illegal to do this while on an airplane or any other flying vehicle. What? Look at a moose from the window. (I don't make 'em up. I assume it has something to do with spotting but it isn't written that way.)
We'll pick up with the open questions from last week, and add some new ones too.. plus you can have your own category, as usual.
Couple must-see YouTube entries: Scott Petterson's Ron Paul song (which needs your video input). Great lyrics. Click here. And this somewhat video-ponderous explanation of a voting irregularity in New Hampshire. It won't take long, and I'll cut to the chase. Ron Paul one the precincts and lost the vote according to the tally sheets. Check it out here.
THURSDAY JANUARY 24, 2008 12:01 AM PT Worried about the government controlling your health care? To a great extent they already do. Declared emergency in your area? Do you know you can legally be subjected any vaccines those in charge want to force upon you? Are you aware what will happen when your medical records are placed online? Did you know it's imminent and you have little to no say in the matter? And we haven't even gotten to the socialized medicine most presidential candidates-- both Rs and Ds want to bring you, but we will when Sue Blevins of the Institute for Health Freedom joins me tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Look around IHF's site. There's more than enough reason for concern, as you'll find out on Sue's site. Fortunately there's all the ammunition you need to fight what you can.
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 23, 2008 1:30 AM (PT) Wondering what's really happening with the economy? The way to find out is to ask an insider. But of course anyone high up enough to know won't tell you. They will if it turns out they knew too much and the government turned on them. That's what happened to Catherine Austin Fitts, a former government employee turned contractor who developed software that saved taxpayers billions. What she didn't know is she was stepping on some big toes that weren't about to give up those billions. Hear it all tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Check out Catherine's website solari.com to find out more about her. But let me boil it down-- imagine having someone invite you to lunch to tell you, 'you're going to jail.' At that point you may still be thinking that being honest and in the right will save you. And it might. But getting saved will cost you all your savings and solvency. It's a story that will scare the daylights out of you and one you need to hear.
TUESDAY JANUARY 22, 2008 12:01 AM MT What one thing would you want a presidential candidate to say they'd do about the economy if they were elected? Several things come to mind for me but none of them apparently are on the minds of the major contenders, except Ron Paul, of course. What HIllary says is truly frightening. But the others aren't any better. According to them, the outsourcing of jobs is not the real issue. They apparently don't notice we're not manufacturing much. What they aren't telling you, and why-- tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. You've probably heard all the politco rhetoric. But read Hillary's here and weep.
MONDAY JANUARY 21, 2008 1:30 AM (ET) Was it intentional or accidental? Either way voters were turned away from the polls Saturday in Mytrle Beach. Seems the electronic voting machines in Horry County were counting votes before the polls opened. Officials chalk it up to a maintenance problem. Some believe it was intended voter fraud. But the real question is why the required paper ballots were no where in site. It's also a mystery why this wasn't a big weekend story. We'll talk about it tonight at 10 ET / 7PT. Here's a link to a story from Time. And here's a report from Ron Paul's campaign. Here's a similar one from a Horry County group. There were several other stories Saturday, some from major state newspapers, AP and others. Most of those are gone now. Why am I not surprised?
THURSDAY JANUARY 17, 2008 4:00 AM (PT) The Supreme Court as agreed to hear the issue of whether the 2nd amendment means that citizens have the right to bear arms. Seems there's confusion about how it's worded. What's confusing me is our forefathers had a lot more to say on it. Every one of them expounded on it. It wasn't until the last century that anyone tried to rewrite it. Find out exactly what was said tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
We're going to try to have Larry Pratt on too. If not tonight, then soon. Check out his site at www.gunowners.org --they're the real deal when it comes to defending your right to bear arms. This may be the single biggest issue that the Supreme court will ever hear. And the Bush administration, along with all the usual suspects thinks there's no problem with reasonably limiting your gun rights. Funny how it always starts out 'reasonably' and always winds up in a total gun grab. More tonight.
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 16, 2008 2:00 AM (PT) If you're worried about the NAU, globalism plans are worse than you think. Last Spring America signed an agreement to form the Transatlantic Common Market by 2015. But this time senators won't be denying it. Some are on the committee to bring it about. They're already talking about harmonizing our laws with the European Union. Things presidential candidates should be talking about... but aren't, tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here.
I found the story you requested about a court ruling that says there's no law against distorting the news. The FCC rules are just a policy not a matter of law. (Tell that to the owners who have previously lost licenses for news distortion.) We'll go over that tonight too. And we'll kick the show off with Scott Pettersen who you read about in Monday's entries. Short memory? Keep reading.
TUESDAY JANUARY 15, 2008 1:30 AM (PT) People looking for a safe investment have always been able to rely on Treasury notes. Backed by the US government. Certainly not the best rate, but can't beat the security. The backbone of many conservative portfolios. Maybe not in the future. Moody who rates these kinds of things says there's a danger T-Bills and such will soon drop below triple A. Others say T-notes will be the next junk bonds. Will it get that bad? We'll talk about it-- and the Michigan primaries tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read Moodys thoughts here.
MONDAY JANUARY 14, 2008 6:55 PM (PT) There's a link below to Scott Pettersen's wonderful YouTube video (Mr. Bubble Man, click here.) but I'd also suggest checking out his MySpace page here and his YouTube channel here. We'll try to get him on to talk about Mr. Bubble Man soon. Show in moments!
MONDAY JANUARY 14, 2008 3:31 AM (PT) Wonders never cease. A full weekend off and I finally managed to reprint the three stories you requested over the holidays. Click here to read them and keep reading for tonight's show info as well as Friday's trivia results. Talk to you in hours!
MONDAY JANUARY 14, 2008 12:10 AM (PT) When Americans want to know what loss of liberty they're about to endure, all the need do is look at Great Britain, the place that fostered everything from traffic cameras to bans of fast food advertising. With that in mind be prepared to be very concerned. The latest? England is planning to chip prisoners as if they were dogs. Implantable RFID chips.f And they're hoping to expand the signal range dramatically. We'll talk about when they expand the program-- to everyone, tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
Want to read about it? Click here. And while you're at it you might want to look at their plans to harvest organs from the unwilling. A slight exaggeration but the real issue will be the definition of "dead'. Click here for that one. And while we've got you clicking, check out Scott Pettersen's wonderful YouTube effort, "Bubble Man" here. Not only do I like the melody and the graphics but the words are on the mark in a humorous way. We'll all be laughing all the way from the bank.
FRIDAY JANUARY 11, 2008 - You probably want the trivia answers. Here you go:
Per a survey of 100 international travel writers, the US has by far the best what in the world? toilets. (China has the worst, followed by the Middle East.) What do these travel writers think Russia is dead last in? toilet paper.
In 1979 the Supreme Court ruled that colleges did not have to accept blank students. Fill in the blank: handicapped. (If their disability prevented them from participating fully in a program, schools were not required to make modifications.)
The government dropped its lawsuit against the ADA (American Dental Association) in 1979. What was the issue? The FTC wanted the ADA to allow members to advertise their services.
Where America was headed in the '80s was the subject of a roundtable discussion among journalists. Sylvia Porter contended Americans were ready to be called to sacrifice. James Kilpatrick scoffed not only will Americans not adhere to the 55 mph speed limit, but federal judges refuse to abide by the presidents request! What request? lowering thermostats-- judges were refusing to do so in court rooms.
Floor cleaning products in this country have 10 times the pine fragrance of US floor cleaners. Women there won't buy a weaker fragrance. They think the pine scent wafting out into the street is proof of their fastidious housekeeping. What country are we talking about? Venezuela.
About 1.5 million people annually do this on vacation. What? Make a trip to see the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia.
A survey of 18-24 year olds in America showed that 1 in 7, or 24 million young people, can not do this. What? Find the USA on a map.
Most non-food choking deaths in children are caused by what, according to researchers who also note that older children were more likely to choke in it. What? balloons. A few questions still open for next Friday and by then you can best believe we'll have more.
THURSDAY JANUARY 10, 2008 1:00 AM (PT) When every poll showed Obama way ahead in the New Hampshire primary and Hillary won, some wondered how the pollsters could be so wrong. But maybe they weren't. Wait until you hear the roll of the electronic voting machines. And while it will shock you, there's not much more accuracy with hand counts. Take Summit where 31 people who voted for Ron Paul were surprised to see the reported total votes for Paul as zero. Be prepared to be alarmed tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Want to take a look at the Diebold discrepancies? Click here.
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 9, 2008 2:45 AM (PT) How could the pollsters in New Hampshire all be so wrong? How can the Hildebeast and McCain be the victors? How can Ron Paul be getting better media coverage in foreign nations than here? Lots of questions, but here's another one: If you had access to a time machine and go back to any period in history to stop any public figure from ever existing, who would it be? Would it be a politician? How far back would you go? And what would the ramifications be? Defend your choice tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Got this idea from listener Andy who votes for.. Mohammed. I'll tell you why and get your views tonight!
Got any kids? Looking for books for them that won't indoctrinate them into socialism, globalism or whacked out environmentalism? Want to instill in them the value of trucking? Check out "Clutch, The Trucking Cat". Truckers Joie & Amanda Flickinger have written this delightful tale and you can pick up a copy here.
TUESDAY JANUARY 8, 2008 1:10 AM (PT) By now you probably realized that the major media outlets are not going to tell you what you need to know about the presidential candidates. And several of them aren't going to tell you about Ron Paul at all. So if you've been wondering about things like which of these candidates is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, Bilderbergs or the Trilateral Commission, I've got several things to tell you. Hear them all, and the real deal about the New Hampshire results tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT.
MONDAY JANUARY 7, 2008 2:50 AM (PT) A flurry of inquires recently over whether I'd continue to host Coast to Coast. No. Last Wednesday was my final appearance. OK, so everyone asks why?! For one thing, I was never comfortable with the show this go round. It never seemed like a good fit to me, given it's current direction on and off the air. But after almost six months of doing it, what it really came down to is not having the time or energy to devote to it. My main thrust is this weekday show, (for which there is a loyal audience-- and I thank every one of you for that). A lot more goes into doing a talk show than the hours you hear. And I realized that, at least at this point in my life, I really enjoy that two day reset weekends bring me, so I can come back Mondays looking forward to talking to you, which I'm eager to do right now.
Plenty of things to discuss this coming week-- New Hampshire being a big part of it. Did you see the ABC debates this weekend? Lots to say about that too. I'll start by noting I was even more proud to be a Ron Paul supporter! As for tonight, picture this. Cops break down your door, handcuff you and your wife, threaten your kids at gunpoint, and whisk your 11 year old son to the hospital. Why? He hit his head playing a few days ago, and you, being a former medic, determined he was fine. You told that to the parametics, they called family services who got a court order to remove your son because you're... a constitutionalist? By the way the hospital immediately released the boy, proclaiming him fine. Police state details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Want to read it for yourself? Click here.
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 3, 2008 2:30 AM (PT)Think your internet access will remain unrestricted in the future? Think you'll have the right to see anything that's online? Think again. The latest country to censor what it's citizens can see is Australia. But "It's for the children!" of course. The problem is, we're really not sure what they're defining as inappropriate material. Along the same censorship lines, will Ron Paul be in this weekend's debates? Both Fox and ABC are making noise about excluding him-- even though he's just topped one poll. We'll talk about that and the outcome Iowa, tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about the Australian plan here.
TUESDAY JANUARY 2, 2008 3:31 AM (PT) I had hoped to have a new web page up by now, but two weeks of the flu slowed everything down. Sorry for not writing daily last week-- it was all I could do to be on the air every night. But we made it! "The Rollye James I Hate The Holiday's Club" 2007 edition is officially closed.
On top of everything else, tonight, after my three hours of talk radio, I'll do another four on Coast to Coast. If you really want to be depressed and concerned, then this is the show for you. Even if you don't, you'd be advised to hear what we'll say, as we'll spend 4 hours talking about America's coming financial picture for '08 and beyond.
You really can't have a financial conversation without bring up the Federal Reserve scam and we will-- with Andre Eggelletion. The author of "Thieves In The Temple" will tell all. Check out his website talktoandre.com here and order the book at a great price here.
In the 2nd hour we'll talk to Mish Shedlock. Check out his website globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com here. Worth the read! We'll follow him in the 3rd hour with Joe Meyer whose website meyerassoc.com is here, and we'll spend the final hour with Catherine Austin Fitts who knows first hand what the government is doing to us economically. Go to her website, solari.com here. Her insights should be nothing short of fascinating-- along the same lines as Walter Burien's CAFR disclosures!
As for what we'll do on this show, well seeing as how the Iowa primary is a day a way, you can bet we'll talk about it.. and we'll try to find out more about the ballot boxes used. That's gonna be a key everywhere in this election. Meanwhile falllout from Hillary's past actions continues to mount. Now the question is what will happen if the government ignores the evidence presented to them? Is there anything that can compel them to take action and investigate it? When the evidence is the kind of stuff that lands other people in jail or paying hefty fines, if they have sufficient proof a crime occurred and they choose to ignore it, what's the next step? The agency is the FEC. The crime is campaign violations-- big ones. And Hillary Clinton, said to be heavily involved, has been getting a pass. Never mind if she did it, if the FEC won't investigate it, what can be done? Some are asking that question right now. We'll give you all the details tonight at 10 ET / 7 PT. Read about it here.
